  1. Maybe she had different expectations about America. You know everyone overseas thinks America is so easy, when in essence I believe in some ways Philippines might be easier to live in etc etc. WHen my hubby came here from Phils he assumed he would get a job instantly making $60,000 a year, get a loan for like $200,000 instantly and buy a new car. LOL. Maybe your wife thinks she was gonna be a princess when she got here! 5 months you are both adjusting to marriage and shes adjusting to new culture. It took hubby about 2 years to ajust to culture here.........I hope you still love eachother maybe you can work it out just be patient!

  2. We can now measure different chemicals and all in the water in parts per trillion. It used to be parts per billion. If you look hard enough, of course you are going to "find something" in the water................ my favorite is the fish on prozac...................LOL. the best type of water to drink would be reverse osmosis water ............................so I've heard.........................

  3. Hi! I stayed at the Boracay Regency . I have to say the rooms were really nicely decorated and clean, and the bathroom/ shower was great and gigantic! The service was great. Aircon was good, tv good. I also used their laundry service which was excellent. Also the bed was really big and the sheets were silk ! It was so comforable It was great! I really liked it and they had a nice outdoor breakfast in the morning, I am not sure if I remember but I think it was complimentary, I think it was...I had a nice time . Although a lot of people said there are other resorts that are better I guess you would say more intimate Boracay regency is kind of big I guess. But I have to say I really liked it I had no problem with it.Good luck and enjoy your trip!

  4. I know this has probably been discussed before, heres the situation.............

Applied for i-751 in September at VSC.

We have been living in the same house since hubby got to USA

My landlords sold the house to another owner without letting us know.

New owner comes over trying to force us to sign a lease raising rent, etc etc you know the deal.

We are getting ready to move at the end of December or early January (packing while listening to Christmas songs is really great  )

I have a feeling its gonna get ugly with new landlord..........

I am scared about our docs and greencard coming here.....we completed biometrics already but you know vsc is slow.

    please advise thanks

    Marg

ps best of luck to the both of you!

  7. My hubby came from manila to nyc on a flight that took an ungodly amount of hours. I showed up with balloons that said I love you, etc etc. It was an intimate thing, just me and him; cuz we were just hugging and crying .I knew that he would be exhausted and he had his luggage .........so I didnt want to bring a lot of stuff. PS he slept for two days after that .....................its prob better to have a welcoming party a week after he gets here in my opinion.

  8. I Miss chow king garlic rice n beef tapa. I miss halo halo. I miss fresh fruit shakes like cantaloupe etc . I miss dim sum happy hour at my fave chinese restaurant. I miss eating a lot while still losing weight. I miss sAN mig light . I miss sisig from the cart/stand. I miss everything made from ube .

i also miss buko pie .

  9. My husband went thru manila embassy. We are 3 years apart. At that time USEM Manila concerned about big age gaps . Even though we are close in age the CO asked questions about our ages. If you read the threads from 2007 I vaguely remember at that point in time a lot of people were getting those red flags. But hey dont worry theres a lot of couples like u out there, just check out Robinsons Mall near Malate . :innocent:

  10. I just ate chicken feet and gizzards last night for the very first time.

Does Jinky make adobo out of chicken hearts????hy husb made it before believe it or not it is not that bad, although I wouldnt go out of my way to request it for dinner...LOL

  11. I think Instant Mashed Potatoes saves a lot of time for Black Friday rush. I'm going to spend 3,000 dollars that day.

We're Asian, don't know how to westernized our cusine. Therefore, making sandwiches is out of the question. We keep it whole in the fridge.

we not really too "western" either...LOL! My husband will prob take the leftover turkey chop it up and add it to fried rice the next day for breakfast...heheh

  12. What are your plans for THanksgiving? WHat are you cooking?

We are making 1/2 a turkey (its only gonna be my hubby, brother and myself) cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce

    Pancit (pilipino noodle dish)

    chicken shanghai( mini eggrolls)

key lime pie for dessert also maybe brownies

    beer and other assorted booze

  13. All I have to say, is we do what we can. We send a balikbayan box every year around the holidays. We filled it up with stuff and also send some cash. We sent a lot of money to our family in Marikina threre due to the flood. There was six feet of water in my husbands home. When my husband got here one member of his family kept on harassing us for money, but we told her we do what we can. Every couple of months my husband would send between 40 and $100 dollars to help his dad. We don't let anyone pressure us. "We do what we can" thats our feeling, because it took my husband almost 2 years once he got here to find steady work and it wasnt easy with the oil and gas prices here in NY in the winter months. We husband also explained to his family that we are "just starting out" as well.

  14. YOur friend needs to contact the local philippine consulate closest to your friend............i know that I read that they will help any Pilipino no matter what their "status " is..............(at least the one in ny said that on its website) I believe they can help him perhaps w his passport

  15. My husbands family over there is Upper Middle Class, I guess you would say, they got money. But of course we got "dollars" LOL....so we still send them money from time to time, especially his elderly dad and his only sister we send some dough over there. especially since the flood we sent them a lot of money and balikbabyan box full of stuff. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. Of course when hubby got here, everone was asking us blah blah blah we help them as much as we can, however we advised them we are just starting out in the states and it is expensive here to live. In any event, I will take everyone on a shopping spree when we go there in 2010 and treat my sisters in law to a day at the beauty spa , etc because there we can ..................................however , regarding your question, dont get suckered!

  16. OK I just want to say that my husband came here from Philippines in april 2007, and please keep in mind adjusting to the United States takes TIME.....I can finally say that after almost 3 years my husband has finally adjusted, it is not an overnight thing. Can your husband enroll in some sort of school or extra career training?? Can u afford it at this time? Do you have family close by that he can "hang out " with while you're at work???

  17. Hubby and I are leaning more toward vegetarianism since he got here; we have pretty much eliminated beef from our diet( except our once in awile treat at burger king) LOL and my husband rarely eats pork anymore. We eat fruit, veggies and a lot of seafood, the majority of our meals during the week only include rice, beans like mung beans, veggies, potatoes, eggs . I could prob remove the seafood and eggs from the diet ..like anything it would be a little difficult at first but we will adapt. anyway I cant really eat beef or chicken I feel sick afterwards..................except for the burger king hehehe! and as far as dairy products, I hate them.........I will probably be a great candidate when I get old for breaking my ribs/hip etc

  18. I would like to know the name of the movie, it came out a few years ago; i believe it was filmed or partially filmed in Thailand, near the adaman sea? I think it either starred brad pitt or leonardo di caprio? Was it called "the beach" maybe I am wrong, if someone knows please fill me in.......I want to watch it, but forgot the title...thanks
