How do you deal with someone that is constantly talking about themselves to you every waking moment ....what do you do if this is a close member of your family (not your spouse but parent, for example) How do you politely deal with them to shut them up?????????? Heheh I am glad my husband and I are trendy now LOL...... people in the United States used to laugh at me when the found out I was dating an Asian guy...you know they would always mention those stupid stereotypes.
sooo I am happily married and they are still alone and single, I guess I got the last laugh!

Well , we are almost there...we have almost saved enough $$ to put a second floor on our house in the Philippines(metro manila area) I would like any type of advice or imput from anyone who is based in the United States who built or extended a house in RP. I know it will take a few months to build it......any advice on this issue will be appreciated. This is the first time either of us took on a project like this , and we are a little nervous. Thanks

I like that affordable housing (joke) Just another scheme in which" they" have transformed nyc into a playground for the rich and shutting everyone else out.

Okay, this has happened to me TWICE and also to several of my other female-friends.
Foreign person approaches you while you're at on WalMart/a cafe/shopping/etc., makes a bit of small talk before launching into how he wants to date you and you should really marry him. Isn't deterred by the whole "I'm MARRIED!" thing. One friend had a guy that actually tried to kiss her.
The second time this happened to me, I pointed out that the guy should really approach this like a business transaction & state that he needs a GC & is willing to pay the woman money to marry him. A couple thousand, at least. But he didn't speak English very well so I don't think he understood what I was saying.
Has this happened to anyone else? It's so bizarre! Do they really think that basically asking a woman to marry them within two minutes of talking is going to work?
where do live? wow that sounds rediculous

Think it over! It's not all "quiet beach" and "watching the sunset".
Financially speaking, if you plan on retiring in the PI and perhaps buy land and especially build a home, don’t give your money to anyone but the contractor and you better be living in the PI at the time of construction to keep an eye on were your money is really going!
Oh Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we cant afford to live in the United States for retirement...LOL! In any event we are definitely going back there..................can't wait to get a yaya!

Don't forget - the USC sponsor (you I presume) will also need to do a COA via the I-865 (only down-loadable/must be mailed in).
Thanks everyone for the link for the gc holder address change form and the info on the I-865. I had no idea I needed to fill out I-865.Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has probably been adressed before, however I went online to try to change hubbys address( he has his 10 year gc now) But I could only download the ar-11 form to mail in...I know most people "do it" online....I tried to find the link to change address online @ uscis webiste, however I am having problems, would anyone be able to help me with the procedure? We are travelling out of the country in May and I want everything to be "straight." Thanks, Jelloshotgirl

I would like to have a funeral like they do in Bali, something like carry me thru the street when I am dead with a big colorful procession and then burn me! ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it is something like a Hindu tradition then I want my ashes spinkled in the ocean.................I cringe at being buried in the ground although when I am dead I will prob end up buried somehwere in the Philippines in my husbands family cemetery property or whatever.LOL doesnt matter I will already be dead

ok here goes:
talks nonstop and gossips
never asks me "how are u doing"
I cant remember the last time she EVER said that to me even when I always ask her
Its all about her
Tells white lies/and sometimes outright lies
Tries to put me down in front of hubby
Likes to suck people into argument/confrontation
She had the nerve to ask me when I get paid (ps i give her a few hundred a month on a timely basis)
some times obstinate and bigote
a screamer and loud
I did leave home 17 + years ago but we need to save some money for a few months so we can buy our own place hopefully one day

its my Mother.....it doesnt matter if she is Amerian or Pinay I dont want anyone to make generalizations, I just need some advice, and she does have a husband, can u believe it?
-
Really...............how do u deal with a narcisistic, nosy , gossipy , person who puts all ur business out there that happens to be your mother/mother in law who you have to live with for a few months?????????????????
-
My heart goes out to you, hon. Look, my advice is to stay away from the drama, move farther away, have hubby start applying for new job etc etc. The difference in America is that you don't need to kiss anyones AZZ. Both of you can be independent together u and ur husband It is wayyyy different in Asia, family interactions, etc. I am sort of going thru some stuff myself with my family and my hubby too and it totally SUCKS! Also if they complain about Asian food screw them...............don't invite them over to eat. You do not have to constantly put up with abuse from your "family".
Good luck,
Jelloshotgirl

my mother thought my husband lived in a Nipa Hut ....she didnt think there were "real houses" in the Philippines....she was also shocked that they have television there....
-
I think the idea that they have to leave is absolutely absurd. Maybe they can become Jewish if they want to.

My husband's passport expires in October 2010. We are going to Philippines in a few months. Can my husband renew his passport over there and if so does anyone know if they offer expedited services to get the passport fast for Balikbayans? (Like getting the passport in a day or so...) or is he better off just renewing it here at the Philippine consulate general in new york?
Thanks
