  1. Hi! Finally I can finally breathe with ease!

I had my K1 visa interview at 9 am today-April 17. It was easy and not at all scary as some people felt for Delhi Consulate. I reached there by 8:40 am and was in the embassy by 8:45 am and was called at 9 am to submit my passpost and documents pending (the ones I hadnt submitted to VFS). Paid the $100 fees and was asked to wait. I was called for the interview at 10:35 am and was asked to take the oath. Asked few questions:

    1. How we met?

    2. Since when my fiance has been in US?

    3. Do I have any relatives in US?

    4. What does my fiance do for a living?

    5. When did we get engaged?

The cunsular commented that i had travelled well...they dont try to intimidate you at all. All in all very good experience. Finally he Congratulated meand said that I would get the passport with the visa in a week's time by courier and that I was all set!

I hope this helps you all applying at New Delhi

    All the Best!

  3. Hi VJer!

I was wondering if i could get some information based on experience if to use USPS to have my fiance send the I 134 from California to India by their Global Express Guaranteed® Document Service which will cost us $35.75 and delivery time is 1-3 business days.

Whereas FedEx will charge from $77 to $66 ! DHL is $46.... for the same transit time. But is US Postal Service reliable?

Please advise what should we use.

    thanks

  4. Hello everyone!

I have my birth certificate in my native language, hindi and it does not have my name as when i was born it was not necessary to give the name of the child..it was decided later by the family (I think that still the case!). I have secondary evidence of my class 10 certificate with my date of birth and fathers name but not mothers. Any idea if i can use the school certificate and a letter from my mother as an affidavit? I have also translated my original. I had submitted these at CSC and got no RFE. Will these work for the interview in Delhi? HELP!!!

    thanks

i wanted a bit info bout the police certificates from these places

...but does any1 kno abt the police cert frm passport office???is it needed???my passport is 5 yrs old and issued frm bangalore passport office,

pls do advice if anyone can help me out,

    thanks .

Hi! The police clearance certificate from the passport office is valid for one year and it comes under miscellaneous services. You need to fill a form in duplicate and pay a fee of rs 300. it get sdone the same day. Atleast this is what is given on the pasport website and i have been told by the passport office in delhi. I will be going for mine probably next week.

  8. See if your fiancee can get the ticket cheaper in her country. I sent Claudeth the money for her ticket and she was able to get it for about $150 less than anything I could find. Good luck

    You've got it backwards jasman.

DANO, in New Delhi IS the foreign fiancee.

To address your other point: the fare DOES turn out to be cheaper (by conversion of In.Rs. to US$$) to book from India-end.

thanks for your reply Cherry :0) Since you are connected with India, maybe you could help me with the amount of cash i can transfer from india to US in $$$ when i move to US?

  9. Has anyone tried to log in to the site to check case status and not been able to? The necessary fields don't appear for me.

I'm not blocked currently, as I've not tried to check since Friday.

This could be a blessing in disguise...I'll be able to get work done today and I won't feed my OCD!!!

Now if someone could only explain where my darn NOA2 is. :)

Hi! I just tried logging in and you are right, the fields are not appearing :(
