  1. Hi ! Went to SS office in Sunnyvale last week to get my name changed in the SS records from my maiden name to married name so that I can officially start using it at the bank, for applying a credit card etc. I took my marriage certificate with me alongwith the passport. The person there asked for my green card to which I told him i had just applied for it and haad requested it in my married name. He looked up his computer and said the system had me in the country with my maiden name and the DHS might get confused if he changed my name in the SS card>

Is this the case?? Do I need to have everything in my maiden name then?

    :help:

  2. Hi ! I went to DMV for my California driver's license and was turned back as I was unable to show my legal presence even though I have a SS# :( My I-94 is no longer good as it expires on Sept 20. The girl said I need to wait for the greencard or request USCIS for document proving my legible legal presence?? I told her I have applied for my greencard.

I do need a drivers license to move around here..and helps as an ID too :help:

    thanks

  3. Do the crime, pay the fine.
Can't avoid the long arm or the law. Justice always prevails...

The reason for this post is WE WANT TO PAY IT..But dont know how to pay it as we lost the ticket & thats where need help!!!!

Just PM'd a friend here who may know a link/information about paying Quebec tickets.. i've been looking for links all day can't find anything.. but i'm no expert in French either :)

    We're working on it!

Eagerly await your reply with more info...thanks a ton!

  4. wow! this canadian ticket looks serious :( It was over the memorial day weekend and not received any notice till date :( How to find the record and just pay it off? Any idea???
You said the ticket was in "Quebec, Canada".

Unfortunately, that is somewhat ambiguous; did you mean "Quebec City" or the province of Quebec?

The question isn't trivial. You should know the municipality where it occured so that you can search 411 to get the necessary numbers and call.

It was on one of the freeways in Quebec..so i guess it would be Quebec province.

  5. You only need copy of the passport (biometric part and stamps) for you, unless you don't have a birth certificate for the US citizen if my memory is correct.

Why would proof of the USC's citizenship be needed?

OOps, sorry that was for the I-130... I got confused since the person was talking about a copy of both spouse's passport.

    Thanks for clarifying!

Thanks for reminding about the photos for the G325A. I also found conflicting information on the Marriage Certificate here. Some say a regular photocopy needs to be attached and some have written "Certified copy of Marriage certificate" i am confused??? And should we include pictures from our wedding with the application?

Cecy, After reading your post I went back to the G325A form..it doesnty say anything about the photos??? Am i missing anything here?

  7. all I know is under the guides here on VJ it says a completed G325A. I assumed it was for the beneficiary. know you have me wondering too :(

For K1 i had used a lawyer...sigh didnt know about VJ at that time else would have saved a lot of money! Anyways, for K1 we had filled G325A for both of us. I am wondering if i should just send for both of us for AOS as well though the guide here tells us to send for me the non-US cit. spouse

  8. That's the marriage license, it won't be that precise on the marriage certificate.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the marriage certificate only shows like your name, DOB, date and location of marriage, it won't state what your occupation is, that's irrelevant to a marriage certificate.

So don't worry about it. You'll send a copy of the certificate, not the license.

I received a marriage certificate from our Pastor on the day of the wedding but wondered if it would be enough cause it didnt look very official. then I called the courthouse to check into it and they said I needed the one with the official seal on it, so I picked it up today and it has all the information on it from when we applied for the marriage license.

Hi! I dont think one needs to worry about the occupation.Even i filled in the marriage license my profession although in AOS forms i am putting none as i am not working. I will have my Marriage certificate in the mail by tomorrow....will confirm back but i dont see a problem.

  9. Good evening! You only need to include photos of your husband's passport.
Hi! I am putting together my AOS packet together and wanted to check if we need to include:

    1. Copy of all pages of both, my passport and my husband’s passport

    2. G325A for my husband

    thanks

    dano

Hi! so i need to copy my biographical pages of the passport as well? the guide here mentions in&out stamps.... is this for enteries and exits from US or just the recent one? And skip the G325 for hubby?

  10. Hi! I had a query for Question no. 16 of Employment authorization form I-765:

    16. Go to Part 2 of the Instructions, Eligibility Categories. In the space below, placethe letter and number of the category you selected from the instructions (Forexample, (a)(8), ©(17)(iii), etc.).

    Eligibility under 8 CFR 274a.12

    The instructions indicate:

K-1 Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) of U.S. Citizen or K-2Dependent--(a)(6). File your EAD application if you arefiling within 90 days from the date of entry. This EAD cannotbe renewed. Any EAD application other than for a replacementmust be based on your pending application for adjustmentunder ©(9).

The VJ sample form shows the answer as ( c ) (9). I wanted to reconfirm if the answer is (a ) (6) or as stated by sample form (c ) (9)

    thanks

  11. Hi! We are in the process of putting together our AOS & EAD File. i had a few questions about the I-864 at this point and I have found conflicting replies on other similar posts...

    1. My fiance (now husband) had got a letter from his employer indicating his wages, title in April 2007 when I was applying for my K1 visa, to be submitted at the US Embassy. Can I attach a copy of the same letter or we need to get a new one?

    2. Does the I-864 need to be notarized?

    3. What is I-864A form? Who needs to fill that?

    4. What are the documents one needs to attach with I-864?

    Await your replies.

    thanks

  12. hi ! i came into US on K1 on june 22 and we got married on Jul 7. As per advise on VJ, I waited for the 2 weeks before I apply for my SS# now I am wondering whether I am supposed to apply in my maiden name or married name as I am taking my husband's last name??? I am reading confusing posts here...I have yet to receive my Marriage certificate. Will get it by july 20. Please advise what should I do as i need the SS# for my California driver's license, opening a bank account etc We all know everything here requires a SS#.

    Eagerly await your precious advise.

    thanks

  13. hi! i know there are a lot of guides here but it is all looking so overwhelming. I arrived in USA on K1 visa on june 22 and will be getting married on jul 7. I needed your advise with what should i start off with...what should i start putting together as it seems the fees are going up drastically from jul 30 onwards.... i would also need your help with the medical bit. I had a sealed envelop from the USCIS doctor in india where i went for the medical, i asked the immigration officer at SFO if it was to be given to him..he wasnt sure but then kept it with the rest of the stuff? Was it for my AOS application??? i am so worried.

Await your reply and advise eagerly.

    thanks

    dano
