  1. You guys, this forum is amazing and I've learned a bunch the last few days and I'm trying to pre-plan and get everything in a row before we 100% decide to file (we've basically said we're going to get all the information, take it away individually and really consider the reality of going ahead with it and then discuss it face to face when I arrive for our 2 months together in 70 days).

So anyhow, I just checked my i94 records online and it shows that I'm registered as having left the US twice in as many days back in 2013, without a corresponding entry into the country.

I can explain exactly the reason (my flight was cancelled after two aborted take-offs and they didn't deplane us until nearly 2am - for a 9.30pm flight! - and we were just ushered back into the terminal and sent to different hotels without any checking of passports again - so when I went back to the airport the next day and I was checked, there was a 2nd departure) - but would it be best to pre-plan to contact that airline now and request they write an official letter confirming the cancelled flight and the time/date and all that, so I'm not caught out later on without proof of this?  That airline is notoriously slow in doing anything (it took them 8 months to respond to my complaint about that flight and the financial impact I took because of it) so I figure it can't hurt to contact them now just in case...

Thanks in advance for responding to my obsessive detail-oriented questions!

The thing is that you're not supposed to bring your phone inside (at least in Russia). YOu'll be able to leave it in a special locker. So the only way to show the proof is to print it out. Plus it takes less time I guess than scrolling, going back and forth from chats to pics on the phone. And they try to save time.

Thanks for that Marta! I guess I'll just transfer all the screen caps to my computer and slowly start printing them out at work

  3. Has anyone had experience with just say, bringing their phone for this sort of thing?   My partner & I are discussing applying for the K-1 and looking at the requirements it seems easier/cheaper in the long run to just keep everything digital unless they want to keep stuff?

I'm a bit of a hippy at heart and it hurts my sensibilities a little to think of printing off loads screen shots or snippets of conversations when I can just as easily hand the IO my phone and tell them to feel free to look through anything they want - photos are all there, screen shots, my Facebook profile (showing that he & I interact and that I'm 'friends' with his family & some of his friends that I've met during visits) and our chat logs/call logs (we use Facebook calling for the most part as it works better on mobile data than Viber or Whatsapp) - in modern times I actually think this could be better because iPhone (not sure about Android) adds a time/date and location stamp to photos taken on it - so photos of us together are geo-located to the places we took them which backs up the visits.

  4. hey folks!

My partner and I are just starting to look into our options re K-1 or Spousal visa - it seems this question would apply no matter which.

In the section for my details, it asks about my parents and their country of residence.   Sadly both of them are deceased (my mother 25 years ago, my father a few months ago) - in this case I'm thinking that I should either put "Australia" as that was where both lived their whole life, or should I put 'Deceased" or "Australia - Deceased" in order for full disclosure?

I know how long this process can take so obviously I want to give as much info as possible without going overboard and potentially causing red flags for later (like for if I want to visit on a tourist visa while waiting on the proper one - if they have records that I'm an orphan I don't want them to claim I haven't got sufficient ties to want to come back to Australia).

    Thanks in advance!
