    Thanks!

What's packet 3 exactly? we have not received it and I'm not sure what it is and if I (petitioner) receive it in the US or if he (beneficiary) receives it in Haiti.

Packet 3 is basically the embassy telling your fiancee you filed and what next step to take usually it’s suppose to go to the beneficiary address in Haiti but physical mail is not their expertise over there, my fiancee received it 1 day before she need to go to the interview but the best alternative is to request it by email from the embassy of Haiti once NVC send your case over there. It’s been a while but I posted packet 3 in this thread, in the month of march I think. And you should find a template on how to send the email to the embassy somewhere in here too.  But you basically need to tell them your case number and email asking them to send it to the email you provide.

    Congrats SW1315!

I just thought I'd update that my fiancé and my NOA2 finally arrived end of May - no online update just got the hardcopy. We've done the DS-160, scheduled an interview (July 26 #######.. 55 days out from the day we booked, everything is taking the max amount of time), and requested packet 3.

I'm wondering though - where do you find the NVC in transit/received information? Is that on the ceac site? Do you use the receipt/case number? Applicant ID number from DS-160 confirmation? Immigrant or non-immigrant visa? I'm not being able to get in - but maybe it also doesn't matter since it's all moving ahead.

Thanks for all your crowd sourced knowledge!

It doesn’t really matter it just help to know, but you you the case number PTP........ and I think it’s non-immigrant if not choose the other one. And once you get packet 3 do medical and it should be simple from there.

fiance was given a form stating that we must create an account and print something out befoe we can pick up the passport but it looks like we have already created this account before  back when were booking the interview appointment not sure if its the same account or if we have to create a new on and its asking us to print something . any suggestions please

Same one you don’t need to do anything at this point, just wait check the account it will go blank but to get an idea when it’s ready check ceac. Once the traveldocs website say ready to pick up, that’s when you need to go to new appointment, I think you choose document delivery the you choose a visa type, k1 is not in there so choose one close enough, and they will give you the passport.

Hi guys! I am in the states & applying for my fiance in Haiti.

I sent in the petition back in October 2017 —> got our NOA1 in December or January —> did not get the NOA2 (I think it got lost in the mail), but I did check the status and saw that our case was approved 4/2018 —> then got the email saying it was sent to the embassy in Haiti last week (5/2018).

So from what I understand, are we to wait for the embassy in Haiti to contact my fiance before doing the ds-160 application?

    Appreciate the help!

You need to schedule an interview just like @N&Rdorcy said then do medical. I am not sure they will need you to show a copy of the NOA2 although sometimes they do, so fill the ds-160 your fiancee need tou sign and submit it digitally, sign up at traveldocs pay visa, schedule an interview and go do medical with packet 3 and the interview receipt.

You should email the embassy and ask for packet 3 right now if you haven’t done so already.

Hi guys so my fiance's interview is tomorrow morning.

I have sent him all necessary documents via DHL

Heres the problem: we decided to go over our documents this morning to make sure everything is in the right place but what happened is the I-130 document theres a page where i guess i was supposed to put my work address and work information but instead i put his by mistake and it can be easily corrected except all the printing places are closed and his interview is tomorrw morning.  so he cant pront another page to re-enter the correct info i really would like to know if they even ask for the form? along with that ive also submited 3 months worth of paystub that includes my work address and information i also have another print out with that information . do you think they will actually look at the i-130 page by page line by line and notice the mistake and if so is it a big deal if i already have other legitiment documents stating where i work how much i get paid so on ???

I am guessing you meant the I-134 but no they didn’t ask anyone in here for it, I am in the second stage they will have a form for that when you are filing for adjustment. Although it said on VJ to have it which is always safe never actually heard of them asking for it. And no it’s not that big of a deal people make mistakes you just have to acknowledge it when and if they ask. If you really worrying about it make the correction send it to him he can actually print it out in the morning before the interview they have places by the embassy where they do so. Good luck!

p.s. tell him not to volunteer any information they didn’t ask for it, they will ask if they need anything.

I am sure everything will be ok but still it didn’t need to be that complicated that’s what this forum is for. Your case may be unique in that sense but I think you shouldn’t have to create another account that’s mainly why they are not letting you use the same passport number. But changing a number also mean that you have iven someone else’s passport number althought unlikely they will be trying to get same type of visa.

The other thing is that’s the only way I believe dhl will tell you to pick it up, ceac won’t do so.

  7. 2 hours ago, Kween said:

When you have to send something back to the Embassy through dhl you have to create an account, but we already had an account so we couldn't duplicate it so the person at dhl told my fiance when that happens they change one number on the passport because that's the only way to print out the paper to pick the passport and visa back up when it's ready. They said they do it all the time. They said the embassy will know it's a mistake and fix it.  I will send pic

Oh my God don’t ever listen to those people, I understand they work there but most of them just do stuff. And no you don’t have to create a new account you already had one that’s what it’s for. @Dee&Claudy went through the process easily just from the same account you can print the papers out to submit your documents. I myself did when my mom was coming over.

  8. 1 hour ago, Kween said:

Nothing has been showing on the embassy website I don't know why. Maybe it's because when my fiance printed the paper out at dhl to send his passport and paperwork he had to change one number on his passport on the paper to send because it wouldn't print out. So maybe that's why it's not showing on the website

You can’t change the number of the passport just for the sake of printing the whole point of the passport number is to keep track of it so they can tell you when it’s ready if they don’t have the really number than they probably won’t be able to tell you when to pick it up. Please tell me I misunderstood!

And how is that possible the passport number is taking from the ds-160 I was aware you could change it.

Can someone please explain this to me. Sorry as I am sure it was answered before but my phone acts up when I try to go to previous pages on here. My fiance had his interview on May 15th and they gave him a two-to-one g we sent it by DHL back to the Embassy on May 16th DHL said the embassy will receive it May 17th we have not received any confirmation that it was received so we just waited it out. Our status has been in AP until this morning May 25th it said ready for interview, and then also May 25th maybe 20 minutes later it said AP again with 2 business days and our case also changed from immigrant from Nonimmigrant... so can you guys please explain to me did we get approved? Is he going to get his Visa issued soon? Please please help once again please forgive me for asking this question as I have read before someone asked about it it's just hard for me to go back to previous VJ pages it always exit me out with my phone. Thanks in advance

Sorry I have been busy lately haven’t login in a while. But to your question(s) I don’t think anyone ask that specifically but on ceac it always goes back in forth, yes I believe you are approved, although I think @Dee&Claudy is better suites to answer that question as she is one of the people that had to submit papers to dhl. I think you just need to wait a little longer as it has been only 10 days if you sent papers back you should wait a little longer it will probably all good by next week. And you should also check ht embassy site to check your status it should have said when it was at the embassy and that’s also where you will know when to pick it up. I know you hear that too much but at this stage it’s just keep checking your email and everything and wait because there is not much that I know of you can do.

    @Sej @Dee&Claudy

Interview was on the 17th and was approved. Ceac page states, "no status" and ustravelsdoc.com/ht, went blank. Originally had DHL pick up location. Please advise. A bit worried. Thanks.

Just wait a few days, nothing will happen on the weekend, 18 was flag day in haiti so everything was probably close. It should say issued pretty soon. As long as you get approve all you need to do is wait a week or so.

  11. 2 hours ago, Loyal Empress said:

@N&Rdorcy was the delivery section blank before it said passport has been received, the address was listed before the interview then the next day everything went away is this normal.

Just keep checking, and it will appear. I know it’s weird. But I think it will say something else after visa issued on ceac, not sure.

Hi, we did not create another account. When you initially created account did you specify which location you wanted to pick up documents? If so you should be okay. They will notify you by email when passport is ready to be picked up.@Sej i know i havent been on here for over a month now but could you chime in if im wrong.

Nope you are right on the money. They will try to convince you otherwise though

Thank you guys so much. I tried to get vaccines but they said since in leaving Sat its to late so I have no meds to protect me against anything so I'm bumbed out aboyt that. The phone i have does come with a way to take out the battery so I can't bring an extra battery so really bumbed about that. You at i can get a phone there? If so,will I be able to call and check on my daughter in America with the phone?

For the vaccines I don’t know, I was born in Haiti and when going back never really thought about taking any vaccines I never get sick when coming back but you just have to make sure not to drink any type of water, always bring your own(not from U.S.) They sell treated water there. For showering make sure you know where the water comes from and make sure it’s treated, aquatab works or 1or 2 drops of chlorox basically take shower with water you would drink it might cost more but worth it. Yes you can get a phone there you can call ur daughter it’s not expensive, I am sure ur fiance should know how those stuff works. Like I said local always knows more although some people can live there since birth and manage to know nothing, but you will always find someone who can guide you in the ways just make sure it’s someone you trust. The water and hygiene stuff you have to make sure of that yourself.

P.S. it’s not as scary as I make it sound but those advice will work for the most fragile person.

The visa process is still revealing itself to me but this I can speak to! I live in Haiti (Port-au-Prince/Leogane).

Don't worry, enjoy your visit - seriously violent crime in Haiti is not statistically particularly bad and is mostly within the usual realms, gangs, politics, organized crime etc. Keep your eyes open and don't go waving money and electronics in the air, don't put anything valuable in your checked luggage, keep your purse closed, stick to bottled/Culligan/purified water, and other common sense business. You can fly direct to Okap and it's a much smaller, calmer airport. Still airports are where I feel most at risk (that and leaving banks and being in the posh elite/expat zones), just make sure he or a friend or family of his is picking you up (you'll need $10 exact to pay a tourist fee on entry). You can get a local sim and pop it in your US phone. I bring as much cash as I'll need as ATMs aren't ubiquitous and then change it to gourdes as needed (grocery stores are good for that if he doesn't have someone in the area to do it). I've been hearing about some protests up there but these things tend to be super localized and he should be able to get the word on the street and navigate for you. (Oh but you have to interview in Port-au-Prince at the embassy right? So if you fly to PaP same thing - make sure you have someone lined up to meet you at the airport, motos can't go in anymore so it's gotta be a car)

Every few weeks it seems like there is a small protest or some sort of activity around the embassy. I think they're generally pretty low key and peaceful but you can sign up for email alerts from the US state dept/embassy in PaP just to get a heads up (though they're a bit alarmist in my opinion). And in your benefit, they don't generally start super early in the day.

Otherwise, standard tropical packing list: bug spray, sunscreen, brimmed hat, loose clothing, a back up battery for your phone is a good idea since depending on accommodations electricity isn't guaranteed all the time. If you have a sensitive digestive system an anti-diarrhial and a broad-spectrum anti-biotic wouldn't hurt to pack but they are also available at any pharmacy here.  Anti-malarials, tetanus, dengue I think? and hepatitis and maybe more are all recommended by the state dept/cdc. Make of it what you will. My vaccines are all up to date but I don't do well with anti-malarials ... personal risk assessment.

Best advice ever, couldn’t say it better myself. There is always a lot of hype when traveling to Haiti about security which is true in some sense but that’s any country in the world.  Best advice is stay low key, dress as simple as possible not too much jewelry or none at all even if it’s cheap, it’s not safe over there if you don’t know and look vunerable they will take advantage of you but if you have someone just make them pick you up. And yes if you keep your phone out too long in public they will take it, if you want you can buy a cheap one for call and text. Enjoy your stay it can be fun just stay safe and all the dangerous places are mostly in the capital. The provinces are usually safer.

Hello all. Finally after 7 weeks and 4 days our case is transferred thank GOD...for all of you that already have your visa can you please let me know witch pick up location you used and how long did it take each of you to pick it up from interview date? Thanks

It doesn’t matter for the pick up location just make sure you pick one he know and can get to fast.  I pick the one by the airport because it’s the most common one and my fiance didn’t leav too far from there but if someone leave in petion-ville it’s better to pick the one there. And after the interview it took about a week or so to get the passport but it can take more or less as you know it all depend on the situation.

Sorry I wasn't clear. Yes, we are trying to fix the pronoun. My question is on the list of documents does birth certificate = extrait d'archive or does copy = extrait d'archive? Thanks!

Ok extrait d’archive is birth certificate, having a Haitian birth certificate doesn’t mean anything until you actually get the “extrait” which is basically a validation of your birth certificate by the haitian government. So the U.S. embassy usually just care about the extrait d’archive, and yes copy just refer to a copy of the extrait d’archive because they won’t keep the original.  So in theory after you get your extrait d’archive your actual birth certificate is kind of useless but always bring it just in case.

We only had a 1-2 members who are in the Embassy/Consulate stage the rest of us are still waiting on our NOA2. Not sure how this assumption came about. Is there anyway to resume this forum to its original stage?

I am not totally sure but I don’t think this changes much I think it just refer to the fact that this thread was moved into that category and when search for it you would find it in the embassy consulate forum instead of k-1 process.  But we do have all kind of applicant with different stages but all of them have the embassy in common. Cause I myself came here when I received my NOA2 and wasn’t sure what the haitian nvc to embassy process was like.

@S.W1315You can email them. Complete ds-160 and pay the visa cause interview slots are going fast. When do you think your fiance will receive his passport? In my opinion, I would say complete everything that needs to be done cause by the time you're done with everything,  you might have to wait for New slots to open for interview.

Yeah you are right cause more people are getting approve and the slot are going faster than early in the year.

Hey guys so my fiance's case says ready but i have not started the Ds-160 process because i am waiting for my fiances passport he had to get it renewed. is it ok to email the embassy for packet 3 or do we have to wait until we have submitted ds-160 and paid the fee?

It all depends on when you will get the passport. You will need it to complete ds-160 and you need the ds-160 to get an interview. You can get the packet-3 it won’t hurt anything but you can’t do anything with it until you get the passport.

@dot13 ok thank you is the mvr receipt number the one that says cgi reference number

You will have to wait tomorrow just like @Dot13 said.  You will receive an email tonight or tomorrow morning clearly stating the mvr number, that same email will tell you that you can schedule an appointment after 9:00am. Don’t do anything on a rush cause of you mess up will just set you back more time, just relax you waited a while the process will be over soon and how fast you are won’t make a big difference, trust me on that one.

@Sej I'm gathering all paperwork for interview, please let me know if I'm missing anything

    i-134Affidatif support

    extrait d'archives +copyBeneficiary

    pictures

    chat logs

    last 4months of paychecks

last 3 years of tax return

    Beneficiary 4 passports pictures

    copy of NAO 2

Beneficiary passport and copy of bio page

    Money transfer proof

-The receipt they gave you after you paid for the visa that’s very important. Make sure beneficiary knows a lot about you and the dates you visited. For paper work you all good, with the I-134f             -A letter from work (income verification) would do good but in my opinion not important.

-The interview page is also needed.

-Also police certificate if possible to get it, they do ask for it to the unlucky ones.

Most of them are on top of my head and base on what my fiance needed.

  22. 1 minute ago, Loyal Empress said:

Your awesome thank you so much I really appreciate you this whole process will give me high blood pressure at the end

No problem the key is relax take your time this way you won’t make mistakes.  But you do need to pay that visa asap so you can get a good date because I went in and in a couple of minutes may 9th was full. After you pay the visa you can schedule your interview the next day. Make sure you give your self enough time to prepare otherwise you will be set back if you forget stuff at the interview.
