Thanks Looky!  You're in Philadelphia?  We're about an hour from you if so! :)

I was referring to food stamps in the form of benefits - not unemployment.  I went ahead and applied for them using just my son and I and someone from the office has already been in touch with us to sort it out.  She said food stamps should have no impact at all on my husband's status.  I'm off work today so going to do some more reading up about it to see.  Things are getting better but it would be nice to have a bit of help in that way.  Thanks for your input.

Ok yeah I don't know much about benefits, I hope the food stamps works out. Yeah right now I'm in NJ suburbs of philly. Still didn't get my wife here, still have to go thru some hoops of weird things that happened to her before  we can get to the Visa. I have to find a new job now and might have to move. Maybe when I get my wife here we can celebrate with you and your husband! Hopefully I can get her here by the end of the year or early next year.

Hi everyone! Hubby's green card got sent to my parents address... and they were in another state for a few months ... so it got returned!  I had no idea it would get to us so fast.  Now we're awaiting a replacement one.

Anyone know about applying for benefits?  I know my husband is forbidden to get any kind of gov assistance because he was sponsored but ... what about my young son and I?  Our pay checks just are not cutting it, sadly.

Hi Blanche, take this with a grain of salt, but I think the fact that your husband was sponsored has nothing to do with it. The fact is that you two had been married way more than 2 years before you recently entered the US, right? That pretty much means he has full rights to work in the US, About him getting unemployment benefits, well normally one must have worked enough in the US to get unemployment benefits. But since you both had lived in the US in the past, maybe some of his past work in the US would help in that but I don't know, I guess it may depend on if he can still verify his US work in the past and if the unemployment benefits department accepts that past work. Otherwise I hope your co-sponsors can help you out, cause that's what they signed up for.

    Good Luck

Well everyone my husband went to his interview in November. An we got put in AP for more wedding pics and our Cosponsor. My husband forgot to give the officer her AOS package with the other one. So we went all of them back in to the embassy. After being on AP for 1 1/2 mos I looked on the website Thurs and it said that his visa was "REFUSED". We don't know why it was refused but I have an idea. But we haven't heard anything back from them as of this morning. So now we're at a stand still with this process all over again ?.

Ms.F.brown thats terrible!!! I would suggest getting your congressman or senator involved. It sounds like the officer wasn't satisfied that your marriage was legitmate. I'm sorry to hear that but I hope you get the answers soon on how to resolve this.

  4. No, He's a US citizen. Yes I don't want to risk it by using my visitor visa since I've waited so long. But some times I just think of giving it a try.

Oh ok, well then its hard to tell, it could be either just an extra backlog of cases, or they are doing some Administrative Processing where they do extra checks before approving your case.

Well if you try going to the US, I would think you should have a return ticket to India, and some good reason that you need to return. I think you know how tiring the trip is and worse if they don't let you enter th US.

  5. Hello everyone, I think I'm the only one waiting for approval with PD Dec 9th 2015. It's really frustrating. Did two service requests. Last one said we would hear something within 60 days but didn't hear anything. On 19th NSC transferred my case to Vermont service center. God know for what reason. My husband lives in California and it doesn't even come under jurisdiction of Vermont service enter. It's getting tough. I have visitor visa of US for 10 years. I could have gone but thought that it wouldn't take long so I didn't go. What should I do guys? Any suggestions. I know I just have to keep patience and wait. But it's getting tough these days. It's been more than a year. ???

    * Dec 19th got transfer update.

Sorry to hear its taking so long. Your husband is a permanent resident correct? For US citizens Visas are always available and so most of us don't have to go through that PD mess. These days they transfer cases to other centers when there is a backlog at the other center.

It can be a risk trying to get in on a visitor Visa when you are married cause they can send you back if you cannot prove you don't have things requiring you to go back to India.

Unfortunately I don't think there is much you can do but wait for your Visa to become available.

    Good luck.

  6. Guess what, folks? We are STILL waiting for approval.

My heart is in my throat most of this week as I THINK this is the week they should finally send us the approval. But I can't be sure - of course, none of us can be on this journey. So just wanted to let you all know. I'm more than eager to get back to America. Please say a prayer or anything you believe in to help us get his visa this week.

The US consulate has his passport now along with the last batch of papers they asked for. I don't feel like getting into all the details as I already run them through my head on a daily basis! But the last e-mail I got from them said "send in the form along with his passport" which makes me believe the case is approved now once they got that. And they got it on Nov 28th.

When I checked the status on-line it seems like our case was updated on the 28th of Nov then again on the 5th of December so I'm HOPING that means all is flowing along and it's just the logistics of printing the visa, preparing the package for us. I HOPE SO!!!! I keep telling myself that no news is good news. My hands are almost shaking every time I get a notification of a new e-mail. Nerve wracking! I just want to get this moving abroad show on the road finally! Thanks for listening! :) Blanche

Well Blanche, sorry to hear you are still waiting for that approval. There are a few of us still in the same boat. Me, I went to Latvia to be with my wife and help her get the IV documents, because she is sick, only to find myself in an icy ditch, in Riga, with a broken hip bone and out of the hospital by Monday. We all go through the pains to get to the promised land. But in the end it will all be worth it, and the pains will be long gone history!

  7. Hey guys thabks for the love and the contentment. Baby is out of NICU and case is approved waiting on interview date... here's to hoping for a December interview date..... so here is my question do I need to redo my I860 for thw support to add the baby in or not. Cause honestly I don't want any issues at the embassy.

Hi RSDP thats great news on your son! :) I hope somebody else also responds on the I-864 cause this sounds like it could delay your case. So I would really like somebody to say I am wrong, but... The NVC approved your I-864 without you adding him in as a dependent right? So if you updated it with the NVC they might have to delay your getting an interview date. :(

  8. Hey guys, update from me. I've been missing due to high risk pregnancy, but I have read all your stories and am supper proud of all of you. My paperwork is in nvc and tomorrow will make the 6 weeks cut. Hopefully we get an answer by then..... I had a wonderful baby boy on Halloween eve. He is in the NICU but us doing wonderful.... Husband can't wait to meet him and I was praying he would be here by Christmas but this wish is slowly fading away

Congratulations RSDP! I think its relatively common to have a pre-mature baby and in most cases there's no problem. Its great that he is doing well! :)

  9. hey lookywhatiFound

sorry to hear about your story

i hope you get back on track and get your visa soon

a little update on our side

it has been 3 months since my wife entered the US and still we don't have the green card

raised this issue with USCIS and they have us a service ticket

will be calling them in two weeks

Hi Sanil1986, hopefully they get you the Green Card soon. Unfortunately the headaches with dealing with USCIS start again with the Removal of Conditions.

In a way we will catch up to your case cause we've been married over 2 years so she will get the IR1 which will mean getting a 10 year Green Card right of the bat and not having to deal with the Removal of Conditions stuff. So really we're in a good situation and will finish this stuff soon.

  10. hey guys, long time no chat just thought i would check in.

the folks that are still waiting hope your light at the end of the tunnel is coming soon

we moved to Michigan back in September, because I did a J1 visa years ago I already had a social security number so I was able to setup bank accounts, get a phone and do my drivers test pretty quickly. I currently have two job offers on the table so I will pick one soon and then start work. Family are settling in well and its great to have so much of the extended family around too which makes the adjustment period so easy.

hope all is well with everyone who has made the move so far (or their spouse has), would love to know how you are all getting on with your new lives!

Congrats dub42 sounds like you've found yourself a new place to hang your hat, and a home too!

  11. Everything happens for a reason...even if it's just so that the dog can have a loving home. You will be together soon.

I have my interview in London on December 6. I'm getting very excited at being able to see my husband again. I hope he recognises me after all these months.

Everything happens for a reason, true. My wife and her mother never really got along together and my wife has always been gallivanting to other countries like Cyrus and England. But I've always thought she needs to spend more time with her mother, cause in life you just never know. So this time together is good for both of them, and also they seem to be getting along, so that's good!

December 6th is just around the corner. Oh your husband will recognize you, although if you are like my wife who tends to change her looks, hairstyles, sunglasses etc, even I've found it hard to perfectly recognize her from a distance. Cause you know it would be quite embarrassing to run towards somebody and hug them, only to realize you don't know this person!

You'll do great at your interview!

  12. Hi JFH, everything is going fine. We purposely delayed doing the IV and AOS package cause she had already started taking this all day yoga fitness classes. So she had no time to get any of the paperwork together. Also she really enjoyed those classes so we were set on waiting 2 more months to do the paperwork.

But then just when we got the application sent to get the UK police certificate her landlord told her the flats were unlivable and she would have to move, end of September. What's even crazier is that the person she was using to endorse the report was missing, nowhere to be found! So the whole application got rejected! Now the only person that meets the UK police certificate endorser is on vacation for a month so we have to wait until she comes back.

Yes its unfortunate what happened, but maybe for the better. She lives now in Riga, same city as the embassy so no problem at all to go for the medical and the interview, and also no issue with leaving her dog somewhere, since her mother can take care of the dog,

Initially when I contacted NVC, I wrote that probably the embassy would be Poland cause thats where people from the baltic countries previously had to go to get their Visa processing done. But then to my surprise after looking at the US Embassy in Latvia site they talk about Visa processing pretty much as they do on other embassy sites!

Thank you for your concern, JFH.

So how about you JFH, how are you and your case progressing?

  13. As far as I know there are a few people here that haven't got there petition approved by USCIS. Daylight, Sophjosh, and a guy whose name evades me. Hope some of you have got approved!

Me, well we were about ready ti do the IV and AOS package, and my wife got caught in an unlucky streak. She was forced to leave the flat she was living in, cause of severe roof damage from storms. She thought she found another place to live but the landlord turned out to be one of those BREXIT isolationists that want foreigners out of the country.

To make a long story short she ended up going back to her mothers place in Latvia. Fortunately I checked and found that Latvia now processes Visas. I asked NVC and they gave us a case number for Latvia!

  14. Hey everyone, I think I have good news. 3 NA's showed up on my ceac account yday so I called and confirmed and they said my case is complete! I haven't gotten an email or anything about it yet so going to wait till the end of this week to see if I do. I had gotten a checklist on 7/1 and have been going back and forth with the supervisor since then about my marriage certificate so I'm glad to be past that stage. Been keeping an eye on other Indian applicants and I don't think we'll be having the visa interview for at least another 2 months.

Congratulations AH88! Just the interview left! :D

  15. I'm feeling so fed up, out of patience with regards to our case. I was so patient going into this, expecting it could take up to a year but sheesh, it's wearing on me. We are stuck in the NVC stage now. I sent them all our official documents, in the order they requested - tripled checked it before mailing it - then I get a letter saying you didn't include your spouse's military records. I most certainly did because it was one we had to wait a few weeks to receive here in the mail. It was in Hebrew but was not required to be translated. I'm guessing the genius that opened our package didn't see it? Dropped it on the floor and it went flying in the wind somewhere? They didn't recognize it for what it was? I have no idea, just guesses. I'm calling them every Monday to check on the case. They got my 2nd copy of the military record on June 24th and say to me all the time, 'we received your mail and it can take up to 6 weeks for us to review it.' Beyond frustrating. I just want to get on a plane and start my life there. OUR life there. I could leave my husband here to wait but ... no matter how often I've thought of doing that I just can't bring myself to do it. It's been 20 business days since then. Each week I hope THIS will be the one when I get an email from them. Here's hoping THIS is the week, ughhhhh.

Hi Blanche, sorry to hear this has gotten so frustrating for you. Here's hoping that your case finishes up in the next week or so, so you can finally get back home!

  16. Yesterday, we finally got our first case status update after our initial NOA1. It was 7 months and 1 day after our NOA1. Unfortunately, we got an RFE, so it's going to be another month or two added on to our already asinine wait. No idea what they want from us. Does anyone know if we can check what the RFE says online? We had trouble receiving mail from USCIS back in December so I'm worried that we might not get this letter in the mail and I don't want to have to wait until August 21st to be able to submit an e-request in case we don't get anything in the mail. (The email we got said that we can submit an e-request if we don't get anything in the mail by August 21st).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    -Reg

Hi Reggie, like JFH said your RFE info is only on the actual document. Back in December were you able to find out at all what the problem was why you did not get the mail? I don't know if they handle it differently for RFEs but I've heard of others on this forum change their address to the address of someone they know in the US, and then have USCIS resend it to that address.

Its good you finally heard about your case, just hope you can get this mail issue fixed somehow.

  17. Just thought I'd post this for anyone who wants to contact NVC.

Also some info that they gave for anyone that might be delaying the NVC process a little.

Here's NVC reply to my email which I didn't send thru their official form and didn't put birth dates on it. But anyway they verified for me what I wanted to know, which is that I can delay sending the AOS and IV package without any issue.

    IMPORTANT:

If your visa petition is currently processing at the National Visa Center, do not let more than one year pass without contacting NVC. If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact (by telephone, mail, or e-mail) with NVC, all submitted fees and documents expire. If this occurs, the fees must be paid again and documents must be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

  18. Hey guys..its been a long terrible and frustrating experience for I and hubby...everyone here are in different phases of this process and we are still stuckd at CSC....two months since they received the RFE and nth......welll still at that I wish u guyz all the very best..cheers

So sorry to hear that Sophjosh. Was always hoping that you'd get approved soon. Don't know maybe they have you in some sort of Administrative Processing. Wishing it comes through for you in the next month.
