  1. I got this from another source:

    If you are still in possession of the I-94 or I-94W it is your responsibility to ensure that it is surrendered to the appropriate authorities so that your record is corrected and that you do not experience any problems on future travel to the United States as a result.

    You are required to complete the back of the card listing the port of departure and date of departure from the United States and the carrier/flight information. The I-94 or I-94W together with a letter of explanation and evidence of your departure from the U.S. should be sent to

    ACS - USCIS, SBU, P.O Box 7125,

    London, KY 40742-7125,

    USA

    Do not mail the I-94/I-94W to the Consulate/Embassy as the DHS (Immigration) office does not have the authority to update records.

    You also need to provide evidence of your departure from the United States. The evidence can come from a variety of sources, including but not limited to:

    • Original boarding passes you used to depart the United States;

    • Entry or departure stamps in your passport to indicate you entered another country after you departed the United States (please copy all passport pages that are not completely blank and include the biographic page containing your photograph);

    • Dated pay slips or vouchers from your employer to indicate that you worked in another country after you departed the United States;

    • Dated bank records showing transactions in your home country to indicate that you were in another country after your left the United States;

    • School records showing your attendance at a school outside the United States to indicate you were in another country after you left the United States;

    • Dated credit card receipts with the credit card number deleted for purchases you made after you departed the United States to indicate you were in another country after you left the United States.

    Please send legible copies or the original material where possible. If you send original materials please retain a copy for your records; the originals will not be returned to you. It will assist the USCIS if you include an explanation letter in English.

  2. You say the main reason you want to move is to with your girlfriend, and that really only leaves the fiancee/marriage option.

    The best option is, in your case, probably going to be the K-1 visa however you must make sure you are both comfortable and ready to commit this far. Its a pcoess that can take anywhere from 4 months to over a year (all depending on visa service centers (although if filing from NY you will have Vermont which is usually quicker) and the country of the beneficiary (Although I guess UK in your case being in this forum :)).

    There are tons of resources and knowledge on this site, plenty of step by step guides I recommend reading to make sure this is the right step forward. Just check out the quide section and have a read of the K-1 process and checklist. It sounds like you are already collecting evidence, which is a good thing :) so, so far no real problems. Make sure you have enough evidence of support (money basically, check out the guides on this site for more) or co-support and make sure you have things like divorce papers if applicable etc

    Good luck!

  3. I'm a little concerned about this too. As we are currently living together, we no longer get any utility bills (all paid for upfront), we obviously don't email, we do call, but the phone contract is under our name....

    Gonna start getting parents and friends to send us mail addressed to both of us!

    Has anyone had experience of having the petitioner with them at the interview? Does this provide any benefits?

  4. Hello everyone!!! I´m starting my visa journey this month -- I´ll be a February filer!! I´m currently in Brazil with my fiance but will be returning to the US is a month. I was wondering if there would be any problem with me sending the k1 packet from Brazil? Is there any sort of rule which says it must be mailed from the US? All other correspondence will be from the US; you see, we´re just trying to maximize our together time because as you all know that time apart can be gut wrenching. So we figure we can shave month or two off of the separation time by sending it while I´m here. My father will check the mail for me so if any request for information or anything like that comes within the month that I am here then he´ll let me know. The way I see it going is that I send it from here, they recieve it, I get the NOA1 (i dont have to do anything with the NOA1 do I?) and then a few weeks after that arrives I´ll have arrived and be working and waiting for the NOA2.

    Any answers, ideas or responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck to everyone on their journey!!

    Me and my fiancee sent ours from the UK so there is no problem as long as you have a permanent US address :)

  5. I'm in Culpeper. Between Charlottesville and Fredericksburg if you aren't familiar with the town.

    I have a few friends who go to VCU in charlottesville and my fiancee has family close to Roanoak :)

    Its a beautiful area around shenandoah isn't it?

  6. I left my car in the US while I finish up my degree in the UK (I'm the UK Citizen)

    I miss my car so much and had a ball with it while I was in the US for 18 months. To get my license; I know in VA they require a social security number, proof of residency (bank account, pay slip I know are guaranteed) plus at least 3 proofs of identity - which can include bank account, passport, visa, social security card etc.

    I wonder if I will have to do the driving test again when I return? I hope not! Although it was rediculously easy!
