  1. Well yesterday June 19th was Day 90 for my AOS application through DORA in Oklahoma City and I haven't heard a word, no "70 day letter", no touches, nothing since Day 40. So without telling me, my hubby yesterday called the Senator's office to see if they could do anything. He wasn't going to tell me about it but he had to leave a message and a lady called him back today here at home needing my A # and my reciept # so he had to come clean......bless his heart!

The big thing for me is I want to get my AED and AP if they aren't going to get my GC to me soon. She said they used to get replies back within a week and now sometimes they don't hear anything either for a month. I'm also going to make an infopass appt. for the 1st week in July, can't get there any sooner so I'll just have to wait. If I should get my GC before then I can cancel the appt. Let's see if the Senator's office gets us anywhere.

  2. Well, I'm getting a little frustrated here waiting on the AOS. I'm happy with my EAD, don't get me wrong, but it drives me nuts that I have not had any touches in a month and heck! I mailed the packet at the end of February! I worry that I am stuck in namecheck hell. For those of you who have called CSC to check on your cases, how did you do so? When I call, none of the options seem applicable to me. Will they tell you if you are stuck in namecheck hell? Or if the person looking at your file has gone on vacation or whatever?

    Mo

I guess I'm in namecheck limbo at CSC also. My last touch was April 27th. :( I haven't bothered calling anyone, though. I'm frustrated enough. :jest:

Well I'm frustrated right along there with you....... I haven't had a touch since April 30th and I'm going through the DORA program that is supposed to be the quick route........ ya right!

  3. Susan, what is a 70 day letter?

Apparently with DORA.... if they know by day 70 that they won't be able to process your case and have your Green Card to you in the 90 days...... they send out a letter, known as "the 70 day letter" to inform you of this and I guess they have an appointment date for you to go back in to file for your EAD and AP. As far as I understand from what I have read on here is they will approve them that same day as you have already waited over 70 days and that is the standard time it would have taken to get your EAD and AP if you would have filed for them with AOS. With the DORA program they don't have you file for your EAD and AP as getting your Green Card in 90 days or less would cover work authorization and travelling.

Is there anyone out there that has received the "70 day letter" that can inform us with regards to that?

  4. Hello,

I am actually in the final steps in the DORA program and I am a little worried, so I am writing that for if any person can help me.

I had the DORA interview March 26 in Dallas, TX, everything was perfect, and then I had my fingerprints

    appointment April 27.

So, my green card process should be almost done.

My problem is that when I check my case online in the USCIS website, it did not change since the interview, and I think I should have received any letter, or the online status should have changed when they took my fingerprints or something telling me that my fingerprints were approved by FBI or something like that, but I did not.

I am in panic that something wrong happened to my fingerprints.

Has any person any problem like that? Should I wait more time? Have your online status changed after the FP?

    Thanks a lot

I am going through DORA in Oklahoma City and the same thing is happening with me.... I had my interview on March 21st, biometrics on April 27th and I was touched on April 30th...... nothing at all since then. I especially want my EAD and AP at least but I didn't even get a 70 day letter with regards to them so I'm not sure what is happening. I'm going to make an infopass appointment for the beginning of July and if by some miracle I get my Green Card before then I will just cancel the appt.......

  5. Well, I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm already a VJholic as someone said! It never hurts to read up.

I met my SO last October while playing WoW! He flew out here right before Christmas and we spent a wonderful 11 days together. It was amazing. Admittedly though, I've known from the time I first heard his voice that he was the one from me.

He's down in Idaho, and I'm up in Northern Alberta. It's been difficult so far, but I must say that we are SO lucky that we get to visit at least once a month. I think it's the only thing keeping me sane right now.

We will begin the whole filing process for the I-129F as soon as my divorce is finalized. That kind of makes me a little upset. What a silly mistake I made in marrying my ex, and now it's holding me up from being with my soulmate! Oh well, like my SO says, worrying and being upset about it isn't going to help now is it?! So I'm doing my best not to worry, but the thought of being away from him for another 6 months is heartbreaking, especially when we had originally planned on being together in October when we didn't realize what kind of timeline all these visas had!

Anyhow, that's our story in a nutshell. I look forward to getting to know you guys!

    Thanks!

    Amy

From one Albertan to another......welcome to VJ

  6. After much looking I found a boot tray!! Christmas Tree Shoppes sell them for 2.99!!! :)

I brought two of them that I already had from Canada with me! Wise move I'd say on my part as I've never seen on in any of the stores here in Tulsa. The biggest bonus is hubby is actually using it!

  7. Hey everyone,

Does my fiance need any other documents when entering the U.S. with K1 visa? We will be coming in through Detroit airport...

I heard that you should have the K1-visa petition approval form with you... and was wondering if there are anything else what we should be on the look out for...

    Thanks again for your help!

    Charles

I just had my Visa which was inside my passport and my sealed envelope from my interview. They will take your sealed envelope and staple the I-94 into your passport..... my POE was Calgary International Airport.

  8. I came to the US to visit my fiance while my K1 was pending. I didn't know about VisaJourney at the time and didn't know anything about them perhaps not letting you through if they thought you might be trying to stay permanently. The customs officer asked my where I was going and who I was going to visit....... I just told him I was going to visit friends. He asked me if I had a job, I said yes and he then asked me the name of the company I worked for. I told him and I was on my way with no problems. In situations that I'm not sure of I never offer any more info than I have too and I guess that was once that it paid off.

  9. There are stalling tactics you can use if it looks like it will come up too quick. One of them being that Stéphane would have 4 months after receiving the visa to use it, and then 3 months after arriving here to actually marry.

A K1 Visa is good for 6 months from date of issue.

  10. Thank you! This really does help!

$220 Canadian? Yeesh. I hope it comes with a free wax & detail job. ;)

In Calgary last summer the doctor there charged me $260.00.......so you must have hit a sale  ....... lol!...... and I didn't get any extras either.......plus the doctor had the bedside manner of a knat!

  11. We just completed our initial DORA infopass and AOS interview on 6/7/2007.

With about 2 weeks left in your 90 day schedule, I hope you hear something soon! Shouldn't you get a letter around day 75 if the USCIS deteremines it can't make it's deadline?

I know that we were told to expect a little longer wait due to the price increases and everyone rushing to complete it before the deadline. (hehe...Hard to fault folks for wanting to save $600+.....just to wait like the rest of us!)

    Good Luck, Susan and Mike!!!

Yes...... you are supposed to get a 70 day letter if they can't finish your case within the 90 day timeframe so that you can go in and apply for your EAD and AP. I have heard of so many screw ups with this whole process that I really don't believe something till I see it. I haven't had a touch or anything since a few days after my biometrics appt so I'm not really sure what is happening. There doesn't seem to be many people on here that have gone through DORA in OKC so I have no other timelines to compare things to. If there are others they aren't posting about it. Keep posting your timeline....... maybe it can be of help to others that file after you. Much success in your journey also.

  12. Hello. My fiance and I are getting a bit concerned about me entering the states 3 months after my visa was granted. He will come to my country to get me and that makes me feel better, but i was wondering if someone had gone through something similar. Thanks in advance.

I moved to the US 5 1/2 months after receiving my visa so there was only 15 days left on it..... everything was fine, nothing was even mentioned with regards to it when I went through my POE.

  13. yassmine,

The G-325A is a supporting document for the I-485, not a stand-alone filing, and there is no fee associated with it. Read the I-485 instructions to find out what is required.

We're about to file AOS at the Dallas office with the DORA program. Is there anyone else in the DFW area who has recently done this and can help me figure out how much I need to be paying? Ive done a bit of digging around the forum, but Im still having trouble finding the right info. We're not filing for the EAD or travel waiver, just the I-485, fingerprints, and the G-325A. Ive heard conflicting info on whether or not we actually have to file the G-325A at all. Do my husband and I both fill out the G-325A? If so, do we pay the $70.00 fee for each one, or both? Or is this form not required at all? The fee sheet they included is very confusing. Any info from DORA folks is greatly appreciated.

I went through DORA in Oklahoma City and they make the US citizen also fill out a G325A, but only one copy as with the immigrant we need to fill out the four copies. Also in Oklahoma City with DORA they required 2 passport pictures of my hubby (the USC). These things are not mentioned in the instructions. Are there any Dallas DORA couples out there that also had to do this or is it just an Oklahoma City thing?

  14. Question in all of this:

How do I provide a copy of my VISA when I haven't crossed the border yet myself. When you get the VISA in the mail from Montreal...can you open the envelope or is it another of those 'don't open it' situations until the border guy has.

Sorry - haven't gotten to that step in the process yet to knwo any better :)

Your visa will be in your passport...... I just made copies of everything and gave them to the truck driver. With using ABF they told me I had to prove that I was physically in the US before they released my stuff from the terminal in Calgary and sent it on it's way. So the next day after I arrived in the US I went to the ABF terminal here in Tulsa and they faxed a copy of my I-94 back to the terminal in Calgary and all was well.

ABF drops their trailer front of your residence, you load it.... I loaded over the weekend of March 10/11th, they came back and picked it up on Monday, March 12th..... I flew to Tulsa on Tuesday, March 13th, had ABF in Tulsa fax the copy of my I-94 on Wednesday, March 14th......and they released my stuff and sent it on it's way on Thursday, March 15th.

  15. Just wondering if there are any other couples here that have gone through the DORA program in Oklahoma City for their AOS prior to my date of filing and interview on March 21st/07? Just curious about your timelines as I see people in the Dallas area going through DORA and having their Green Cards in some as quick as 60 to 70 days. I am sitting at day 73 today and haven't had a touch or anything at all since day 40 whichi was just two days after my biometrics appt. Just getting a little anxious.........can you tell?

    Cheers,

  16. My hubby hates turkey........ :( ...... he says his family has it for American Thanksgiving but he just kinda gags a mouthful or two down if he is with them at that time..... most of his family lives about 3.5 hours away from us. And to top that off....... his family never has turkey for Christmas either.... I don't know what I'm going to do here..... they have a ham and a brisket for Christmas. My family tradition in Canada was turkey, stuffing, cabbage rolls...... he hates them too...... Yikes!! :o

Come over to my house, Susan -- you and I will have the turkey, the boys can go out and grill something. :P

I had a good chuckle when I read your post........ it's a date....... and Mike would be in his glory grilling something!
