Hello E&R,
On June 19th, 2017 my wife had her visa interview in Casa Blanca and was handed form DS 5535, we emailed it back around June 23rd, 2017 then our case was updated on July 25th, 2017 as being in Administrative Processing. We will definitely be updating all of you on this thread if any changes occur.
Warm Regards,

Hi fadi, thank you for sharing your experience! my wife also had an interview on july 17 in casablanca and yesterday I received an email about filling out the form DS-5535. they sent me an attachment as well as questions to be answered in form of an email ( I am assuming that's the form?). how did you fill out the form? copied those questions into microsoft Word?, cause I wasn't able to download the attachment. this is what they said
""As arranged at the end of your immigrant visa interview, please fill out the form below and send it back to us for processing. Attached is the official form sent to you just for informational purposes and NOT to fill it out.""
thank you!
Hello, I'm very sorry for the late reply. In our case they gave my wife the form directly after the interview in person and gave her an email address To send the completed form to. I hope that you figured out a way to send them the form, and, again, I wish I could have been more help when you posted. I will definitely keep everybody on this thread up-to-date on anything that happens with our case and I hope for the best for everybody...
take care!

Any updates on your wife's case yet?
I have received DS 5535 after my interview on June 23rd and since then my case is under AP. VO told me that it will take 1-2 weeks to complete the process then on the email next days when they sent me DS 5535 it was mentioned 10-30 days. Did the VO mention any timeline to your wife ?
Hello,
No updates yet, it's been about 31 days. They actually never told us the estimated time it takes to process, I'm just going off of what the immigration website says (within 60 days). That's great that they said 10-30 days, I hope things move swiftly for you. Please do let me know if there are any update

Yes, i called NVC same day after the interview. They told me the same thing and said that I should contact the Embassy for further information. so we are waiting.
when I check CEAC it shows my case was last updated on July 10th. we should wait 60 days when I searched it says most Administrative processing will be solved within 60 days so I'm trying to be optimistic.
Hello rahsab,
I know how you feel. At this point we can only deal with the next steps as the cases progress, and in the meantime we can try to be proactive and always patient optimistic. Being consumed by negativity and worry will never be of any benefit. I pray and believe we will be with our family soon.

That's actually weird, but it helps to know that traveling abroad is not the only criterion leading to the DS-5535. So now I wonder if we're just randomly selected in order for US consular posts all over the world to reach that 0.5% of visa applicants before November 31st when that form expires.
PS. I've been reading the forums and lots of people have reported that the K3 visa is actually obsolete, dating back to when the CR1 process used to take years.
Thanks for the info (: that's interesting because 16 months after our first step towards immigration she was interviewed. it seems like it's form DS 5535/this extra vetting process which has delayed us. what do you mean by obsolete and dating back to when the CR1 process used to take years? If you could point me towards some specific threads to learn more that would be great. Thanks!

Hello all,
(I meant to say K-3 visa in my profile but accidentally put K-1, does not seem to be a way to correct error)
I am an American born citizen, my wife is Moroccan. On June 19th, 2017 my wife had a K-3 visa interview in Casa Blanca and they gave her form DS 5535 immediately after the interview, in person, along with an email address for her to email the completed form to. She filled it out and sent it 3 days later. We haven't heard anything from them, and, like the rest of you we are wondering how long this extra step in screening is going to take. If you have any information regarding the time frame please do let me know. It is much appreciated.
P.S. Stay optimistic. I hope you will be with your loved ones soon.
Warm Regards,
Fadi

Hello,
oops, I meant to say K3 (fixing that). She's my wife. Thanks for pointing that out
I have no idea why they would give her that form... she has never traveled outside of her country. I feel like the whole thing is very much arbitrary based on their giving it to my wife.
The form was 3 pages long.
Well, it is practically brand new (as of late May, 2017) so we will have to just wait and see. I'm hoping this year! We're doing our best to be patient and hope for the best.

Form DS-5535 'SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS FOR VISA APPLICANTS'
in US Embassy and Consulate Discussion
Posted
Hello everyone,
I have some great news, Alhamdulillah! After having our Visa Interview for a permanent resident, spouse vIsa (not fiance) in Casa Blanca on June 19th, 2017 and being placed in Administrative Processing with form DS 5535, my wife was issued her Visa on January 29th, 2018. She now has her sealed envelope in her hand and can enter the country anytime between now and June 22nd, 2018.
I visited her in Fes in early January and let the Consulate know that I was in the country through email. They then called her and asked if I was indeed in the country with her, then they said they were sending her passport back to her so she may redo the medical exam and that the case was going to be complete in a couple weeks. I am not sure of this timing was a coincidence or if me visiting her was connected to the progression of the case, I am just grateful for the visa being issued.
I would like to say that this was very heavy upon my mental health and my heart, but we remained patient and resilient, we relied upon God first and foremost, we remained optimistic and hopeful that we would be together. I know this is so stressful and difficult for you, but very soon you will look back upon this experience and smile knowing that you can be with your loved ones. Keep praying everyday. I hope your visas will be issued soon, God willing.
Warmly,
Fedi
