Have you tried using EMMA (chat).  Sometimes that is  more effective than calling.

If  person on the other end of the chat acknowledges your request then you have a basis for appealing any denial of your N-400 case. Screens shithtye chat session and/or record it (an Apple Mac’s screenshot utility lets you record a video of your screen).

The other benefit of chat over the  phone  is that there are laws regulating recording your own phone calls but for chats not so much.

Since you will still be around on the day of the oath, you could try attending the oath and explain the situation.  You would not surrender your  gc or take oath.

    OTOH,

    1.  Granted this is a long shot, if folks from the passport agency are there and willing to do an expedited passports, you might be tempted to concentrate the oath,   Or

    2. Reportedly is is easy for a Filipino to get a visa for Mexico. So complete  the oath and don’t apply for a passport. Instead travel to Mexico and walk into the USA using your naturalization certificate.  A variation of this is to apply for your passport and use a photo copy of your naturalization certificate to walk into the USA.

Even if 1 fails, 2 is viable.

Hello! Your advice to chat with Emma was super helpful! It was fast, I got to chat with an agent and I was assured that I can go on my trip and I will be rescheduled. He mentioned that it may take a while to get a new date depending on how busy the local office is but he said there is record of my phone call to USCIS last week and our chat today so I should be good.

    THANK YOU!🙏🏼

  2. I am but I already submitted the request to reschedule including the original letter they sent that I was supposed to bring.

I wanted to reschedule because I am traveling soon and if I apply for a passport after the ceremony, it won’t make it in time for my flight. I don’t want to risk to expedite the passport because that’s not a guarantee. My grandmother is really sick and I want to come see here.

  3. I was scheduled to do my oath ceremony on January 5, 2023.

On December 18, I sent mail to our local field office requesting to reschedule my oath ceremony due to travel. I included the original copy of the form, my request letter and a copy of my flight ticket/information.

I still haven’t heard back from USCIS and I have not been rescheduled. I am so worried and I tried calling and I was told on December 29 that a tier 2 would call me.

The oath ceremony is this Thursday. What should I do? Help!

You said this in "interview waiver" renewal, correct?  We just did this for my wife.

There is not an "Interview Waiver" letter.  When you finish the online registration, you will get a Confirmation with Confirmation number.  This is the same for a new or renewal.

The difference for "Interview Waiver" renewal is that you follow the instructions and send the packet to the Embassy, including the requested items.  You don't schedule an appointment unless the deny the interview waiver and request an interview.

    https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-niv-visarenew.asp

My opinion is that she is fine to travel in Jan/Feb then when she returns, finish the renewal process.

    Thank you so much!🙏🏼

  5. I have 2 questions for my mom's tourist visa. Thank you in advance to those who can help.

    1. Her tourist visa expires September 2022, can she still travel to the US from January 2022 to February 2022?

    2. We started the visa renewal process. We paid the fee, finished the DS-160, but we didn't see the Interview Waiver Letter and we have not sent anything else to the embassy. We have not set an appointment yet. If she travels to the US next month (Jan 2022), would there be an issue if we already started the visa renewal process?

I believe someone got stuck because of this recently. Looks like they got their visa on hand :)

@S_Flores do you have any insight?

Hi. Sorry. I wasn't able to check visajourney in a while. After my interview, we were placed in administrative processing. The best option was for him to rush his taxes. After submitting his taxes, they made us wait for almost a month before I finally got my visa. I think its best to just give them what they ask for.

  7. Hello guys. I don't know what to feel right now.

I had my interview last May 8 and it went fine. Just the usual questions, they asked me about how we met, his age and his birthday and if we've traveled together. It was very quick.

Then my case went to "Administrative Processing". So I asked them if they need anything from me, this was their response:

    "Dear Madam:

At this time nothing is needed from you.

We will contact you if we need anything in your case.

    Thank you."

It's been a week since my interview, and still no update. So I e-mailed them again asking if there's a problem with our case and what "Administrative Processing" means. This was their response:

    "Dear Madam:

It is just under administrative processing , no other details.

Once your case is finished we will contact you.

    Thank you."

I check the CEAC website everyday and the last time they updated my case was May 9. Sigh. All this waiting is making me overthink. I'm seriously worried. :(

I can't say as far as the extension if that will work or not, I would think it would if they asked for it, but I can say don't let Administrative Processing get you down. My fiancees case was put from ready to AP the day after her interview and the next day it changed to issued. Everyone goes into AP, processing the visa and paperwork is as much AP as being put on hold for more info is. Fingers crossed for you!!

Thank you very much. Still waiting for it to change to "Issued". It's been more than a week and when I e-mailed the embassy, they just said that they will contact me once my case is finished. Sigh. This whole process is teaching me to be patient. :) I hope I get my visa soon.

    Congrats btw. :)

  9. Has anyone experienced this?

    Back story:

I am the beneficiary, I went to my interview and everything was going well. Then, they asked for his 2017 Income Tax Return and I said that he has not finished his taxes and he was granted an extension until October 2018.

They said ok and that I should come back and bring back a copy of that extension. They gave me the white slip. They said that everything seems ok and I should just give them an update of his 2017 taxes then they'll figure out the next step from there.

So, the same day, I dropped off the copy of the approval of extension. They also asked for my passport. (Which now I know doesn't really mean that I've been approved. But yes, I'm still hoping it's a good sign.)

I checked our case status and now it says "Administrative Processing". Sigh. I have also given  a copy of my fiance's income (Earnings for February and March) and VA Disability Benefit before my interview.

Anyway, help guys! Will the copy of the approval of extension to file his taxes be enough? Has anyone experienced this?

don't you worry . i doubt it's a problem . just bring the documents that they asked from you . 💜

Thank you. This whole process is driving me crazy. If this AP means a longer wait for us, that would be heartbreaking. I gave them what they asked right away. I went home, printed the document and went back. They asked for my passport as well. Maybe that's a good sign? I really hope so.

What is ur current status on case tracker?
U might be in AP- Administrative processing- i.e. you don't get approved until you send in what they ask for.
It's May- tax deadline for most was April. So it is expected that if you don't have the most recent tax returns going to interviews at this time, you bring the explanation of why.

Send them what they ask for and hopefully, your approval follows soon. Goodluck!

Yes, it's now saying "Administrative Processing".

My fiance said he still doesn't have enough information to do his taxes that's why he requested for an extension. This is what he sent me...

  12. Hello everyone. I just came from my interview. What they asked prior to my interview was his 2016 Income Tax Return only. So that was what we provided.

During my interview, they asked for his 2017 ITR. But I told them that he was granted an extension til October 2018.

They asked me to bring  a copy of that extension and my passport this afternoon. :( Is this going to be a problem?

They will look at your family's total income from all sources and compare to the poverty level guidelines. They will also look at his 2016 tax information at lie 22 and use that number in their evaluation. BTW the Embassy uses the I-134 for the evaluation if your ability to earn and not become a ward of the state.

    Ok, thank you.

  15. Hello everyone. I am scheduled to have my interview on May 8 and I am very nervous.

Now that I'm waiting again, I am back to my usual overthinking self.

I've been reading about Poverty Guidelines. Since they already approved our petition, and we're just waiting for our interview, it won't be an issue anymore right?

My fiance is a veteran and he is getting monthly VA disability compensation. We included this on the I-864 Affidavit Of Support.

He is currently a student. He went back to school to finish his degree.

So aside from his disability compensation, he works as an Uber Eats driver. The salary that one gets from this part time job varies. It actually depends on how much deliveries he makes in a day.

    Will this be a problem?

To determine if you will have no issues for the financial part which is to say do you meet the financial standards here is the link to the poverty guidelines.

    https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

The rule of thumb is if you have submitted your taxes and they have been excepted by the IRS then use the latest submission. To determine this see if you can get a 2017 ITR from the IRS for the interview.  If you have not filed then use 2016. All will be fine.

You need to relax. You're going to get through this. Just read what is required, gather what is required and bring to the interview what is required. It's that simple. The interview will last all but 5 minutes. You're getting yourself all worked up.

LOL. That is exactly what my fiance told me. Thank you very much. I really need to calm down. Sorry, my anxiety sometimes gets the best of me

  17. Hello everyone.

I know that the process is different for every country, and it was hard for me to proceed after getting my Case Number.
Since I didn't receive any mail or email from the Embassy here in Qatar, I sent an email to the US Embassy here.

I am so happy when they replied. They finally assured me that my case is with them and that I should submit the requirements written in the mail they sent me. So I told them I haven't received anything. The person replied back giving me a list of documents I needed to prepare.

So yesterday I got my medical examination and now I'm just waiting for my results. Then I can finally go to the embassy for my interview.

I have a question though. I've been reading about Income Tax Returns and Poverty Guidelines.

Since they already approved our petition, it won't be an issue anymore right? Or will they look into it during the interview? How do I know if we're good or not? In his Income Tax Return? Which part?

Each embassy can be different. I think you will have to keep searching for the Embassy Letter so that you can keep moving forward. At this time I don't think I can be of much help.

I did find this. You can look through it and glean what you can. PM somebody in the thread there and ask for help.

Thank you very much. I really wish this will be over soon. LOL. I started writing a blog for the process here in Qatar. Coz there are a lot of posts in the Philippines and in other countries, but I haven't found one for Qatar. Who knows, maybe in the future people can use my experience to guide them through the K1 process. :) Anyway, thanks again.

Here's what I found for Qatar

Appointments are necessary for immigrant visa interviews, but the petitioner is not required to attend.
Applicants whose applications were processed by NVC should bring their valid passports, the medical examination report provided by the Embassy’s panel physician, as well as any other documentation not already provided to NVC, to their visa interviews. Applicants whose applications were processed at the Embassy should carefully review the instructions they have received from the Embassy to ensure they have assembled all the necessary documents.  During the interview process, ink-free, digital fingerprint scans will be taken. Each applicant must appear in person for his/her interview. At that time all documents will be evaluated by a consular officer and a decision will be made.

    https://qa.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

You should change your profile from Philippines to Qatar. Your current profile suggest you are interviewing at the Embassy in Manila and not Qatar.

Also see if anyone in the Sub forum for the middle east can help you. To get there go to the top of this page and select forums. Travel about halfway down and you'll see subforms and select the Middle East.

Thank you, I changed it now :)

What I don't know is if I should wait for the Packet to arrive with the instructions before I pay for the VISA and before I set my interview. Sigh. No one is answering the phone in the US Embassy here. I did the DS-160 already. Now I'm just confused what to do next.
