As far as I know, it will depend in background checks and how long they take. It's not guaranteed to be the same timeframe for everyone so there isn't much you can do except wait. Also depends on the wait time at your local office (if different to your sisters). Sorry :(

same office. we live in same neighborhood..  why would background check take longer?  does it depend on the country they are from?

    thanks for your help!

  2. Hey guys,

i havent been on here for MONTHS, im a July I-485 filer, no time to read three as I’m working full time , have a toddler, and I’m pregnant with twins.

I need some peace of mind . I received my update August 13th that our interview is ready to be scheduled and they’d send a letter..... I’m still waiting 3 months later. My sister got hers 2 weeks after her update.... ( she filed I-485 May 2018)

    am I missing something here?

Obv USCIS customer service reps don’t know anything, my husband doesn’t speak fluent English, they won’t talk to me, they just tell him that the update says they WILL send the interview notice and it’s not time specific and our case is still within normal processing time. Our twins our due January - February and I’m kinda stressing out from everything .

Is is there anything we can do ?

    please and thank you 🙏🏼

Ps: We did just get work permit for him end of October.

  3. POE 5/10 !!!!!!!!

for all Brazilians --- Maxmilha.com.br for CHEAP FLIGHTS --- frequent flyers selling bilhetes for desconta muita!

Jorge found a flight from Rio- Atlanta - Harrisburg PA - very small airport- ( which is rare to find one stop to begin with) for  $1060 Reias -   do the math - this price is literally a milagre.. completamente...

also --- my sister's fiancé just had POE 2 weeks ago and said the first question they ask at POE is what address you are going to.. if you cant answer, you cant enter...  just an FYI

    love you all

    Lisa,

Try to call and get a status update - it must move off "Received"

Next step in the process is the receive an email that the VISA is ready for you to schedule a pick-up and to re-enter the Registration site

to schedule a day and time.

Its possible the email could happen before an online update of status.

Call - ask whats happening as 2 weeks have gone by.

They kept his passport - they have to act.

    Let us know...good luck.

    Ana Maria,

I got an email back saying its processing....

and it updated just now on CEAC to "administrative processing"

I feel like this is so basic and vague... can I assume we are approved and that's WHY the visa is processing?

I already emailed the embassy back asking what date we were approved and when we can expect to pick up the Visa.......

am I good ?  lol I'm going nuts

  5. For those of you following my strange interview situation , and anyone else that may have info on the CEAC status check .... our interview was 3/27.... (result: need more evidence [which was returned in person same day] )  ..... the CEAC website says 4/2 case was received.... and last update was 4/6 (last Friday) but the status is the same.... can anyone decipher any of this?   I am contacting the embassy tomorrow for follow up since it will be 2 weeks since Jorge's interview....

thanks yall <3 always, much love,

    Lisa,

Me and my fiancé were there that day and I think we overheard his interview 😰 We were wondering what ended up happening because he started his interview before us and after we finished he was still there. He was asked a lot of questions and I think it’s the same interview because I remember hearing the question: where is the sons father?

I’m sorry that all of this happening. I don’t know how true this is but I heard you Can have 2 more interviews to bring more documents. If that’s the case, it might be worth it (and if you have a way) to go to Rio and be in the interview. I don’t know if it was just my impression but the ones whose fiancés were there seemed to have shorter interviews and seemed like they were always approved.

Hope everything works out for you guys!!

    Desi

    Desi,

you are right - it was definitely Jorge.  I kept asking Jorge if they said anything about scheduling another interview but he said no....

and if they do I am ABSOLUTELY going to be there ... but I'm believing they wont... that  they will just accept all the info he gave them and process his visa. keep us in prayer  :-)

just wait - give them 2-weeks from the interview date....

They have the additional proof - let them process it.

Your CO does not need anymore more encouragement - not yet.

relax - you know how things move in Brasil....rs

yes you are so right.  we were just really thrown off from the interview experience.

your words definitely have given Jorge and I some relief .

I will keep you all update and thank you for all of you who responded with encouragement <3

Lisa I'm so sorry to hear this! It breaks my heart. I don't know why they would make it so difficult.

I think that they have the passport is a good sign. Did you check the CEAC site for an update?

I haven't heard of this before, but I'm praying for a speedy and positive outcome for you guys! Stay positive. You didn't get this far to be discouraged now. You guys can do it!

thank you SO MUCH for those words of encouragement. the CEAC site says application received... and I'm afraid ill piss people off if I contact them again to ask what the status is... I really don't know what to do.   should I wait until Thursday to email them again since it will be a week since my last email ?

  9. sorry guys I have been a little MIA lately.  with preparing and our focus being on Jorge's interview last week, and some other things outside of this process, I haven't had much time to catch up.. I urge you all to read this post because it through us for a whirl when Jorge went to his interview last Tuesday ( a week ago today)

We have read countless reviews of the simple 3 question-your approved interviews at Rio's embassy.  We have read many testimonials of a previous tourist visa denial not affecting a K1 visa approval in the slightest.  And yet Jorge and I somehow got the short end of the stick.  I don't know if the interviewer was just not having a good day, or if something about Jorge didn't rub this guy right, but after waiting 3 hours to be interviewed, Jorge was asked 20 minutes worth of questions that the guy would seem to try his hardest to catch Jorge in a lie asking him questions that didn't even make sense with our relationship and what the evidence showed. He asked him questions that seemed a little abnormal (he asked Jorge about  my son's father who I have never been married to or lived with, etc...)

Jorge felt interrogated and almost violated with the way this guy was treating him. it was insulting.  He didn't even ask Jorge what language he prefers to do the interview in and Jorge does not speak fluent English yet.. .and the interviewer went from one language to the other just randomly.... obviously from all that was happening Jorge became a little nervous. He feared the worst, and didn't have the slightest clue why this was happening to him as he heard other couples receiving the type of interviews and outcomes we have read so much about...

Finally the guy told him he needed more proof of our relationship, so bless his heart, he ran around gathering 300 pages of printed photos and texts (WhatsApp conversations) to return to the embassy THAT AFTERNOON.  He could not re-enter but they seemed to be expecting his return same day.  They told him they would review and contact him.

Still devastated, it has been a week since then and we have no idea how long we have to wait or what exactly we are waiting for.  We had planned the date of his departure and everything and now we are stuck in limbo again very confused, very emotionally drained.  I emailed the embassy last Thursday I think and asked them if there is any way I can help them with more evidence and they plain and simply told me my case was being reviewed and to wait.

    that's it.

has anyone ever heard of this ?  what can I expect ?  how can I start planning accordingly now ?  they did keep Jorge's passport...   I am hoping that is a good sign.  but no one wants to tell us time-frame ... I am wondering when I should email them again. They had a holiday Friday.... can  anyone offer me some advice or support?  we are both having a difficult time with this.

    God bless,

I've been in Brasil for a week and we leave for Rio in the morning by bus.

Exams begin on Thursday and  medical on Friday.  Interview is Tuesday.

It hasn't stopped raining in Brasil and won't for the next 7 days.  Rio will be hot, humid and wet.

Be aware of what is going on in Rio now with the military securing the favelas.

How you travel within Rio should be a concern....especially at night.

Be safe and good luck to all of us.

do you need to take a ton of passport photos to the doctor's appointment?  we haven't gotten our email yet with info... what all does the doctor require

yes theres quite a lot going on in Rio right now.  may the Lord's protection be with everyone in the city.

I think we are ok too, if they require an amount and we are over the amount so it should be fine. But just checking, in case anyone went with just that and they have them a hard time. We don't really wanna ask his parents, so... But let us know how was the interview in the embassy, in everything i read Rio is a very easy embassy, with very low history of denials and the interview is very quick. We'll all be fine 😊

when are you guys scheduled for the interview ?  Jorge booked 3/27 at 8:30 am I think

I need a help with the I134 form, see if anyone have a similar situation or knows a lil bit more than us. My fiance's income is over 3 times the poverty line but he has no assets, real estate or significant savings. Can we rely only on his income or should we try a co-sponsor?

    you should be fine

my income is also higher than the requirement BUT I have temporary position with a health ins company and I don't know when it will end. so I used my father's income as back up with his approval of course lol.   but I think youre fine :-) it never hurts to be safe though!  depends if you have someone willing to sponsor as backup too :-)

    RDJ 2018 XXXXXX

    (i will paraphrase)

Follow these instructions.  You will not receive any additional letters by mail.

Consulate has received your petition for K-Visa, congratulations you are one step closer to your visa interview.

Special attention to the following 3 documents - they can often delay visa applications if not submitted correctly.

    1. Recent Police Certificate - Federal Police

    2. Recent Police Certificate from the "Secretaria de Seguranca Publica"

        https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/where-to-apply/

    3. Where applicable;  Notice of Approval for I-601A waiver and proof of your departure from the United States (only for applicants with prior unlawful presence in the United States.)

    Scheduling Process:

    1.  Fill out DS-160; one for each applicant.

    2.  Register at the scheduling site.  You will need the CASE NUMBER (RDJ 2018XXXXXX)

Make sure you are in the "IMMIGRANT VISA"  section (green) of the website.

Options: choose the correct condition "I HAVE A LETTER FROM THE CONSULAR SECTION WITH      INSTRUCTIONS TO REGISTER OR SCHEDULE A K-VISA APPOINTMENT."

    3.  Choose your preferred delivery option for receiving the visa if your application is approved.

    4.  Pay the required fee.  One fee for each applicant.

    5.  Schedule an appointment for your interview.  Print out the appointment confirmation page.  You will need to send this to the doctor to prove your Interview date and schedule the exam.

    6.  Print your confirmation page and bring it to the consulate on the day of your interview.

All applicants must follow these steps.

    I will add:

Follow instructions on the Consulate website contact the doctor in Rio.  The doctor will only respond to email.  Doctor will return email with 4 documents attached.  Read the instructions and complete form 4 with your requested exam date. Pick a day 4 days prior to embassy interview.

All tests (blood, urine and xray) can be done in one day or 2.

Plan your time in Rio, allow for 6 nights stay.  Decent hotels are approx. $450-500 USD for the 6 nights, including breakfast.

The doctor + exams and Consulate are about 40 min. apart by car....

Good luck,  see you in Rio.

ps...i don't know if everyone will receive or if I received because I emailed the embassy when I couldn't schedule....

you are amazing --- how many passport photos does Jorge need to take to the doctor's appt?   I read somewhere that he needs 10 little passaporte fotos ? and all his documents that I am sending him???  ou nao ?
