Hi, guys so I will call them on Monday to see what is going on...
Basically, they asked me to send evidence of my name change so some sort of ID, wedding certificate, etc.
What I think is weird is because I sent a copy of my wedding certificate with my application and on the forms when they asked for other names used I stated my maiden name. I have a SSN with my married name on it and I tried getting a state ID today but they wouldn't let me because my I-94 is already expired.

Hello everyone!
I came here on a fiance visa and got married in August.Today I got an RFE asking for more proof of my name, they state that on my forms I used the name Marina G (married name) but that on their records it says that I am
Marina L (maiden name). I have sent my wedding certificate together with my application and in all the forms when asked for other names used I wrote my maiden name.
I am really confused because so far all the information I saw was that people that have had their names changed used their married names on the Adjustment of Status, EAD and AP forms!
Have anyone seen anything like this? I can't find our mistake!

Hi guys, I am pretty sad... Just got a RFE on the mail today. I thought it was my EAD and AP card but no..
What I don't understand is that they are saying that the name I provided on the form doesn't match other USCIS records because on the forms I used my married name, Marina Giallonardo, but the records say my name is Marina Louzada (my maiden name)
I sent the package my wedding certificate, apparently, that was not enough to prove the name change?! I am so confused!

Hello everyone! So I haven't received my EAD permit yet but the wife of one of my husband's co-workers (that also filled in October) just got hers this week!
We are getting there!

Those that have a SSN. Did you all notice your SSN on the screen when fingerprinting?
How long is the wait to get an EAD after Biometrics? Average time?
Hey visitor, according to the visa journey database it takes an average of 68 days after biometrics to get your EAD
I do have a social security number but I didn't really look at the screen when they where taking my fingerprint. I did notice that none of the notice of action letters and my biometrics appointment letter had my SSN on it, just my alien number. Why do you ask though?

Hi everyone, I had my biometrics appointment today. It was pretty smooth I was out of there less than 15 minutes after arriving.
The only thing I would like to add is that my married name is different than my maiden name and I brought my passport as a picture ID with my maiden name in it, so the officer asked for my wedding certificate to check my name change. I did not bring my wedding certificate because I didn't think it was necessary, it was not really a problem because he went on the back and looked through my files to see the copy of the wedding certificate I sent with my AOS. But to be honest I would have liked to know that they might ask for it just so it didn't look like I was unprepared.

Did you get my message?

@janicecf Hi there! Don't fret too much over this...it usually take a while but I'm quite close to both the NVC and my center. This might be merely a post officer thing

Hi everyone! Just passing by to say that I just got my biometrics appointment letter in the mail.
Anyone on the same boat?

Other than the text messages is there another way to track progress like we did with was receipt number at the i129 stage?
Hey there!
When you receive the text messages they will come with a tracking number that you can use on the My USCIS website to check for any updates.
Unfortunately, they don't update it very often so it is a long wait!

Marina Have they cashed your check as yet? Mines was received on the 6th, haven't heard anything yet
Hi, @HisForeverWife I sent a money order with my package so I don't know if they have processed it yet. However, when I go to the My USCIS and check the status on my I-148 it says "On October 16, 2017, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485 " which tells me that at they have cashed at least that part of the money...or not idk haha

Hey Clara! Good to see another Brazilian here too! My files were sent to the NBC too! For what I have seen in this thread a lot of people had their cases sent there since most of the receipt numbers start with MSC
is that normal?

Hi everyone, just got my NOAS yesterday night!
Very much like trilobyte I sent my package on Friday the 6th, they received it on the 10th and I got the NOAs by message on the 17th.

@brad walker Hi there! I know there is plenty going on in the thread already but I wanted to give my personal input.
After doing a year abroad in the US I visited my then boyfriend for one month in 2015, 5 months in the beginning of 2016 and 5 months again from October 2016 until March 2017 with my tourist visa.
When I applied for the tourist visa back in 2015 the only thing I brought with me was proof that I was enrolled in a masters degree program at a Brazilian university. I also brought this document with me in all the trips I made to visit him. I never had any problem.
Regardless of my experience though, I think it will never hurt you to have all these documents prepared at the time of the interview. But they are supporting documents and your girlfriend should hand them in only if asked so.Any questions you two might have just feel free to message me! I am almost done with the K1 visa and know all the little details of the Brazilan process!
All the best

Hello, all!
Yesterday I had an interview with the consular representative at the immigration office in Rio for my K1 visa.My visa was approved, however, during our conversation we quickly did some calculations to know whereas my 2 year home residency requirement was already fulfilled because I had multiple trips overseas since I came back from my year abroad at Michigan State. At the time of the interview, the interviewer told me that I still had 17 days to go before my 2 years home residency requirement was fulfilled. The consular representative said that it wouldn't be a problem, he would hold onto my documents until this 17 days had passed and would issue the K1 visa on the 8th of August. However, coming back home I tried doing the calculations again and kept coming up with a different number.Looking back at all my travel records with a clear mind and more calm I noticed that in fact, I am 31 days past the 2-year requirement.
I gather all the documents proving my point: I94 forms, travel history and plane tickets and sent an e-mail to the visa office. They ask for 3 business days to give me a reply. While I wait I tried calling someoneat the American Embassy in Rio and could not find one single phone number that could help me. The numbers available online all send me through an endless loop of automated messages and the one human assistant I managed to talk to wasn't very happy to talk to me, to say the least. I know working at call centers is very frustrating and they might get a ton of people bugging them about stuff, but hey! I am trying to fix a mistake made by your people!
This is more of a rant than anything, but if you had a similar experience or have a suggestion of what I can do while I wait for their 3 business day response, feel free to add to the thread. If all this goes as a warning to all the late J1 visa fellows out there. -
Hello, everyone!
My I-129F was approved on the 12th of June and my fiancé received the 1-797 form in the mail. However, when we check the case status on the myUSCIS website it
still says "my case was received". Has this happened to any of you?
