Has anyone used a lawyer in Chicago? We got a NOID due to not having enough evidence of my husband's identity. We need help and they only gave us 30 days. Most lawyers we have reached out to cant even see us till next week and that takes a lot of the small time we have left.

We had our aos interview today. They asked my husband a lot of questions about his medical records from home from when he was born, not his birth certificate, they asked for his high school diploma and we didnt have these documents nor did I see it listed as being needed. He had his college diploma but they didnt want it. The whole interview the guy signed and shook his head. At the end they said they would review it. If they ask us for a midwife certificate from his birth, that's not something we could possibly get. He also said these forms needed to he verified by the US embassy in his home country, which he cant attain since he cant leave. Has anyone had this experience?

This has me kind of worried as we don't have any evidence like this since my husband still doesn't have an SSN. EAD has still not come through (and the processing dates just jumped from late Oct BACKWARDS to Sept 18!!!) Because of that we have been unable to get a joint bank account, all bills are in my name and he bought the house with inheritance and it is only in his name. I think the only thing we have with both our names is the insurance bill. The only other evidence I am thinking might be useful is that we attended a marriage course for which we will get a certificate and we have friends that will vouch for our relationship. Online it says they have scheduled an interview for us but will have to wait to receive to letter to know when it is.
You might want to check around at different banks. We are in the same boat for some things, but my bank let us create a joint account even without a SSN. I bank with PNC. It gave us at least one thing. and We filled taxes jointly with an ITIN.

Ready to be scheduled just means it is now waiting in line at your local field office. Processing times will be dependent on that LFO and could take a few months to a few years.
The status message that is important is "Interview has been scheduled". Until then you wont really know.
Until the service enquiry date on the USCIS processing times website for your LFO has passed, making a service enquiry will be fruitless as you are still within normal processing times.
Thank you! That makes sense and I'm glad we arent missing anything.

Does anyone know about how long it should take to send the notice of appointment date once it says online that it's ready to be scheduled? As of March 19th ours has been ready, but we haven't received any mail. I tried to call, but there are no options to speak with someone about it (that I heard). I sent an email to ask about it, but it said they would reply by April 24th. I just don't want to miss this appointment.

You have to wait now for EAD. The window to get SSN as a K1 has closed.
Insurance can't boot you.
Taxes will require a SSN or get an Itin for filing.
Thank you! That's good to know.

Try another office or ask for the supervisor. You have to have 14 days left on your i94, but as long as you do they are supposed to issue them.
We applied October 12th and didn't get an answer until last Friday. My husbands i-94 expired the 8th of December. Does this mean we have to wait? We currently have my health insurance breathing down our necks for one and I'm afraid they will kick him off my health insurance if we don't have one before tax time.

As long as it was done overseas within a year of you filing AOS your medical is still valid. You don't need another one. It was included in the envelope you gave to immigration at the airport.

We are about to file for our adjustment of status and have hit a road block. When gathering our documents, we found that we do not have a copy of his Turkish police report in English. We tried using the document finder, but Turkey isn't listed. Has anyone ever run into this problem or had to write a letter explaining why they could not provide a document?

He had a medical exam done in Turkey in August and they gave him 2 vaccines. The AOS says if you had one within a year of filing you don't need one again. I called two civil surgeons today who said they won't just look at vaccines and they require a medical exam because other countries exams don't count.

Not necessary as long as they have satisfied the vaccination requirements and have filed for AOS within one year of the date of their foreign medical.
Thank you! That is what I was reading but i spoke with 2 doctors approved in my area and neither would just do vaccinations to make sure he had all of them without doing another exam.

On answer to one point... you age out of some vaccines and you simply don't require them. My husband had no history so he required everything. Many he simply didn't get as they were for children only. In those cases you don't get them even though on the comprehensive list they will show as required. He got three injections total.
Do you know which those were? My husband had two before he left Turkey and I would hate to pay for a physical again just to have 1 more vaccine.

Does anyone know if there has to be a second medical exam once your fiance comes to the states? I read that if they had one overseas within a year, they don't need another, but I was just told by a USCIS approved Dr. that they will have another and it will cost $650.

Once you are married on the k1 visa, how much time do you have to file the paperwork?
-
Is there anyone who knows what original documents need to be mailed to their fiance? I have many things that are just scanned and I was planning to just sent anything that had my actual signature on it such as AOS, letter from my employer ect. I also have those pages such as cover pages that I sign or intent to marry. Are these necessary to be original or are there any documents that don't require my signature that I should send originals of? I know every embassy is different, but the only two I have talked to that went through Turkey, were there in person and got to bring everything. I'm trying to avoid the 200+ shipping fee for all documents.
Also, we were approved to sign up for an interview July 9th and there have still been no openings. If anyone that went through Turkey has experienced this and has any tips or maybe we have not completed a step that was over looked, that would be great! I'm getting nervous because there is a holiday coming up August 17th - 27th and nothing can be done during that time. Really hoping we can get something before.

I can't help you on scheduling but I would like to ask if you would be kind enough to share (without personal information) the document requires for the interview. Turkey is one country I don't have that knowledge. Thanks.
sure, do you mean what they send in an email or just the required documents we need next?

We have been waiting all week to hear from the embassy in Turkey. I was checking the case status and it would just show an error. I finally emailed them to check and it turns out they sent the email on Monday, but typed my email address in wrong. So, just a tip for everyone, if you don't already bug the embassy don't be afraid to. We would have been waiting forever if I hadn't checked.
Also, Does anyone know how long it takes to schedule an appointment? It is showing there are no available appointments and I was told I just have to keep checking. Has anyone going through Turkey found a pattern to scheduling? Any advice?

Wow yours is quick, based on your timeline it says it was at NVC June 22 and left June 25th? Mine was also at June 22 but status still says AT NVC
It was faster than I thought, but the nvc says it has been sent and the Turkish embassy doesnt have it yet but it's been a week. makes me a little nervous.

When I checked on the status of my case with NVC, it shows the following, but what does it mean they provided an interview date? I haven't received any notification from them.
U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATIONIn Transit
Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center. -
This is my first time calling the NVC and I don't understand the menu options. I am wanting to check to see if a case number was assigned, but I didn't recognize that as an option.

We submitted all of this. They are wanting more evidence because they say his birth certificate isn't reliable since he got it after his 1st year of life. They want his baptism records and things that prove he is who he is.
