I filed mine on paper as well and have been in line for interview since 9/28. I guess on line filers in Los Angeles also could benefit from on line filing. It should be understandable for paper filers to feel frustrated. I just wish some on line filers(a minorty of them)here at least could be a bit understanding or sensitive about paper filers' situations, and not just take things for granted and be like "Oh well, it is what it is, nothing unfair about it". I am sure the majority of the online filers here are understanding and supportive, but at least the silver lining is maybe the LA office is moving at least. I'm going to echo the sentiment that most paper filers feel, I wish I had filed online. My friend who filed online on 09/16, ten days after me, has an interview scheduled on 12/12. We are both in Los Angeles filing under the 5-year residency. The only reason I can think of why his application was processed faster is because his GC year is 2011 while mine is 2012. I'm hoping that the USCIS gods will schedule me for an interview soon just like my friend but it looks like LA paper filers have been stuck in "in line" for at least 3 months before actually getting an interview date. Actually, some who have applied since February still don't have an interview scheduled. The only consolation I see from this is knowing that at least, LA field office processing is moving.

Hello all, 
 
I had my interview yesterday and my application approved. The USCI website was updated today showing that on Nov. 3 my application was approved and that my oath date has been scheduled. I was assigned to a much smaller field office, previous one was Los Angeles location for ROC, which could partly be why my case moved a lot faster than most and I filed on the 5-year residency. 
 
I checked-in 15-20 minutes before my appointment. I'm not sure what time my IO called me in because I turned my phone off but it had to be 5-10 minutes after my appointment time since a new TV program on CNN had just started. My IO was very nice and chatty which was a relief since I'm not a small talk type of person lol. My interview lasted about 50 minutes, but I think that was because she accidentally restarted her computer before she called me in so she had to set that up for a bit.
 
IO asked for my GC and ID so she can scan into the system then she asked about my last name change. Because her system was still not up fully she said if I had submitted documents showing my name change. I told her yes and that I actually had uploaded several documents more than once because the online system would't let me delete them. She finally had my application up and confirmed the times I had submitted each document lol. A little after she started testing me on reading first and then writing. Because I was a tad bit nervous I accidentally omitted the line in the letter "i", only putting the period on the word. She looked at it and asked if that was correct or if there was something missing. I quickly looked at it and corrected it. Yikes!!! We then moved to questions and I got all first 6 correct so she stopped there. She said that I had passed the difficult part of the testing, which left me wondering what else was there for her to test me on.
 
After a few minutes of small talk and other computer stuff she started to review my N-400. She briefly reviewed each part and had to fix certain portions of my application were instead of putting "To Present" on certain dates the online system automatically put the date I submitted my application, Sept. 12. After reviewing all the personal information portion she paused for a bit and started to ask me the Yes/No questions in Part 12 of the application, including questions 45-50. We finished and she had me sign on a decisive similar to an iPad to confirm my information was correct and that I approved the changes made. She looked at her computer screen and blurred out that there were no other issues, printed something and in a nonchalant manner said that she was recommending or approving my application, I can't remember, and that in the paper she was printing it would say "congratulations..." She then handed me my approval form and went over details about the oath ceremony date, which surprisingly will be in a couple of weeks. She told me she was to informed that days applicants who were approved that they would be taking their oath in LA on November 16th. She closed my file and placed it behind her and ended the interview. I had a question for her about some stuff which reminded her that she had to write something in my file lol. And that was that! 
 
On a side note, between our small talks she mentioned that yesterday she was doing July paper applications (she didn't specify if those were interviews or reviews) and today all seemed be online filers. That they, not sure if she meant her office or all field offices, were trying to balance paper and online filers. I blurred out "oh is that why my application moved a lot faster" but she didn't say yes or no or continue to provide more information. I didn't want to pry too much either because I just wanted to continue the interview and be done with it. 

Mine changed from "We Have Received your case" to the update below. No update change about biometrics.
 
 

Not yet! I'm currently a MS student and my memory seems to retain information better a week or even days prior to an exam. So I'll probably study one week before my interview. I've downloaded the official USCIS Civics Test app and found it to be helpful.

I think the biometrrics are done at Application Centers, not the actual field office. But yeah, that link is great tool to locate your field office.

It was good, I had 7.30 appt this morning. came in, had bags checked, went to infopass window, showed first officer appt letter and documents, he asked to fill out the form and wait for my ticket number to be called. Waited. Then 2nd officer asked what was the reason of my appt, I said i551, stamp of extension, and status update. He took picture of me with fingerprints to run background check for i551. Waited another 10 minutes, he called me in and handed passport with 6 months extension, I hope hos decision to only give me 6 months and not a tear was based on me getting this documents soon, fingers crossed! Anyhow, I asked him why after biometrics my status only changed to "We actively reviewing your case" and note that we received your biometrics and he simply said because it won't, until i751 is cleared. As simple as that! My hopes of being done sooner than later are crushed!

Hey Jaxey! The new site I was referring to can only be accessed online filers only. As a paper filer like yourself, I am only able to see updates using the EGOV site.

Yeah, that was macawesomeville that said they their walk in yesterday which was weird because their original biometrics is 10/02. I tried to clarify it but no response so I left their fingerprints appointment date as is. 
 
And yeah, no worries. It's great that everyone tries to make our list as up to date as possible. Great job!

Well, they just posted that they did their walk-in today, 10/17. The last update I made included Alema's NOA receipt date and Someday's walk-in date today, 10/17.

NOA: Receipt Notice Date Printed on your official I-797 notification.
Fprints:  Date assigned for fingerprinting (Bio-metrics). If you do your biometrics via walk-in prior to your scheduled appointment, please enter the date in bold blue.
In Line: Date you received e-notification about the start of your interview scheduling.
Int Ltr: Date you received the official letter in the mail regarding interview.
Interview: Date of your interview.
Oath: Date Oath taken.
Field Office: Your local USCIS office where you will have the N-400 interview
