It goes by your filing/priority date.

Judging by recent timelines, it is taking at least 2 months, if not more, to clear one month of applications. If your priority date is in June, it might be safer to assume that you will get your interview scheduled in 4 months time. Hopefully, things will go faster and you will get it sooner than that :)

I hope so, my green card expires may 8th. hopefully that won't be an issue if it does prior to me getting my interview!

Thank you! I filed on 03/11, officially it got registered on 03/16. I had my interview today. It didn't go well. Basically, I was told that I didn't meet 3 year of marital union requirement. I filed 90 days in advance and I didn't leave with my husband at the same address prior to immigrating to the USA due to the nature of his occupation at the time (Peace Corps Volunteer). The lady said they would send a letter, but there is a great chance it will get denied and I will have to re-file. She said she wished I waited and filed later. So today was not my day at all :(

So sorry to hear this :( at least there is glimmer of hope

when you re apply do you have to go through the whole thing all over again? application/payment/biometrics?

    Hi all,

I received my interview notice.  Notice was dated December 5th, and I received it this weekend.  My interview date is January 8th.  Hoping it doesn't get rescheduled as others have had this happen.

I'll update the March filers thread.

Thanks for the update, good luck on your interview! make sure to keep us posted afterwards on how it went

Going from @cupcake123 dates, it seems like they are doing early April applications. When my interview is scheduled, then we will know that they are doing late April applications.

On their website, it shows Chicago FO, as of September 30, is processing applications with Priority dates of up to January 26. It can be frustrating  that those processing times are not updated frequently, but we have this wonderful forum here that can inform us of what dates are being processed currently :)

It's a shame that they do not update their dates, it's been 3 months since it's been updated last :( oh yeah i guess when you do get scheduled we will know when it's end of April

    @ChicagoN400  Thanks!

    My timelines are as follows:

Mailed date: March 29th, 2017 (received date was March 30th).

    NOA Date:  April 7th, 2017

Finger prints: scheduled for April 25th but I went early and did them on April 17th, 2017

    In-line interview: April 27th, 2017

If going by NOA date, the Chicago FO seems to be scheduling April now.  I added my timeline to the March filers thread initially but probably should have been in the April filers, perhaps.   Hope this helps!

do you know if they are on beginning/mid/end of April? how do you know what month they are on? i'd love it if the processing times website was up to date :(

@cupcake123 – congratulations on getting your interview notification – I hope your process goes on smoothly and you get done with the process by the end of next month. Just to confirm, is your NOA/priority date April 7th? Just curious to know if USCIS Chicago field office have started scheduling for April priority dates :)

I am new to this forum and I glad to have found this helpful page! Below is my timeline for N400 Application.

    Mailed Date: April 17th 2017

    NOA Date: April 21st 2017

    Fingerprints: May 18th 2017

    In-line for Interview: June 21st 2017

seems like they are doing mid march mail applicants now, hopefully you should get scheduled soon!

I think online applications were permissible in mid April (two weeks after I filed my paper application), and I wasn't aware you could file online either:(.  Hopefully things will move quickly over next few months for you.

Thank you, let us know please as soon as you know what is your interview date (curious if you'll be in January or this year) my guess is January because of christmas and New year's

    Hi all,

My paper application was received March 30th and my priority date is April 7th (inline for interviews April 27th). I just received a  notification tonight that my interview has been scheduled.  Will keep this group posted on when it's scheduled.  May be a sign that chicago paper filers are starting to move?!?

we filed my application mid-end of June so it looks like I still have a bit of time to wait (also filed paper) and been "In line for interview" since July 31st. unfortunately at the time I was not aware that you can file online

I received the first notice with the date of 12/18 on 11/17 and then a week later around 11/25 I received the second one with 12/12 date. My situation is probably not all that typical. Usually applicants get their interview notices 4-5 weeks before the actual interview date.

USCIS observes the federal holidays they should be open on any other date. The only thing is that there are a lot of employees  that take off for the holidays so USCIS may schedule less interviews closer to Christmas and New Year or if they overschedule, applicants might receive good old interview cancellations "due to unforeseen circumstances" aka somebody took a couple of days off.

makes sense, my wife and i are planning a vacation for December 21st-Jan 1st thats why i am asking we would hate to get scheduled now and have to cancel our trip (or even worse cancel our trip and then have the interview get canceled)

so I'm guessing their facility is closed December 24th/25th December 31st(?) and January 1st

I got one more interview notice with a date 12/12. I have now two officially scheduled interviews one on 12/12 and another on 12/18. So I am going to the earliest one. USCIS stance: if you didn't receive a cancellation letter for any of your appointments you have to show up. I will go on 12/12 and ask them if they want to see me the second time. I doubt they do.

when did you receive the first notice? trying to figure out how soon after they mail your notice your actual interview is (seems like 3-4 weeks)

does anyone know what days they won't be conducting interviews in December for christmas/new years?

  11. Unfortunately I am in the Chicago office and apparently they are extremely behind...Filed End of June had FP 2-3 weeks later and been "in line for interview" ever since.

I'm not sure if all offices have such short hours but chicago has very short office hours....no wonder they are so slow

    Office Days/Hours:

    Monday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
    Tuesday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
    Wednesday 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
    Friday Closed
    Saturday Closed
    Sunday Closed

As mentioned previously, we filed my wife's application online in September, and her biometics was last month. Yesterday we received notice that her interview is scheduled, but the "Estimated case completion time" is still listed as Sept. 2018. It's hard to tell how up-to-date the website's processing times are.uscis.jpg.ca24bfe811c4af93f48c3e6848fb5f23.jpg

wow and you filed in September? that's crazy fast. I am starting to think that there is no "standard" wait times when it comes to this stuff with USCIS...

when you check your documents what date does it show for the interview?

We have seen a few March paper filers recently receive interviews (my brother-in-law included). Also a few July & Sept online filers have received interviews. So I think there are 2 separate timelines for paper and online filers.

My husband filed at the end of May and has been "in line" since July 3rd, as you will see with a lot of the filers in this thread.

Im not sure about the hours for the Chicago office, I've never checked.

Good to have you on on this thread!

    thanks :)
Yes, I noticed that online filers get their interviews faster than regular mail (not surprised to be honest) but yeah, hopefully I will have my interview January/February! your husband had to wait quite a while I see to go from filing to "in line"

  14. Hello everyone, I filed my N400 beginning of July (end of June possibly not 100% sure) Had my fingerprints done July 27th. On July 31st I checked my status saying that I am in line for an interview. Since then I have heard nothing. Since it shows that I am in line for interview I assume that my fingerprints were completed.

My co worker's neighbor filed in March and he has his interview December 8th I believe.

    couple of questions:

    1. does anyone know if the listed hours for the chicago office are correct?

    M-T 7:30am-3:30pm

    W 7:30am-12pm

    Th 7:30am-3:30pm

    F-S-SU - closed

    2. when checking current processing times for chicago I'm seeing January 25th but I see that some March filers are getting their interviews, does that mean their site isn't up to date? they updated it last on January 25th.

My wife and I are planning a trip december 22nd-January 2nd so we really hope I don't get scheduled during that time and have to cancel our trip lol but at the same time I really want this process over with :D
