I contacted my state's senator as you recommended. Hopefully, there is a change for all of us soon. My husband and I are also so frustrated

Hi everyone. I think a lot of us are just feeling down about this. As for me, I'm happy to be with my husband this summer but we have to be outside of the US.
Waiting after the 5535 since January.
Keep the faith everyone. Seems like people are waiting for a very long time but eventually they get it.
I still think we should have a spreadsheet to track how long it's taking.

We are approaching 8 months never updated on its own unless I ask about the case. It is indeed frustrating and painful that our spouses get treat so badly. We are American citizens, our senators are busy playing politics, but no help. The way DS 5535 is implemented should have been discussed in the congress, but no one seems to bother!

I hope this long waiting will end for everyone here. Separating families indefinitely without let them know when this will end is just not right, unfair and inhumane! I urge everyone here to let his or her senator knows about this unfair processing of our family visas. Please contact your two senators. Let the congress knows. We are American Citizens, law abiding, pay our taxes, and we should be treated fairly. CR1 visa is a legal right. We need to voice our concerns to our senators so that they may take action. Keeping quite will not solve our plight! Also email ACLU (https://www.aclu.org) at aclupreferences@aclu.org or call them at: 212-549-2500 to let them knows of our problem. Because currently the nation (our country USA) only knows about  DECA, and the boarder children issues. We need to voice our concerns to be heard and have this problem solved for us and the people after us.

    Dear all,
Please email this to your two senators. Please address them by their last names: Please edit as it fit.

    Dear Senator ………
I am writing to draw your attention to what thousands of US citizens especially from Muslims countries are going through trying to bring their loved ones legally to the country. After completing all requirements, and attending a consulate interviews, and after meeting all requirements; the administration has introduced a new requirement that asking selectively mainly Muslims to fill a form (DS5535). After filling and returning this form by visa applicants (sponsors of their spouses) are kept in dark for approximately 7-12 months without any response or letting them know when this waiting will end. This has resulted in pain and family separation for thousands of these families. I urge you to bring this to the attention of the senate. I request you to ask for a fair, transparent and impartial process. After all these are law abiding American citizens tax payers.
    Thank you

It's been 6 months since the interview. Me and spouse went to the Embassy to stamp L1s renewals and got the 5535 form. We visited Iran as part of a Central Asia trip so we assume it is because of that.
We have not been able to return to our home, had to finally vacate our apartment after paying rent in San Francisco for 5 months. Still working remotely for my company but very tough. Our things are still in the US and trying to move them back to Argentina where we live now.
Very unfair and cruel. We have both been remarkable citizens everywhere we visited, been to more than 80 countries, not just Iran (Persia),which is beautiful by the way.
Still hoping we can go back to the US, a country we love so much,

oh my - i'm surprised they told you 1 year upfront. I wish they would've done the same for me... my fiancee was told multiple times that her passport would be returned in 2 weeks so I booked her a one way ticket to the US (and myself a round trip ticket to pick her up), booked a rental car as well as hotel for my time there.... all of which were non-refundable. the airline tickets expired after 6 months

at this point, don't care for the lost money, care more for the lost time... just wish we had an accurate time frame that does not keep extending every 2 months

Yes, both my Senators and Representative. Useless. All they tell me is that she is in administrative process, they can't influence the process, and sorry for delay. blah blah blah.

    Hi all,

    Just a little background:

My fiancee's interview date was October 25th, 2017 in Casablanca Morocco for a K1 visa (we originally applied for the visa at the end of March in 2017). She was told she would receive her passport back in 2 weeks (the day of her interview), she was given the DS 5535 form which she returned the next day and she's been in Administrative Processing since then (8 months and 2 days have passed).

At 2 months into AP, we were told that it will take 4 months to complete (by the consulate over the phone). At 4 months, I called again while I was visiting her in Morocco and we were told it will take 6 months to process. At 6 months I called again and we were told it will be 6-9 months.

Now, 8 months later, I spoke to the consulate this morning and they said that they just issued a visa for a case that was pending in AP for 13 months. They were polite and said to email and call whenever; however, the case is still pending in DC, they have piles of cases and as soon as they hear from DC, they call the applicant right away. They said they have seen cases take 6 months but others are taking 13 months and some even 16-18 months from their interview date. She had said that currently many are still pending from over 1 year (so I believe those cases have priority over others; however, this is just my opinion).

Have others heard 13+ months or 16-18 months to process?

Getting ready to fly to Morocco again to see my fiancee. At least I've accrued enough miles at this point that when she does come, I can get her ticket for no extra cost  ...

Yeah, it's horrible. My fiancee had already started to transition to the US on her visitor visa because we were naive on how long this all takes. At the time I applied as petitioner it was only 4-5 months total wait time, hearing from other people from her country. It's been 16 months now since I applied for the i-129f/K1. And about 9 months on AP. To make the issue worse, my fiancee can't find a job since she's in the process of leaving and unknown how long she will be around.

I've been traveling back and forth last 9 months and racking up my miles. But damn, it gets expensive. I own my own business now so my time is even more limited for travel.

When I'm bored at my store, I day dream of selling my business, my house and assets and moving to my bride's country and start our new life there. The equity I have in my house would be enough to live well there. I'm originally Libyan (US Naturalized in 1992), and it's bad enough my family can't get visitor visas just to visit. But now it's been 16 months since I originally petitioned for my fiancee's K1 and still we wait with no answer.. So that's my life for now.

Hello all - My fiancé has been in AP for about 2 months on a K1 visa. We just received an email from the embassy 2 days ago:

"We are pleased to inform you that visa is approved.

To avoid any delays in final processing of your visa, you are required to promptly submit your passport along with two new photos (5×5 cm) through our courier service (UMAKS, 27 Amiryan Street, Yerevan), Monday through Friday, 09:00 to 18:00, excluding Armenian holidays..."

I believe they received her passport this morning but the status still says Administrative Processing on ceac.  Has this happened to anyone else?
