  1. Hi guys,
I have questions about filling up the form I-864 for my parents. Somebody who already filled it up could help me ?

    1- Part 3 - 1
I am the sponsor filling this up for my dad and my mom in separate forms. This correct if I mark on part 3, 1 ? See pic attached.

    2 - Part 3- 4a
Should I fill something as family member 1 ? Like my mom’s name on my dad’s petition and vice versa ? See pic 2 attached

    3 - Part 3 - 29
Should I fill it as 1 or 2? See pic 3 attached

    Thank you

Do you know if the parents GC is giving for 2 or 10 years ?

    Hi @K1visaHopeful

Thank you so much for your quick reply.

How did your parents enter the US? Do they have legal status?  They got here before the holidays on tourist visa and then decided to stay. They do have legal status until June 2019, but i am planning to apply Asap for them.

So applying for I-485 and paying the $ 1225 fee, then i can apply for I765 employment and I-131 travel without extra cost ?

In this case i will apply for both I-485, I-130, I-765, I-864, I-131 now. Sending a check amount $1760 for each. Can I pay it with credit card? Form number ?

And sending the I-693 in the day of interview.

Could you please if my thoughts are correct ?

  4. Hi guys,

I recently became an American Citizen and this group helped me a lot to conclude my case with USCIS. Now new journey is beginning since I decided apply for my parents GC.

I am applying for my mom and dad, both are already in US and i am think just apply the employment for my dad to avoid any extra cost.

Somebody who started this process recently could help me ?

    1) I would to check if these are ALL the forms needed : I-485, I-130, I-765, I-864

    2) I can give the form I-693 just in the interview date or i need to send it all together ?

    3) Do i need to pay the fee for I-131 even when i am paying all the others fees ? If i decided not apply for the I-131 now and I submit it during the process ?

    4) Can somebody help me calculate the amount of the check to send to USCIS ?

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Policies have changed. You need to be married until the oath ceremony, but not in a marital union. Meaning you may still be married on paper but not living together.

USCIS has posted a memorandum. The marital union is required only at the time of application. Check this link:

    https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/Updates/20181012-MaritalUnion.pdf

You’ll be able to be naturalized since divorce cases can take months to finalize so by the time you take the oath of allegence you’ll still be legally married.

Thank you so much for clarity. I don’t want be dramatic, but I was crying since the comment above. I really appreciate your help. Hopefully everything gets ok.

  6. Hello,

well .... it looks like a nightmare, but I need you guys advice...

My husband went to my N400 interview last month, even though he was not able to attend with me.

My N400 was approved and I’m in line for the Oath (They didn’t schedule it yet and I don’t know the date).

Unfortunately I discovered my husband is cheating on me and I left home after see his pictures with another woman. I think now he is getting ready to send me the divorce paper.

It has been so painful and sad ... now I am worried how it could affect the my naturalization. If he send me the divorce paper before the oath it could reflect in my naturalization?

    I appreciate any comments... thanks

    Hey!

Yeah, now you're in line for oath ceremony and the time frame varies. Just have to wait and that's it :)

Mine said something like "you showed up for your interview" then "case was approved" then "in line for oath ceremony" and then "oath ceremony notice was mailed" but all these 4 stages took 17h.

The ROC changed from something regarding the interview to "New Card Is Being Produced".

      We are almost there!!

Yep, almost there 🤞🏼 I will keep you updated when I receive the date.

Thank you and good luck 🍀

You mean, from "In Line For Oath Ceremony" to "Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed"?  If you are in line for oath ceremony they first need to schedule your ceremony and then they will send you a notice with date, place and time but only then. I did not get any document (online) regarding the "In Line For Oath Ceremony" only for the "Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed". It took them 17h to move me from "In line" to "Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed" but because I got the last update today, the letter hasn't showed up online yet.

I believe that the time frame depends on the local offices so it varies. It took me only 17h but I've heard of people waiting like 10-15 days or more, but like I said, it really depends.

    This is my last update:

before it says “your case was approved”

Congratulations and thank you for sharing.

I had similar situation but I wish my interviewer would help me more.

My I-751 is pending and I have been invited for N400 interview. When officer met me for an interview she said they wont be able to take my interview because my I751 is still pending. And I was back in waiting game.

Wow Are you serious ? What office ? I’m sorry to hear it. Hopefully your I751 will be approved soon.

I just got my 10 year GC in the mail today. But there is any new from my N400. The status is still “we scheduled your interview”. My interview was January 9.

My husband finally became a US citizen yesterday!  The ceremony was held in Pasadena and there were over 800 new US citizens there.  The Pasadena Convention Center is a really beautiful building!  On the oath letter it stated that we should be there by 7:45am, but we arrived just before 7am to avoid traffic.  Passing by the building, there was already a line forming outside (so much for being early!).  There were separate lines for the applicants and the guests.  It was a relatively small group compared to the approximately 5000 applicants that they usually have at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  We probably spent almost an hour in line (it was drizzling and we forgot our umbrella!) until we are finally seated inside with the rest of the guests and another hour of waiting for everybody else to get in.  The ceremony promptly started at 9am.  It was basically the same program as everyone else described.  The judge who presided the oath taking spoke of his own story coming from an immigrant family which I thought was extremely touching.  He said that of all the accomplishments that he had had, becoming a judge and such, presiding this oath taking ceremony is something that his grandparents would be particularly proud of! 😁

It was a short ceremony, finished by around 9:30am.  The guests were instructed to go outside first, as they cannot distribute the naturalization certificates until all the guests are out.  So I, together with my kids, waited outside the building.  It was dark and gloomy, definitely not a typical California day and by this time, the drizzling that was happening earlier that day became pouring rain.  We went to a neighboring building to keep from getting soaked.  Nevertheless, my husband finally came out (maybe around 10am), with his naturalization certificate in hand and we couldn't be happier!  We are glad that our kids witnessed the ceremony and saw the happiness and the pride of everyone there on becoming American citizens.

We also applied for his US passport later in the day at a post office close to our house.  I was not able to find out if we could apply for a passport at the venue.

For all the other families who are still waiting, my family and I wish you all the best!  Thank you for all the help you've given us.

Congratulations and thank you for all details. This is a beautiful and blessed successful experience. Time to celebrate.

I am hoping for positive movement in your case.  And soon! Sometimes I think the waiting is the hardest part!

@aprilfiler Your positivity is really strong. I just got my 10 years GC and the I-751 approval letter in the mail today. Thank you so much.

But any new from the N400. Hopefully they wake up and change the status soon. Lol

    thank you 🙏🏽

  12. Hi guys,

I had my N400 interview last Wednesday (Jan 9) in Los Angeles office with the pending I751. My husband’s wasn’t allowed to join me in the interview.

On January 11 they changed my I-751 status for “your card is being produced”. After that the status already changed twice to “your I751 was approved” and “we mailed your new card”, but my N400 hasn’t changed yet. The status is still “we schedule your interview”

somebody had the same experience? They really will mail my 10 year GC? Why the N400 status didn’t change ?

    Any comments is really appreciate.

    Thank you

You did! Thank you so much :) I hope you also hear an answer soon and get your interview! The process is extremely tiring but it will be worth it in the end. Please keep me updated on your interview date and good luck! Thanks again for being so helpful :)

    Hello @TMDM

I think now you are already a US Citizen and I am on that excited phase after N400 interview awating until they change the status on website. I’m so anxious and nervous.

My experience in the interview was really similar to yours. I passed on the tests but they gave me a paper saying the decision could be make because the pending I751.

Today (3 days after the interview) they updated my I751 to “new card is being produced” and I’m still awating for any moviment on my N400.

Question: when you received the RFE you just uploaded your more documents online ? How long it take to approve your N400 the receive the oath letter? I just need a refresh and be calm because this whole process is kidding me.

    Thank you
