I guess you have to wait until they solve the mess they did. Probably they will fix it before the 120 days. Did they let your spouse go inside the room with you for the N400 interview? Usually the spouse needs to wait in the waiting room.

She sat next to me during the interview and the attorney sat behind us. The officer did not ask her anything, it was a very quick interview. I signed couple of signatures in the Ipad and he was polite and explained about the name mismatch.

  2. Hi all,

On 09/19, I had the N400 interview  (3 year marriage) and I attended it with my wife and my attorney and passed the English/civics test but the officer said he couldn't approve because the system shows two identities and he has to reach out to the HQ to get it fixed. He said during biometrics they made a mistake with my name which created a second identity. My name is in the format "AAA BBB CCC DDD" , two first names and two last names. He said during biometrics they messed up by breaking the first name and adding the second part as a middle name. He said I should hear back end of September or early October.  My status still shows as "scheduled for interview".

My attorney said all we can do is wait and they have 120 days to make a decision. Anybody has similar experience or any thoughts, please share.  Thanks.

    Hi, guys.

Just wanted to share my experience for Infopass that I had today:

I went to Chicago main USCIS office for Infopass. The reason for my visit was that I wanted to restore a damaged letter from my accomplished biometrics for  I-751 and find out about my pending case meanwhile... I accomplished the biometrics last year and  later happened to have the letter in my bag , when it was raining , and it was badly soaked..

So I arrived to the office, checked-in and got the number. Electronic screen called my number and told me what window to approach. (Originally I thought it is all gonna be in a separate room, but it is just multiple windows and people are standing by the windows , pretty close to each other.)

So they refused to reprint my biometrics, stating, that the information is still readable, and they don't even generally reprint such things.I explained that it was an important notice with important case numbers and I wanted to attach it to N400 online application , that I filed. The officer told me, that they have all the info in their system, and just one number for I-751 , will be enough, that biometrics number didn't matter that much (Which I personally disagree). And that I can still copy even the damaged letter and attach it to the file, if I want to.

Then I asked her to look up my case.. The officer was looking into the computer screen for literally about 10 minutes, trying to figure out something...So the case is still in California Service Center. Last time somebody looked at my Biometrics on March 29, for I-751. After that no info. She said , that they might have some kind of local distribution office near or within CSC , where the cases come from CSC, before they got actually transferred to REAL local office, and that the February -March transfer "glitch" thing may refer to that. She couldn't give me any particular information regards the timelines, it seemed that she didn't know much about California backlog.

For Chicago she said : "We don't combine the cases" . The only thing is that 1 case could kind of speed up another, but they will be addressed separately, as 2 stand-alone cases. And that N400 can not be processed before I-751 is adjusted.

She gave me a piece of paper with e-mail , to email California Service Center directly and inquire them about my case timelines directly. (Which I doubt is a perfect solution , don't want to mess up with CSC. Lol), she said to come back in a few months to get my stamp, right before my extension letter will expire in August, and that the stamp will be given for 6 months. Otherwise, just to wait for any letter from CSC.

Thanks for sharing. I will have to do the stamp soon too. This is just....

it's over a waiting year, i check mail box everyday. It's so important to me to have card before July. Because i have an important test for career license by July. Haiza, i can not understand why the progress is too long.

My NOA is May 10th and still waiting. I filed N400 by paper and it was delivered yesterday to their lockbox.

If your case was sent to your local office (mine was) it depends on the workload at the office. so those other numbers above and below yours could be anywhere, different states, different offices so potentially quicker times. I''m concerned about mine, as I am Atlanta, and my N-400 application has a estimated wait time of 17 months.... so if my I-751 is here too, since April, how much longer will it be, a couple of months potentially...

Probably ...I do see the case was received at local office April 9th but I did not receive a physical notice.

Hmine is EAC17229xxxxxx.and still waiting for updates...do you think is the right time to ask for stamp and do the infopass?i live in north carolina...

I live in NC too. I was planning for going to infopass mid June. Need to start looking for appointments starting last week of May. I am hoping the GC comes through before that.

I did a searched as well and there are receipts that starts with EAC17229XXXXX that they processed already and green cards were mailed out already.

I don't know how USCIS processe application but its pretty inconsistent on how they processed it, meaning they are not following the working day or what they call "Computer Working day"

I know. My number is 17228xxxxx and many numbers above and below mine are approved....

Stokes interview? What does that mean?

I know the officer for the AOC interview told us afterwards he was specifically put on cases for suspected immigration fraud. The reason why we were flagged is because I'm much older than my husband.

Whenever my husband gets his next infopass for the i-551 stamp, I don't have to go up according to today's immigration officer. He is the one who said that my husband should specifically ask for him next time.

What is an AOC interview ?

    Ugh

Drove an  1 hour 40 minutes up to our local office for an infopass appointment to get a stamp in my husband's passport. There's a nationwide system shutdown! How frustrating! Our officer told us we could wait until after the lunch hour and check back in and they would let us try first stamp if the computers are back up.

My husband is with CSC. Had a nice conversation with the officer at the window just to make it so our trip wasn't a bust. We asked about the processing times and he said unfortunately CSC is slow. VSC doesn't have as much work and that's why they are moving much more quickly.

We discussed with him about the case File transferred to local office situations. He also confirmed that each time a file is touched, it has to be scanned in or hand injured in by the officer that touched it, looked at it, or even passed it on to another officer. It doesn't mean that it's been transferred to the local office. Impression I got from him that it wasn't a big deal.

I discussed if it's a good idea to apply for N100 before receiving ROC. He gave a strong indication that it was a very good idea to do so. Specifically for our office, Portland, Oregon, it'll move much faster ( currently facing turnaround time about 6 months). Looks like we're going to get hot on that!

Hope nobody else got stuck the infopass system-wide computer shut down!

Great, good info, thanks for sharing. Did you finally get your stamp ? also I think you mean N400 and not N100.

Where can I read about denied I-551 stamp and other nightmare issues - I've upcoming trip to home country; want to make sure I cover all possibilities on my end before leaving for trip. My package was delivered on 20th April, 2018 - waiting for check cashing & NOA letter in mail.

Like others have said these nightmares happen rarely. I really don't recommended voluntarily searching for horror stories to read. Peace of mind is worth it. If you feel ambitious you can look through posts from 2 or 3 days ago.

You just filed your I751, in a week or so you will receive your NOA and that should be good enough to travel with your expired GC (if at all it is expired). If the GC is not expired when you travel and if it wont be expired when you return then the GC itself is good enough to let you back in, but do carry the original NOA (not the copy).

in case something goes wrong at this point...i would, but that's only my opinion. like some other Vjer would say...it depends on what you expect to get out of it.  a) yes, you can hire an attorney at any point b) it's a peace of mind that in any wrong scenario where you have no clue , the lawyer can intervene.

Example: my N-400 application (petitioner here) went terribly wrong, because of incompetence of lawyer, but he did manage to fix it and get some answers for me that i wouldnt have otherwise gotten. The IO did also a number on my application which was straight forward and the lawyer stepped in.

Yep. The same way as insurance for a rental car from the rental. Most of the times you don't need it, but in the worst case of an accident with insurance you don't deal with the hassle.
