I'm 100% sure that you don't need an EAD to get your social security number. You only need your VISA K-1 a Birth certificate and the I-94 form. I get mine BEFORE I was married. I had the EAD (the one sealed in the I-94 at New York airport) though, but in the letter I received with the package that came with my K-1 VISA .. they said that I should get my SSN two weeks after I get into the country.
Good Luck

Hi,
You need these documentation ... (besides the standard forms)
- Certificado Policial ( You can get it at the Av.Aramburu )
- Certificado de Antecedentes Penales a PARA EL EXTRANJERO
- Certificado de Antedecentes Judiciales a NIVEL NACIONAL para el extranjero
- 2 copies of birth certificate PARA EL EXTRANJERO
IMPORTANT: All of this HAVE to be sealed by the Relaciones Exteriores department.
The originals of all the documents you have sent on the I-129F package. Pictures, Phone calls registry and boarding passes from the date you sent the package until today. ( In general, anything that can proof that your relationship continues )
Rgds,
Martin

Hello,
The advance parole document pictures can't be full frontal ? ... the document says:
The photos should show a three-quarter frontal viewof the right side of your face, with your right earvisible and your head bare
But sounds so weird to me ...
Thanks

Hello To All,
I'm preparing my AOS package and one of the forms I'm filling is the I-765 for job permission. I already have a temporary work permission from New York airport that is valid until June. So on this I-765 form do I have to apply as "Permission to accept employment" or "Renewal of my persmission to accept employment".
Probably the first option is the correct but I want to be sure ...
And ... my Eligibiliy number code is C 9 ???
Thanks !!

Hello guys,
I'm in Puerto Rico with my K-1 visa waiting for my marriage certificate. I just got married 10 days ago, so it will take maybe another week here to be able to have my wedding certificate. With that I'll immediately apply to the change of status. So I have questions ...
1) Here in PR there is a "Immigration and Naturalization" department. Can I apply there instead of sending all to Chicago ?, will be faster ?
2) I have work permit until June 11th. And I get a really good job overhere. The problem is that maybe I'll receive my EAD after June ( saying that I send my package next week ). This is a extremely good job so I dont want to quit !!! ... They know about my legal status but I think they have forgotten ... so what would happen if I just close my mouth until I receive my EAD and continue working for those couple of months ?
3) For how long I can travel If I receive my Advanced Parole ?
Thanks and Regards,
Martin & Sarah

Hello All,
I have been starting to get ready for the "change of status" process.
Do I need a copy of the police certificates that I use for K1 Visa process ?
Thanks and Regards,
Martin

Yes, well right now I'm ok, I have learn how to control it most of the time ( basically going to the gym everyday for one hour and a half ). I use to have problems eating, but now I'm ok.

If K1 VISA (Fiance) works the same for every country that VISA allows your Fiancee to enter to USA (but ONLY ONCE ) being there you have three months (90 days) to marry him, and apply to the change of status.
Usually the K1 VISA expires in 6 months.
Based on my experience, the K1 visa is the faster/better way to do this.

Make sure you have the last version of the Acrobat Reader.
-
I have had exactly the same problem, I put it in my medical record too. I have my K-1 now. So no worries ...
good luck.

Andrea,
All the Relaciones Exteriores and Reniec process is correct. But you DON'T need to translate your birth certificate or police records.
You will need to translate your Birth certificate later for your AOS process once you are married and living in USA.
Make sure to get two originals of your birth certificate. For the Visa you only need one, but later for the AOS you will need another.
BEST WISHES !!

Good luck Naty.
Ok here is hot as hell !! so do not worry about a sweater !! ...
RELAX, is important.
About the I-134 I bring it printed just in two or three pages but not in both sides. I think it has to be notarized ... my I-134 was notarized.
Bring a pencil with you ... sometimes they ask you to fill something.
GOOD LUCK !!!

My interview was in Lima, Peru. I had all my papers in order. I was single and she was divorced once. The interview took maybe 5 minutes. For me ... hours !! .. they asked me:
1.- How many times has you been in USA
2.- How long ?, How many time was the longest ?
3.- When have you met ?
4.- Where have you met ?
5.- Why you were there ?, for business ?, what kind of business ?
6.- How old is she ?
7.- Are you single ?
8.- Do you have kids ?
9.- What she does for living ?
That's all ...
-
The package that you will send will have COPIES of everything with the exception of the original signed forms like the I-129F itself.
On the interview your fiance should bring the originals, just in case they want to check the copies you have sent are real.
On the interview you will have to show the original evidence, photos, phone logs, emails .. etc the same ones you sent in the package AND evidence that the relationship has continue after the sending of the package until the day of the interview.
Hope this helps !!
Good luck

Hi,
My interview was 15 days ago. My fiancee was not with me and evertyhing went right.
You don't have to pay a cent for the fingerprints is all is ok, like Naty said.
Good luck !!

Congratulations
