  1. Hi all,

Finally I will apply to the USA Naturalization based on a 3 years marriage with a US. Citizen. Looking into the N-400 form, I found the part 7 is asking me the time I have been outside the USA in the last 5 years ! ... well, I have been living in USA for 4 years now. In 2006 I was still living in my country of birth.

Does any one of you have had the same problem ? ... Is this really a problem ?

    Regards,

  2. Ok, so by sponsor I thought was just the "financial" sponsor that not always is your spouse. Now that I think about it, does not make sense. So im guessing this is useful in case your spouse doesn't live with you ?. Because if the couple if moving each one will have to inform the change of address using different ways?, one by the web or form AR11 and the other one using the form I-865.

    Right?

  3. hmm ... thanks for your help guys. So basically he will have to work for at least 10 years to receive a minimum pension. And the health insurance will always be a LOT of money. Probably that much, that he wouldn't be able to pay for it with his job.

Seems to me that only parents with LOTS of money can move to US because being able to start here from scratch is almost impossible.

His english is ok, he can have an almost fluent conversation, and he can perfectly read it. And YEAH ... he would have to dye his hair.

  4. Hi all,

I'm planning to bring my father to the USA in a couple of years. But before doing that I want to be sure is something financially possible.

By that time he will be around 60 years old. He is in a good shape so working won't be a problem (Let's say for 5 to 7 years).

He has bachelor degree in management and he has been working as an independent on the stock market of my country for more than 10 years.

Starting from there I think he may can get a job of US$ 30,000 as salary.(Is this realistic for his age?)

On the other hand, I'm not sure how the retirement plan works in his case because he will be only working for 5 years. I'm guessing he won't receive any retirement money, right?.

And what about health insurance. If he gets a job probably they will pay for it. But what about when he retires?. Private Health insurance are SUPER expensive. What about Medicare? How can he get those benefits?.

    Thanks for your help.

  5. Well ... this is a mess. I've called the embassy of Costa Rica in Miami and they told to go to immigration where they will stamp my passport (a red stamp) expanding my residency for 1 year ( as the USCIS letter says ) and that will be enough. When I ask about what the webpage was saying they said, "hmmm ... this is the way we always work" ... so I have my uncle that's living there to ask there.

The big issue is that to get a VISA I will have to travel to Miami because they don't have an embassy here :(

  6. Hi guys,

I'm planning to travel to Costa Rica on September with my mother, my mother in law and my wife.

My green card expires this July but I have already sent the documentation for the remove of conditions and I have received the "NOA" letter indicating the extension of my permanent residency for one year. Anyway, I want to be sure if is safe to travel outside USA with the expired Green Card and this letter.

On the other hand, I need to call to Costa Rica embassy tomorrow because they say people with Green Card do not need VISA but the Green Card needs to be valid for 6 months. Again, I need to now if that letter will good enough.

    Regards,

  7. Hi Guys,

I'm a permanent resident still with the conditional status. Next year, I will be able to apply to "lift conditions" and then, the following year after for the citinzenship. The idea in the future is to bring my father here as a permanent resident too.

He likes to plan everything from advance so he is asking me about timelines. I have been trying to get that information from the "Immigration timelines" section but I'm not sure which type of visa will apply for him (IR5 ??).

I told him that he will need to wait at least 2 years from now to be able to apply, because my understanding is I need to have three years as a permanent resident to be able to apply for the citizenship. So I already have 1 year. But what I'm not sure is about the time will take for him to get the migration visa. And ... looking the timelines I found the citizenship takes about 3 to 4 months to be processed.

So what time frame is realistic ? ... maybe 3 years instead of 2 ?

Other question, I have been reading about the migration process for parents, and they talk about an agent ... what is that ? .. I haven't use one for my process ! ..

    Thanks,

  8. Oh yes, I'm enjoining this beatiful city. But is true there are some serious problems on some goverment areas.

So, ... I will have to wait right ? .... how is that "move" to florida works ? ... is legal ?

    Thanks for the help !!

  9. Hi all,

I got my green card through the K-1 process and I'm living in Puerto Rico for a year. Like two months ago I've started the process to get a driver license from here. When I went to the office they told me they need to send my information to customs office (immigrations office) and then they will be able to continue with the process. Well, is about two months now and they have not received any response. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to make this process quicker.

    Regards,

  10. Make sure they said that you dont need to translate the documentation versus you dont need an "official" translation of the documentation. Is different. For K1 VISA the documentation need to be translated by any person capable to do it. He/She just need to add a document with this name and identification number .. etc. This person doesn't need to be an "official" translator.

In my case, my mom did it ... I could have done it too ...

    Regards,

    Martin

  12. Thanks a lot !

If you have green-card you can remove and discard the I-94 card from passport. People with LPR status have no need to carry an I-94 card. If you attend a AOS interview and were appruved, the IO usualy takes the I-94, if you were approved without interview, you can discard the I-94, USCIS California has a photocopy of the I-94 as part of the I-485 petitiom.

Traveling with green card is like before, you travel using your foreign passport, and when you re-enter the USA you use the green-card to re-enter as LPR.

You need to remember to use the name in your passport for name you book airline tickets in.

  13. Hi All,

    This is a simple question:

    - I have my Green Card and my passport with the I-94 form ( the one I use to enter to USA ).

    - I'm going to travel to my origin country next month.

How is going to be the process ?, I mean, will they check my green card and the passport and take the I-94 form ? (maybe I don't need to take the I-94 form with me), will they make weird questions ?, Is there any risk ?

    Thanks and regards

    Martin

  14. My American boyfriend and I have made the decision to start the K1 procedure so we can finally be together. I have a question regarding the I-129F form that he has to fill out. One of the questions he has to answer is when I last visited the US, which was just last month. It also asks for the I-94 number. How important is this and can we leave it blank? The reason I am asking is that when I left earlier this month from the airport in Green Bay they, they took the green I-94 form from my passport so I have no idea what the number was. If it is really important, is there a way to find out what the I-94 number was? I don't want to leave the question blank just so the form gets returned to my boyfriend and we face a delay.

    Hi,

If you check the I-129F form on the Example Forms section of VJ you will see that the form indicate:

(fill ONLY if your fiance is with you in the US at time of filling and sending, if not, put N/A)

So NO you don't need that unless you are in the U.S by the time you are aplying.

    Regards.

  15. - My fiancee's full name is Amy Robin Faith Elisabeth Bakke

Do we put her third and fourth name in the additional name section on the forms ??

Yes - List full names on forms where possible - list Amy as first,Robin as middle and of course Bakke as last whenever entire name is not possible.

On the G325A it says : 'All other names used' Does that apply to this ?? Does that box require those other 2 names ??

Also my name on passport is Marinus Arie, but I go by Mark... does that count for this section as well ??

    - I noticed some saying that the evidence has to be provided as a second step, after you sent in the I-129F package,

but this website states the collection of evidence WITH the package... what is true ??

For the I-129f Petition there are two stages where evidence will be needed. Initially any evidence with the package has to do with both of your identities (birth certificates, passports, etc) and proof of having met in person in the last two years. Down the road, when the petition is approved and sent to the embassy/consulate, there is further evidence that is needed (besides your medical, and police certificate, etc) which has to do wit proof of on-going relationship.

If that package only requires proof of having met, then why would I include the proof of an ongoing relationship ? Especially if Im going to send that later ? Should I send new material later, or can I apply the same stuff ?? Or do they not need it anymore at all then ??

    - Is there also a G325A example form for the US citizen ? I could only find the foreign fiancee version on this site.

There is only one G325A - it is for both of you - it's a biographical form, meaning you simply enter your/her information.

So what do we fill in at the File number box and the heavy bordered box at the bottom ?? because that one states 'applicant' who of us is that ??

    - The USCIS site AND the visajourney download of the I-129F form, give me a barcode error before showing the file, while opening.

Is that a problem ? Is that form not one I should use ?? I dont want to use an old, corrupted of sample form. I want to get this right straight away.

It's not a problem - the Download section is a link directly to the USCIS forms site, so they're the same form.

But it still gives me an error. How am I sure that they wont deny it despite it maybe being their fault

    1) Yes, I will suggest you to put those names ( Faith Elisabeth and Mark ) on the section other names.

    2) Ok, you will send your package with COPY of evidence of relationship from the past, boarding passes, pictures, letters, bills toether, whatever but those are copies. On the future you will go to an interview where you need to bring the same evidence that you sent before but the ORIGINALS AND evidence that the relationship has continue after you send the package I-129F.

    3) I'm not 100% sure here but I think you have to leave that in blank. Have you checked the samples here at Visa Journey ?

4)About the barcode error, or you Acrobat Reades is too old, or there is something wrong whith you PC. I'll suggest you to reinstall the Acrobat Reader ( last version ) or try in a different PC.

    Regards and Good Luck

  16. Sorry, I'm new in this website and I'm just exploring everything. I don't know anything about TOUCHES....What do they mean?

    Thank you,

    Mirla.

    Hola Mirla,

Welcome to visa journey !! ...

A "touch" happens everytime somebody at the USCIS office "touch" your documentation to do something, when this happens they have to scan and register it. You can see that information (touch date and if it has change your status)

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

If you register there you will receive notification emails too.

    Regards,

    Martin
