Naa Atswei, please did you have to register with USA travel docs website or DHL prior to your husband going for his interview at US embassy in Ghana? My husband's interview is coming up soon and no where in the instructions did it say we had to register with DHL or any other website. Please let me know. Thanks

I registered on the website prematurely. You do not have to register until after the interview.

  2. I’m sorry you were denied. I was actually denied the first time I filed. It took them 15 months to send my the NOIR. Had I known it would have taken over a year to receive a document full of lies I would have repetitioned the day we were denied. Back two years ago we (the spouses) were allowed in the embassy and I heard every question the woman asked my husband. He answered them all. She advised him that we needed a co sponsor and assigned him to come back in a month with a cosponsor. One month later he went back with the co sponsor info. After sitting 4 hours the woman called him back up to the window and denied him on that bogus 221g... the form gave zero reasons as to why he was denied. I had reached out to my senators office to get a reason that took abt a month to get a response. They told them that they deemed our marriage was a sham. No reason, no methodology, nothing. After 15 months I received a letter from the USCIS with a laundry list of erroneous accusations. The CO stated my husband couldn’t answer questions about my college life. (Mind u I was there and she never asked one question abt my college life).. it said that none of our family was at our wedding. (Which was a life, I even submitted affidavits from all who attended)... Also she felt like we married just so he could evade immigration laws... 😐 so all and all we were denied because she could deny us.  Not to mention I later found out that US and GHANAIAN workers were selling visas for 10k a pop! Anymuch, I said all that to say this. A lot of people will tell you to wait on the NOIR, or NOID. I will tell you not to waste a year of your life to combat lies. Reapply, be extremely organized offer my assistance to you if you would like. But don’t sit around and wait on these government workers. They give zero cares about if you are ever with ur spouse! The key is learning the system and being organized... one love!

Yeah, something isn’t right there. I’m so sorry. That must be awful. Have you checked the country specific area on VJ for your country? Maybe someone has been through the same and can shed a light for you. You said you’ve emailed the embassy several times, but have you tried calling and asking to talk to an American officer at the embassy? I remember a VJ user saying they were having some trouble on the embassy end and they called them and called them and wouldn’t give up until they spoke to an American officer who could tell them what was going on. Good luck.

I’ve checked the VJ portal very few folks are being approved in Ghana. There was one other person who had been waiting a month as well. I’ve called the embassy and asked for a US officer only to be told they don’t take call in the consulate department and to send an email. Ultimately after repeating g themselves they hang up on me. I even found an ext on an old an website and got an actual human being who told me she couldn’t help me nor firward my request to the correct department. I am not just saying it, I’ve tried everything!! I even tried to reschedule am appointment to the enbassy and the ustraveldocs website will not allow me to do so. This was my 2nd time petitioning for my Husband so we do so excited that we were approved this time. We have been at this for 4 years only to hit this brick wall when it’s actully time for him to get his passport and join me finally. It’s really sad that these people have the power to play with our lives the way they do.

I am so sorry. That’s horrible. You said you’ve already contacted your congressman? What did they say? That is definitely unusual and something is the matter. The embassy is the one who can tell you why it’s taking so long. I know it’s frustrating but you have to keep bugging and keep calling. What has the embassy told you when you called them? Sometimes when it takes so long at the embassy they just send it back to USCIS. You can try and call USCIS and see what they say. I’d try your congressman again.

THE congress emailed them and is waiting for an answer. They wouldn’t send a passport back to them Uscis, the visa was already issued so I know for sure they wouldn’t send the case back to USCIS. I can’t  get an answer from the embassy for nothing.

What does the status on the system say? If it says AP it could be processing for months and there’s nothing you can do unfortunately.

That would make sense if it was in AP.  It has been issued since 11/30/2017. The case was updated with today's date after chatting with them earlier. But honestly NO ONE will get back with me on this passport. He has missed a flight, Missed my mother memorial funeral service. It is a nightmare.

  6. Well It's now been a full month since my husband's visa was issued through the ever slow Ghanaian Embassy and he has still been unable to get his passport back... This has the been THEE ULTIMATE worse experience of a life time!!! SMH!!! I have already registered on the usless www.ustraveldocs.com/gh; I have emailed the embassy three times a day for the last 2 weeks; I have emailed my Senator's office; I have called the support call center for ustraveldocs; I have visited DHL about 8 times; I have chatted with their customer service 4 times; I have sent feedback through their online support; I have called NVC (to see if they could offer any assistance) I've done everything but go back to the embassy. Do you have any suggestions,,,, I'm assed out!

@Naa Atswei  I feel your pain!  Tomorrow makes a month since my husband turned his passport over to DHL.  I have already had to reschedule his flight once looks as if I will be doing that again this weekend.  It's very frustrating to say the least.  The Embassy is horrible.  He missed Thanksgiving, now Christmas and looks like New Year's too.  The Embassy will also be closed Monday and Tuesday  of next week for Christmas on the 25th and Boxing Day on the 26th.  I'm truly at a lost for words.  Our process was smooth sailing until we reached Ghana Embassy.  If they have inadequate staff they need to hire more help.  Over 16 months of waiting.  Then I have family waiting as well...like everyday I get a text or call have you heard anything yet?  Will he be here for Christmas?  Is he coming?  Does he want to come?  What's taking so long if he is approved?  May God be with you guys!

I'm so sorry for you guys. It's the same sad song for us. It's so frustrating. Friday it will be one FULL MONTH for us as well. I have reached out to the Senator's office, but they too are waiting to hear back something. Apparently my husband's friends mom has a friend or contact in the embassy so come tomorrow they are supposed to look up our case and see what the hell is the hold up. I mean to make someone miss a flight, that's alot of money to rebook. I'm so discouraged. Good luck to both of us.

  8. My Husband's Visa was issued 11/29. We still have not been able to pick up his passport from DHL. He has been there a total of 4 times. I am not sure what the delay is. One individual advised me that her husband interviewed on 12/6 and they received an email on 12/10 that the passport was available for pick up. Lol, I am so confused and the embassy is SO unorganized. I have reached out to my senator. Next week it will be a full month that we have been waiting. My husband has missed his scheduled flight, and my mother's memorial funeral service as well. This has been an absolute nightmare.

  9. Good Morning,

My husband's IR1 Interview was 11/29/2017 at the Ghana Embassy. He was granted his Visa (yaaay!) but we still have not been able to collect his passport from DHL. Every time he goes to collect it he is told that it is not there and that we will receive an email when it is ready for pick up. According to the paperwork he was giving at the interview it should have taken no more than 10 business days.  It's been about 13 business days being that they had a holiday there. I honestly wanted my husband to travel here before the Christmas holiday. I am very concerned as to the whereabouts of his passport. When I reach out to the embassy they tell me to reach out to the ustraveldocs.com when I reach out to ustraveldocs.com they tell him to reach out to the embassy. When I call the customer service number they have zero information, even asking me when was our interview. I am really lost as to what to do. Has anyone who has dealt with the Ghana embassy had this same issue? Did you receive an email or phone call when your passport was available for pickup? Please advise.

We have been waiting since 11/27/17. We have been checking the website and it just says " no status available". Are you seeing the same thing? Also the only thing we received from the interview was the instructions on how to pick up the visa, Did you have the same experience?

I’ve been checking and calling. Our interview was 11/29. The DOS website says “Issued”, the ustraveldocs website doesn’t say anything.

Hi family, Iam Mumeen from Ghana, I got married in 2015 with my black American wife, in 2016 July I went to the interview and I was denied and co told me he is sending my case back to uscis, on January 17 2017 uscis receive my case, and til now I have not hear nothing from case, my wife always call but nothing good has come, my wife called and she was given a procedure with the receptionest and took my wife information ,so in 30days uscis sent my wife a email but the email dose not tell us anything reasonable,

I need a help on what to do family

Good morning, My initial case was denied because the CO believed our marriage was a sham. It took 15 months from the interview before inreceieved a NOIR. I have now reapplied a new petition which has been approved and we are awaiting an interview. Had I known then what I know now, I never would have waited those 15 months for that NOIR. I would have simply reapplied. But, food luck to you and ur spouse.
