My case went straight from "Evidence Received" to "Interview Scheduled." Got the notification on the 4th of June that it was scheduled for the 28th of July. Original application was filed in September 2017, though.
Ok thanks!

Hi Boston (or MA) residents,
How long did it take for those of you who have already gone through the i-485 interview. How long did it take for you to get the date after your case was ready for scheduling?
Thanks!

Hey Olivia,
I just wanted to let you (and i guess everyone else here) know that after 192 days my EAD has just been approved and i should receive the card in the next 30 days!
This is 1 day after the congressman's office sent an inquiry to USCIS so i don't know if these two things are related.
Either way, it's been so long it's not even feeling real!
From what i gather, most people will receive their ead and ap around the 200 day mark.
So i hope you've received good news as well and i wish everyone on here the best of luck.
I'm gonna keep posting every now and then since we'll have to see how long the gc will take
Congrats Martin! Thank you for keeping me (us) posted
I have also received good news earlier this week! My EAD has been approved and my GC is ready to be scheduled for an interview.
Do you (or someone else) have any idea how long the Boston local office takes to schedule interviews?
-
Hi guys,
As it turns out. After having sent a response two weeks ago for a RFE to my I-485 application. My status changed this morning to 'ready to be schedule fro an interview'. That is a step and I am happy about it. Also, I am wondering WHERE IS MY EAD? haha
Do you know (from experience) if I should receive an EAD update soon?
And, should I contact my congressman again? Because I feel like a this point, if my file is complete and ok to get an interview, there is no reason for my EAD no to be approved soon. -

We got 1 RFE. They wanted more info on my tax/income. I am a 10-99 filer so my taxes are all over the place. I did get notification back that they received it and within 3 month of that date they would make a decision. 3 months will be June 28th. No idea if that means a decision on EAD/AP/AOS or just our EAD/AP.
I filed an ombudsman query.
How far along in the process did you get your RFE?

Guy I have a question and maybe one of us can help me.
I became pregnant during the process, so maybe I will be very pregnant or already have the baby at the time of the interview. Did I have any declaration to do to uSCiS about it ?
Félicitations ! Congrats! No, you don't need to declare your pregnancy to USCIS

hi guys just want to asked if i can expedite my tax transcript coz i got RFE for my affidavit of support AOS coz its deadline on august 2018
I had the same RFE. You can order the documents online for the past years. They take a few days to arrive by mail.
For 2018, you can print it right away.

Hi Olivia,
I contacted Capuano's office earlier today. I'll see what they say.
I replied 1 week later with the documents they requested in the RFE but the status of my case only updated amost 3 weeks later. But that is only in regards to i485. EAD and AP have not been updated in any way since they received my case on Nov. 27th last year. So it's a waiting and hoping game I guess.
Good luck to you too and I'll make sure to update anything I get here!
Does the nature of your RFE matter? I have received a RFE for my I-485. Does that mean that only the I-485 package was opened and not my EAD/AP package?

Thank you for the reply!
Yeah, that is my main worry. That the RFIE delayed the EAD by another 70-90 days. As long as I receive EAD and AP, the GC can take as long as it wants, because at leat I'll be able to work and travel. I'm glad they're working on my case though (even if it's going painfully slow). I was just about to contact the representative in congress for my district (Massachusetts 7th). Because even if they can't do much to help, it also probably doesn't hurt trying.
Hi Martin,
I am also from MA 7th district, are you in Boston? If so, contact Michael Capuano's office. They were super helpful to me! I am also in the same situation with the RFE haha
I received a RFE on May 11th (in the mail, May 8th email). I replied the same day, May 11th. My online status changed to RFE received by USCIS on May 17th, which makes it 12 days today.
I have read online and asked people about the waiting time between RFE received by USCIS and approval, and apparently they approve within 1 week or 2 if you are already passed the normal processing time. Which is our case. That being said, I am already at 12 days and I am getting worried. Just like you I want to be able to work!!
Good luck and lets keep each other posted!

@Olivia2804 that’s good news, I received a RFE (initial) all the way back in December. Since then, silence. I don’t know what it means, the Ombudsman said like 10 ago they inquired with the USCIS about my case, but haven’t heard anything back. I even got the informed delivery by USPS to see if I got any mail I feel like I can’t wait any longer to get a job.
I feel you, it is really slow and frustrating, but you contacted your congressman and he took action for your case. So hang in there, you will have good news soon!

@Olivia2804 is this the first RFE that you guys have? and btw is it initial or additional evidence?
First RFE and it is initial evidence.
Which unfortunately means that for those of you who still have not heard anything yet, it might mean they haven't looked at your application at all as of now and when they do, and they realize that something is wrong/missing, they will send you an RFE. This is what happened to me, despite having already waited 5+ months and raised 2 SR (both SR were completed and said everything was fine LOL).
But the good news is, when they do send you RFE after so long, it usually means that they have actually started processing your case and they are just waiting on what is missing to finalize.
My RFE packet was delivered at Lees Summit today, so I am hoping for good news soon!
Also, contact your congressman! Mine was really helpful. Might not even have had RFE yet if he had not helped with my case.
Good luck!

So...after so many time without news, an RFE received in the end of April, and them have received it 7 days ago, I just hope things will move a little bit, at least for the EAD or the AD.
i am going to begin to call anybody I can call to have some news, even if I know the RFE is going to delay everything.
I am just super hurry to have the possibility to travel or work.

I am right there with you! I received an RFE request last Friday and sent the back docs the same day. How long did it take them to notify you that they had received it after your RFE packet was delivered?
I have read a lot that it roughly takes a week or two for them to approve after they have received it. Fingers crossed!!

Ok. we got our EAD back in May of 2017 and we already renewed the EAD- what we are waiting on the AOS to be approved. the Green card.
Oh ok! Since you posted in this topic that is about EAD I thought you were waiting on EAD
In any case, you should have received notification that they resumed working on your case after they had received your reply to RFE. If it is not the case, I would get in touch with them, maybe a SR?

Hey, can you elaborate on the whole "contacting your congress(wo)man" a bit? You can send me a personal DM, too. I am about to do the same but I don't know where to start. I've heard that I need to fill out a privacy release form? Please help!
The first step is to figure out who your congressman is. If you are not sure your spouse can probably help you. Then you go to their website and fill out the privacy release form. With or in the form, it will ask yo to describe your situation and tell them why your contacting them. Try to tell a story, not just that you have been waiting for too long. After that you submit the form (or send it through email/mail depending what they ask). Then they should contact you.
Make sure you are out of processing times, otherwise they will probably tell you they can't help.
If you can't figure out what to do once you are on their website, you can also call them and they will tell you what to do exactly.
Good luck!

It is normal that your are still waiting. EAD takes around 5 months, so you should get approved around July.

I'm still waiting on my husband's AOS to be approved after sending them the updated info they wanted from the RFE back in 2.27.2017. tell me how long does it really take for Lees Summit to look at your docs?
How far along in the process were you when you received RFE?

It really depends at what stage of the application you are, I am assuming you do not have a EAD yet and it is quite late after applying, from what I read about other cases once they receive your response your EAD should be approved shortly, like a few weeks to a month later.
For people like me where it happened quite early (1 month after filing) I think it slows the process, there has been no movement on my file since and still do not have a EAD after 4 months. Impatiently waiting for 5 months to start harassing them since it will be out of processing times.
If possible respond to the RFE asap, like withing a week or so.
Good luck
Thanks! Yes, I will try to respond asap. I am actually pretty sure I know what they want (I didn't send the right tax docs). Hopefully I am approved soon after. Will be 6 months on 5/17.

not yet how to contact them?
For the Ombudsman you can find a link on the USCIS website https://www.dhs.gov/case-assistance.
For your Congress(wo)man, you have to google who (s)he is and get in touch with them. They usually have a form on their website.
My Congressman has been really helpful and quick!

Thanks
Maintaining Status

Hi Guys,
Do you know in practice what the requirements are to maintain status (LPR) while outside of the US for several months?
How long can I stay outside the US before coming back without losing my status?
Thank you!
