  1. @Michael2017...I think it doesn't really matter when the ceac tracker changes as long as you got the IL in your hand because mine didn't change for 2 months after I got IL (received IL in April 2018 for interview in May)..Even after the interview, it still said at NVC...and we travelled by July...still then it showed "at NVC"..I don't know if it changed now. I think there's a delay in them updating the system - it scares the rest of us into thinking there is something wrong....like I did...I kept thinking there was something missing...and I took 6 full clear folders..and my interview last about 20 to 25min...the wait prior was like 4 hours...I had documents to everything she asked and extras.. Good luck for the interview 😊😊👍👍 Hope things go well.

  2. Hi everyone. Just wanted to update you all on my interview experience.
    PD: June 8, 2016
    Approval: May 9, 2017
    CC: Dec 15, 2017
    Case updated to CR 1 / IR 1: March 23, 2018
    Interview: May 21, 2018

    Questions asked:
    01. Name, age, profession
    02. Visa status in UAE, job title
    03. Original birth certificate with translation
    04. Original marriage certificate - church and government
    05. Wedding album
    06. Photo collages - various occasions with members of both families, honeymoon, holidays etc
    07. Air tickets to visit each other
    08. Petitioner W2-IRS 2017
    09. Petitioner Naturalization certificate copy & US passport copy
    10. Platforms of communication with spouse & inlaws - Skype, WhatsApp, T-Mobile, Vonage printouts
    11. Petitioner salary certificate/employee letter
    12. Police clearance certificates from each country I stayed
    13. Previous B1/B2 visa copy and application
    14. Recent 2" x 2" photos - 2 copies
    15. Recent passport copy

I had also taken wedding ring bills, the reception bill for catering and venue & actual wedding invitation which she just glanced at.

I made a list of documents & set out my folders accordingly. I put little post-its on all the documents with my full name & case number. The officer was very pleased that I was well organized & thanked me for it. She returned some old documents that were on the file with them and took copies of recent documents. And then she congratulated me & said I'm approved!! All by the grace of God.I thank everyone on the group for being a support at various stages. Hope you all get through soon. Good luck and God bless you all!! 😊😊

  3. Hi everyone. I got a question. I had to change my passport because I had to split my given name to include a surname (the surname field was always blank thanks to the passport authority putting the entire name under given name). All my applications to NVC and USCIS now match my passport. How do I update the US embassy in UAE about the change before the interview?

@ Michael2017...do you know anyone who has been through this?

  4. Hey guys..My husband upgraded our cases to IR-1 as he is a US citizen now. He called up to make sure they received the documents for the upgrade and the officer offered to call him back...and within 2-3 days, we were informed the cases have been upgraded and that Abu Dhabi now needs to set out a date for our interview according to their office schedule...and that as soon as the date is confirmed, NVC will email/mail out the interview notice...which should be in about another week or so. We were advised to call back if we hear nothing within 2 weeks..

So relieved that the loooonnng wait is finally going to end and we get to be together  :) Wishing everyone good luck with their cases. I'll keep you updated on what happens next.

Hi. I am sure your husband is done with his Oath ceremony. Can you please let me know his experience and how long did it take in the whole process? I have an appointment with my lawyer so wants to schedule accordingly.

Hey..Yes my husband had his oath ceremony on 23rd at 8am. He got there by 7.30...and was done with the entire process by around 9am. He was told he could apply for a passport the very next day and now he has an American passport too - I think it took like a week. The USCIS website still shows " Interview was scheduled" though - no updates happening on that...don't know why. We are waiting for his original oath certificate to be mailed back to him.

My father got admitted for a surgery and I had to be with him -  a lot of things happening now..I'm sorry for the late reply. Did you get your oath ceremony notice?

Thanks for all the info. But i dont know how soon USCIS approve my application after i send the letter to upgrade. I will have my documents ready for sure.

When they receive the upgrade, you'll be approved by USCIS sooner too. Chart B for April 2018 shows deadline upto Sept 2017 so you're PD is current on that..Just email in a copy of your spouse's naturalization certificate & call them up to inform you are upgrading to IR-1. You're almost done! 😊 Lucky you. Congrats!

My petition is not yet approved. You mean to say when we upgrade the petition, it will automatically redirect to NVC for the further process and I will get the interview?

NVC might take 2 to 6 weeks..but you don't have to wait for 1st chart anymore once your case is approved..things move fast as they process US citizen's spouse applications way faster than F2A. Keep your list of documents ready so you don't waste time on collecting them. As soon as the fees show paid...you can send in the AOS+IV package.

  8. We are not sure how long the upgrade takes but we were advised by the officer to inform the US consulate at Abu Dhabi about him being a citizen. It doesn't make any difference in our case based on us having an interview early as we have been waiting it out for 21 months now. An upgrade could benefit you as you are an immediate relative as soon as your spouse updates the case at NVC..and then you'll be scheduled your interview early..no more waiting.

Is it possible if you can list the timeline for your I-130 processing? I had filed my I-130 in July 2017 and will upgrade once my husband becomes USC. I don't know how long will it take after the upgrade.

Some people say that the processing time will remain same till it reaches NVC. I am quite worried.

Hey...My husband was given a notice with the date and time of his oath ceremony right after the interview. They have not updated their website nor their application about his oath ceremony so we are a little worried on that.

    Atlanta Field Office

My husband has his interview today and it went for 20 minutes. They asked for the divorce decree and Marriage certificate in the documents as he was not married when he filed N400. Overall it went well. IO asked  6 questions followed by a written and oral test. They told us to wait for the Oath letter which we should receive within 30 days.

Now anxiously waiting for the Oath letter :)

    Congrats!!

    Hi,

I have a quick question. Can I accompany my husband during his interview and oath ceremony?

Will they let me enter the office.

I don't really know. I think they only allow the applicants inside. I have no way of knowing because I'm waiting in UAE for the F2A/IR interview. I haven't visited the US at all. I'm sorry I couldn't help you on this.

    Remy/everyone,

I would like to shed some light on a major flaw on the USCIS Processing Times website I just discovered last month when I was on the phone with an IO. DO NOT consider or assign any value to the table header, where it says "... AS OF DEC 31, 2017". As I was shockingly advised by multiple IOs, that is a flaw they have on their site & they dont know how it works (bunch of BS if you ask me) As per them, the dates in the table are as of the date when the website was last updated!

So in the example stated above, the Atlanta office was processing cases of Feb 7 2017  AS OF FEB 15, 2018!!

I WAS shocked beyond belief to find this out. IT totally screws up everyone's timeline  & expectation of a resolution to their application. Please feel free to call USCIS & confirm with them. Hope someone can say that I'm wrong!

@ coolleo89...Wow! I didn't know that. That's actually stupid then..them including the "as of dates"..what's the point? To confuse people more? Thanks a lot for the update..I apologize for the error in misinterpreting those charts.

Every June filer pretty much have an interview scheduled, and some already got their oath notice and/or their citizenship. While I sit here on my in line for interview since 7/13/2017 lol. Congrats to all that have finished or is about to put an end to this long arduous journey!!! Maybe, mine will be over by 2020 😭

And if the table shows you're are a little behind, don't fret. They only update that page every 3 or 4 weeks. For example...in our case...Atlanta field office, the page was updated Feb 15, 2018. It shows that as of December 31, 2017 all cases with the PD of Feb 7, 2017 for the N400 have been called. The normal processing times for Atlanta is somewhere between 6 to 8 months as they tell us...though many have only got their interviews just beyond 8-9 months. We applied June 1, 2017. And he was done with his biometrics in the 1st week of August 2017...so in line for interview since August 2017...my husband was scheduled an interview for March 9, 2018 on January 29, 2018. He passed the interview (thanks to God) and now he is scheduled for his oath ceremony on March 23, 2018...hang in there!! You'll get there soon :-) :-)

Hey..don't be discouraged. I know the wait is exhausting and frustrating. When did you apply? And which field office? It would help if you updated your timeline..use this link https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

Find your field office and check the processing times. Then you'll get an idea about when your interview should be. If your case is out of normal processing times *(I think it varies for different field offices), then maybe you can raise an enquiry. USCIS has a mobile application too ..where you can save your application number and they alert you as soon your case status changes. Don't worry..you'll get there soon. God bless!!
