  1. Of course you can be stressed. Being apart is hard. I've never said it wasn't, and I am certainly not unsympathetic to how difficult it is. I really think that the original post was more appropriate for the interview thread. You'd get as much hope from reading this same information there as you do in a separate thread. I think that some people just need to be a bit more thoughtful when posting.

I really find it offensive how vitriolic Dodi becomes when anyone makes a suggestion to her. I found, and still do find it helpful to learn from others' experiences.

  2. The waiting is definitely tough, so I really do feel for you. I had a few times when dating my now husband where we didn't get to see each other in person for over 8 months. No fun at all. And I promise you while it all seems so awful now, once you are together that distance quickly fades into oblivion.

With regard to the CR1, whats done is done and in the long run, it is the better option - instant green card and all that stuff. If she does try to come over and is turned away she simply needs to disclose that once she reaches the embassy interview page. Its not like she'd incur a ban, just a refusal of entry, which admittely sucks, but isn't horrific in terms of holding up the visa.

Tough choices ahead, I'm afraid. i wish you the best. :)

  3. My only concern is that they are already married, which may or may not cause problems upon inspection at the POE. As she is an intended immigrant on the merit of the CR-1 (I presume) petition, they may not permit entry. I think this situation is a bit riskier than a K1 applicant attempting the same journey.

  4. For future reference, with swimmer's ear all you need is rubbing alcohol to cure it. Tilt the head, pour it in, wait a few seconds, then drain it out.

iteresting tidbit, Mags! I never knew that. But, I suppose it really does make sense since swimmer's ear is bacterial & alcohol is effecive at killing bacteria.

  5. The whole point of the interview thread is to have "one-stop shopping" - all information relative to interviews is in one place, rather than cluttering up the forum with superfluous threads. People have hope that interviews will be scheduled regardless, since London has always scheduled interviews. I've never known them to not schedule interviews. Eventually every approved petition gets an interview, so there is always hope.

  6. no need to. i had never had any interaction with the lady, until she attacked me in THIS forum. apparently she had been stalking me in the OT & on expats. i say apparently, because she would never engage in a discussion with me after i asked why she felt the need to attack me, for things others had said in the OT & on expats. i have seen her attack jasman, gary, charles & other non UK posters as well inside the OT forum & this one. so, i think she is a stalker & engages in group think too much to be a mod in any forum.

I'm a stalker? That is the most hilarious thing I've ever heard! I admit, I did criticize jasman for being so insensitive to someone who'd husband had walked out on her. His comment that he was so glad he had a wonderful wife added nothing to the discussion. I stand by my remarks. Gary is a known mysoginist, which I take offense to, like many others on VJ. I will occasionally comment when he offends me. Charles I've said my peace on. I don't like him. But for anyone to believe he is a good candidate for deputy mod moreso than I? Well, that is simply crazy!

I rarely post in OT. I haven't posted on expats in ages, or even logged in there. However, I would point out that any behavior exhibited on expats should not be a factor in deciding anything on VJ. After all, they are 2 separate entities, one of which is "anything goes".

I know one time you sent me a rather lengthy PM, however at the time I skimmed it I didn't have time to respond to you. Then I got busy with other things and simply forgot about it. Sorry, but the situation to which you refer I cannot even recall. I'm sorry if it offends you that I didn't get back to you.

I try to be helpful in the UK forum, even if some people don't like hearing calm down, etc. I remember Mags handing out very similar advices to noobs when she was a mod. I'm not petitioning for myself to be a deputy mod. A few friends recommended me and I am honored that they think so much of me. If asked, I would *only* monitor the UK forum, whch I believe I am capable of doing.

I would just like to add that I find it interesting that someone who finds my so-called "attacks" so offensive has no problems openly attacking me. Walk the walk, smoke.

  7. I'm super annoyed becuase when I talked to the USCIS helpline the woman I spoke with acknowledged that my husband's petition was filed on time, but we still had to submit evidence consvincing them that they had made an error. The online case staus still says the eptition is under initial review, though I know this, too, is incorrect. I would love to know if they've actually resumed the review of my husband's petition. It would be a bit easier to cope with if they'd actually update our online account so we knew what was happening.

  8. From what I've read, if you require emergency services that don't result in hospitalization, you'll not be charged, but if you need to be admitted, you will be charged. However, as Robin noted, your US health insurance may very well cover you should you fall ill while abroad.
