I got “great” news yesterday. My interview that was supposed to take place on 11/16 got cancelled and supposedly re-scheduled for 12/11. I say “supposedly” because even though the voicemail from USCIS indicated that Chicago FO re-scheduled I still don’t see any update online. They really have a way of letting people down.

What?!?  This is crazy.  That is a 3 week difference.  Hoping you receive some clarification very soon.  Keep us posted.

I'm anxious about all of this.  I still haven't heard anything myself and thought I would have received notification not long after you.

  2. That's great to hear!   Keep us posted!

My husband applied March 21 (Chicago, paper/NBC application).   He's been inline since April 21.  We got a text last week - 10/18 that he has been scheduled for an interview.  Once we get the actual physical letter with the date, I'll let you know.

Seems like Chicago is finally moving again!

That's great to hear!  Keep us posted!

We're finally seeing some movement. I just noticed an update on the March filers forum. Someone who filed on 3/9 just received their interview letter :D

I just saw this as well.  There is hope! I filed at the end of March and my NOA is April 7 so I'm sure I have a while to go but I bet I'll  be checking my mailbox and online case status daily now.

Hi all, just found the Chicago thread. My wife filed online (since that's now an option) in July 2017, with ROC still pending (since August 2016).

For biometrics, we learned that the Broadway service center recently closed (boo! It was super close, just a couple of stops on the L, whereas the Norridge one is a PITA to get to on public transit). Yesterday, Sept 28, she already got notified that an interview has been scheduled, and that a PDF with the interview date should be showing up in the online portal soon. Given the backlog for N-400 cases in Chicago, this seems way too good to be true, and we'll believe it when we see it... Good luck to all who are processing through the Chicago office.

This is wonderful!  Keep us all posted as this is the only movement we've heard of since the February filers received their interview dates.

I went to Chicago O'Hare's enrollment center this weekend to change my status, global entry as an LPR to now citizen. You have to go in person but you don't need to make an appointment and it's very fast. When I went, there were about 20 applicants waiting for global entry interviews but a CBP officer took my U.S. passport and global entry card first. He told me to take a seat, he was gone for 5 minutes, then came back with my passport and GE card and told me I was all done. Super fast update. If you don't mind having to go to an airport one more time to update your citizenship, you can go ahead apply now. There is no fee for making this update.

Thanks for the information.  This is helpful to quite a few of us!

  7. Hi there,

I have global entry and a pending n400 application.  My global entry card states my current citizenship (which is Canadian), and I use my green card at the global entry kiosk at the airport.  Given all of this, I suspect that if you obtained global entry now, you'd have to likely reapply/go through the global entry interview again when your n400 is approved and you receive your new US passport.

Not for sure about this, but I suspect this would be the case.

    UPDATE:

4853 North Broadway Chicago, IL 60640-3603 UCSIS Application Support Center is CLOSED permanently.

Please warn any of your friends/family members who are planning to go there... It is still coming up in all my searches on the google. Yelp, has reviews about it, and still shows open :( .

I took the time from my work just to get it done with my biometrics earlier, and went to this location. I found an abandoned mall store. My half of the day is gone, and I still do not have my biometrics done. In addition, here is a huge construction underway on Lawrence&Broadway, so just stay away...

There is once support center left in Chicago areas, and it is on Pulaski.

I only got my biometrics done in April and it was at the N. Broadway location.  I didn't realize it had closed in the time since then!   I apologize if I unintentionally led you astray with my feedback that they take walk-ins.  I assumed they were still open. I am so sorry you went through this hassle!!

Actually I live in Lincoln Park, so Broadway center is the best place for me. My original appointment is at Norridge, which is 1 hr driving.

I will try it on an afternoon as you suggested.  Thank you!

Thanks!! I did for my GC 5 years ago :) ,but some posts here states the center are now not very welcoming walk-ins ...

Which one did you go? On Broadway, Pulaski or Norridge?

I went to the one on Broadway and I believe I went around between 2 and 3 pm both times.  So well enough after the lunch time rush, and well in advance of closing.  It's possible that I got lucky; however, they were so friendly and didn't seem to mind that I showed up early.  I guess it couldn't hurt you try it ... unless of course, you live really far away.

Has anyone planning to do an early walk-in in Chicago Ucsis centers for their biometrics?

    Hi there,

I did an early biometrics in Chicago and had no issues.  I also went early biometrics for my green card renewal when I did that as well.  I had no issues either time.  I went in the afternoon and it wasn't busy either time so that may have helped.  For n400, I was scheduled for biometrics on April 26 or 27 (forget now), and went in on April 17th.  I ended up being placed inline for interview to be scheduled  on April 27th close to the original date of biometrics.

    Hope that helps!

I am not hopeful about Chicago. It looks like they are still processing February for interviews. That means March filers are not likely to finish their naturalization this year. It's frustrating to say the least.

Does anyone know when the next update of processing dates will occur on the sites?  At one point, it looked like the processing dates were updated every 2 weeks, but haven't seen an update since August 16 for the Chicago local field office.  I figure updated processing times would give us an indication of whether there's been a slow-down.

Hi everyone. Just came across this thread. My husband is a May 2017 filer so I really don't expect an interview until Nov or Dec. I just saw how some of you from 2016 just interviewed!! I didn't expect that long of a delay.

My brother-in-law is a Feb 2017 filer and he still doesn't have a interview.

This latest update on a Feb filer not having an interview yet makes me anxious!  I thought we were just waiting on the first March filers to get scheduled:(.  I just posted my latest updates on what I've learned on my case in the March filers thread.  Would love all of your thoughts on this:

My green card expired last week and I have some international travel coming up.   I had filed an I-90 renewal 3-4 weeks prior to n400 filing just to cover myself but now I find myself with an expired green card, and no interview date scheduled  for naturalization.  I set up the info pass appt with my field office (Chicago) to inquire about documentation needed for international travel given the expired green card (I already had an extension sticker on the back till December '17 but wasn't sure if I needed more).  I also inquired about my naturalization case and received the following info:

    • Background check cleared.
    • Case is still at NBC and hasn't been transferred to chicago office for interview scheduling
    • I was anxious about the fact that my case hadn't been transferred to the field office yet since I had been "in line" to be scheduled for an interview since April 27th.
    • IO indicated that sometimes the NBC schedules the appointments at the field office for Chicago.  He told me that their scheduling is usually quicker

I'm not sure what to make of this feedback given the longer timeframes I've seen or heard from other posters in other cities whose cases took longer in being being transferred to field offices.

Thoughts on what to make of this information?
