  1. I'm surprised that I missed this topic when originally posted.

    1. How long did it take? About 4-6 weeks because my husband had at least 2 offers at about week 4 but negotiations in salary tacked on a little more time before he started his job

    2. Profession? Analytics (big data) with an IT background and experience in IT but never looked for any IT gigs

    3. My husband is from India

    4. We are located in Dallas

  2. TexasHeartsIndia shared a good link in this thread.  Our experience with this issue is posted there.  I would not waste time with getting anything but what is asked for: A LEGIT BIRTH CERTIFICATE.  I mean, it's worth a shot but why risk delaying things, because that is what will happen if those other in lieu docs are not accepted and you are informed of it weeks later then have to go about getting the BC anyway?

That was our experience.  It was disheartening.

  3. Wow. My husband (from Delhi) was not asked anything about his family. He was asked about my two children. They are actually both adults. He was also asked about who proposed to whom, is there an engagement ring (there is not) and did we wear wedding rings (we don't).

His interview was less than 10 minutes.

Way different from what we read about the Delhi embassy prior to his interview.

  4. My husband took to the United States like fish to water and he never lived on his own nor did he drive. However, he had traveled to London, NYC, and Lagos for business. Plus, he visited me for 2 weeks in my city. He didn't homesick and has been here sunce July 3, 2016.

He got a great job in about a month. I taught him how to drive then he paid for one formal lesson. He got his DL pretty fast then bought a brand new car by September.

I think we're both lucky that he assimilated so well because I have read some worrisome stories on here.

My husband hasn't experienced any racism SO FAR. But we are in a big Texas city with a noticeable South Asian population.

    How old is your husband?

Has the NVC accepted the affadavit and school records? If so, why bother with a bc? We had to SUBMIT the bc to NVC to even get our NOA2.

My husband said it took about 4-6 weeks to get his bc, but he had to continuously keep going in person.

I dont understand my husband's explanation about bcs in India. All he says is he what more documentation does the Indian government need from your husband?
