  1. We are waiting for the birth certificate to arrive, we have a certificate of birth from the hospital but not the official on from the state, they say next week but who knows. From the consul's message they say that 1,5 months after I upload the birth certificate to the trave.gov eCRBA application. Anybody had success getting an expedited CRBA appointment date?
  2. Hello all! I'm a US citizen, my wife is about to become USC she had her appointment but we missed it due to child birth. I am currently panicking a little bit, because we are here in Tbilisi Georgia, our son was just born 2 weeks ago and seems we can't go back home quickly. I filled out an application on travel.gov to apply for CRBA, uploaded the docs, and they came back with an appointment date in the middle of May. This means we would have to be in Georgia for another couple of months if CRBA decision takes 3 4 weeks after the appointment. We were not at all expecting to be in Georgia for that long, is there another way? I read people applying for US Passport in US, I have my family there in US that can do the necessary visits to the passport office, etc, but is there any way? Any body had experience of how to contact the Embassy? Can I come in there in person to see if they can attend me? This is so strange that reporting birth is taking them so long. Do I need to write my congress-man-woman to get a more reasonable response instead of a 1,5 month in the future date?
  3. Thank you all for your replies! This helps a lot, I was getting worried that we won't be able to leave the country for 17 months while the N400 is processing, but sounds like that is not the case. Hopefully it wont be full 17 months, but still! Thank you all again!
  4. I recall reading some requirement that you can not leave the country while N400 is processing or in the last 6 month prior? We might need to urgently visit wife's family, Just want to make sure we can travel outside the US and not lose the N400 progress?
  5. Hello all! We just filed my wife's N400, we live in San Jose, so I'm guessing San Francisco office, we filed it online. Now it says 17 month wait, is that normal? does it usally take that long? Can we go outside of the country while they are processing? Please anybody with experience with this please reply!
  6. What is the criteria, we just don't want to be cocnsidered not being in the country for sufficient amount of time due to bunch of shorter 1 month trips during the year.
  7. Thank you for the responses! We were on several trips going back-n-forth, for a total of 3 months out of the country, but each trip ranging from 4-6 weeks. So as long as the trips are less than 6 months we should be ok then? The language of the rule is a bit confusing, it made me believe they are referring to away 6 month within 1 year, but thank you all for clarifying!
  8. My wife has a green card, and she had her finger prints taken for extension of status. We were out of the country for 3 months this calendar year. I know that the restriction is no more than 6 months out of the country, but is it during the Calendar year or counting from the 1 entry on immigrant visa into the country? Which would be May for us, so this can actually change the # of months out of the country. Does anybody know for sure, and have a link to official government guidance on how 6 months are calulated for the year? Thank you!
