Morocco specific question.
After a long wait we got an RFE asking for ... "a legible copy of the final irrevocable divorce decree signed by a judge or magistrate that shows proof of filing, that terminated the prior marriage between...." So it appears the divorce paperwork we submitted was not the official or final copy (although we really thought it was). Does anyone have a picture of a final divorce decree? Does this paperwork have a different name in Arabic?
Suchran.

This is the type of post that makes me wonder if the feds are lurking on these pages and posting. Good job with the brutal honesty VJers. This is a hard enough process and we don't need this type of foolishness messing up happiness for the rest of us.

Thank you for laying out a critical topic in such personal terms. There are many in this forum and in this country who do not see racism, xenophobia or hatred of Islam as an issue that seriously afflicts America. I doubt you will find encouragement from folks with those views. America is a great country with the capacity to get through its current strife, but right now it is painful to watch and experience the struggle.
You should be encouraged, sadly CEHEST is not the best place to get that support.
Thank you for your comments and I agree this is not the forum for this conversation (sadly).

Jenny, like RJandHamid, I'm here to help. While, there may be scams coming out of Morocco, there are also amazing and loving people. Lead with your heart and your head!
The K-1 visa process is a long, emotional rollercoaster. Ask lots of questions, read ALL the guides on VJ, and reach out when you need to vent. I'm looking at adjudication in the next 2-3 weeks ... after 100+ days waiting... and this is still very early in the process!

Is anyone on this page willing to talk about immigration in terms of the rampant xenophobia in this country? I can’t be the only one who struggles with talking to her black, Muslim, immigrant fiancé about race relations. It pained me to discuss interactions with the police. I cried telling him about a work reassignment due to Islamophobia. I’m also a Virginia resident and right now my state is dealing with acts of terrorism by white supremacists. My heart hurts. Yesterday there was a thread about pitchforks, torches, and frustration with USCIS. It was brushed off as a joke. I understand we are all stressed, lovesick, and more than a little on edge… but maybe I am looking to this page for compassion.

Good luck. Let me now what you find out about marriage timelines.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my frantic post. I went ahead and sent away for a quick and notarized translation. I will advise my fiancé that when it comes to the final interview step he will have to get them re-translated by an official translator n Morocco. Actually, I'll be back in Casablanca in July and can take care of it at them.

Hi all,
I received a frustrating email from our translator last night indicating he could not translate the papers because we needed to have an Embassy approved translator. That said, I have not read anything on this particular detail and this now puts us behind on our timeline. I had hoped to submit everything by May 1st (first step in K1). Please help and advise us. Does anyone have the name of an Arabic translator in the DC area?!?!
Here is his email:
I'm sorry that you mis-understood me when we met, that it is much better for you to get these docs translated by a translator who is approved by the US Embassy in Morocco. This will facilitate certifications & authentications for using them in Morocco & in the US. They would also be valid to use in courts anywhere.

I don't have anything to add, other than I am so sorry your finance went through this horrible treatment.
What does a final Moroccan divorce decree look like?
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures

It took place in Morocco. I just reread the paperwork and you may have hit on the answer. He needs to go back to court and get another paper since it has been past 90 days (actually it has been years).
