    Hello,

It look like you didn't get an answer to your question but thank you for posting and letting us know this is an issue.

I have some questions for you in hopes you can help me.

    1) What is your advice for filing the I-485 with the  Identity Certificates (Shenasnameh)?

    2) How did your second submitting turn out, did you get to the root of the problem?

We had an infopass appointment where we were essentially told some reviewing officers aren’t familiar with international birth certificates.... interesting since that’s their job! What I recommend is printing the Iran Reciprocity page from travel.state.gov showing that a Shenasnameh is the birth certificate for Iran. With the translated copy and the reciprocity printout, it was accepted.

Congrats.....would you mind sharing a little bit of your experience? questions? etc

Our interview lasted about 45 minutes and the interviewer was very calm. They asked many questions from the applications, the original forms were right in front of them, such as addresses, parents' names, etc. The only questions that surprised us were about his hometown and name, as they are very significant for his country and religion. We explained he is no longer religious and neither am I, which is something that drew us closer together. I recommend being over prepared with documents - we had a huge bag filled with documentation from our AOS application, wedding album, new evidence after marriage, etc and they seemed impressed.

They asked for our additional evidence and I handed them a stack of labeled papers including financial information, photos, etc but they didn't look at any of it except a Christmas card from my parents that included our marriage announcement on it. I suggest bringing evidence of your intertwined lives such as mail sent to both of you at an address, family greeting cards, etc.

We were approved on the spot after the interview and given a paper! Our online case status updated a couple of hours later.

Due to a travel emergency we got the green card stamp in my husband's passport after the interview in the Infopass area and are traveling to see his family on Thursday!! This was a many hours long ordeal however and not something anyone can do right after the interview. But it is possible.

  3. Great write-up! My husband was also on F-1 when we filed for AOS and it all looks good. I'd put the beneficiary birth certificate with the I-485, though.

Please cover the numbers at the bottom of your checks, as those contain your bank account number and allow scammers to withdraw money from your account. That, combined with your real signatures in the last image, is dangerous to have online.

    Hi

I was reading your post - so it seems that - in Q1 - i765 - we are "Permission to Accept" employment? or are we "renewal of my permission to accept employment?"

I am currently on a f-1 OPT that expires in Aug 2018. Not sure what to put for the first question! But I am completing my AOS Concurrent filing.

    Thanks!

I said renewal but with the C9 category. EAD came with a new a-number and was coded C9 indtead of the non-immigrant a-number and OPT code on my husband’s previous EAD. we were approved in 80 Days, I recommend saying renewal!

  5. We are getting a letter today!! I really hope it is an interview notice. It could be a response to our online case status inquiry though. Nothing has been updated on myUSCIS.

Today our congressperson’s office emailed us back. USCIS told them our case is waiting to be scheduled for an interview. Our case status has been stuck on RFIE received since April 19. Fingers crossed...

  6. For those of you who, like me, wonder why the processing times haven't updated since September 30 - they post all the data every 3 months in a very detailed spreadsheet, so we should expect an update after December 31:

If you click the first link, you can see how many applications each field office received, approved, denied, and still has pending. It makes me feel like I know a bit more about the reason it's been so slow for us.

Does anyone else in here have citizenship from a country impacted by the travel ban?

I suspect that the reason our case has not been transferred from the NBC to our local office yet is most likely due to that. At the past couple of infopass appointments, we were told it looks okay, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't have at least made its way to the local office yet, since our field office is processing i-485 cases as of January 10, 2017.

I also haven't received responses on the past two SRs (one filed in August, and one in November). They both recently got assigned to an officer for processing, but I have a feeling our case may be on hold indefinitely? Does anyone have any info or insight on this?

We have another infopass appt coming up, so we're hoping to get some clarification. But my husband is planning on traveling back to Iran over the holidays with the AP document, but now we don't know what's going to happen.

I’m in the same boat. Check out my post history if you want more details - no interview yet, but will be traveling soon on AP. Not too worried because the order has waivers specifically stated for AP, those who have been working and living in the IS, etc

    sooo...

impacts of the ban on current AOS pending applications, anyone have any info/insight on this?

I'm not here to argue about it, the fact of the matter is that it really sucks for everyone affected by it, we don't have the privilege to sit here and argue about it, it gets us nowhere. We're still affected whether we believe it's a "good" or "bad" decision.

We just need to know if we're on hold indefinitely and whether or not the AP is still good for traveling while the case is pending. I can't seem to find a clear, concise answer anywhere. Any help is appreciated!

We filed in March and still haven't had an interview or even case update at all since April, though my husband did get his EAD/AP in 80 days. We are traveling out of the country in a couple of months on his AP and will let you all know how it goes. I'm not too worried because the language of the order says AP granted before the ban can be honored, but it is sad that his family cannot easily visit us.

Other AOS cases at my field office had interviews months ago and filed at the same time as us, but at our InfoPass appointment they told us Iranians are not going slower than others. Trying to be patient but it's hard. They never responded to our online case status inquiry from October 3 so our congressman's office is inquiring for us this week.

  12. My husband is from Iran and we don't have an interview yet but we are not letting that stress make us too bitter. When processing times for our office were updated, they moved backward by a month :( My main worry is if he has to re-do his medical exam, because if it takes more than a year we have to pay again. Other than that, we are traveling in January to meet his family on AP and I won't let fear bring us down. If he gets denied entry I will worry about that then, but for now we are enjoying the fact that he is here with me and able to live and work.

Regarding the fact that non-K1 filers are here, there's no March or April filers thread for AOS from student/tourist visa forum, so this is the best place to check progress for us.

  13. Hi all,

My Iranian husband lives in the US with me as we wait for our adjustment of status. He needs to renew his passport because we are traveling on advance parole in a few months (not to Iran). There is a section for married or single, and it asks for the spouses name and some ID information (shenasnameh number). In Iran marriages have to be certified by a clergyman and added to your records to be considered legitimate. Will he have trouble if he just writes married and my name if our marriage is not registered in Iran?

Thanks! We can't find information about this anywhere.

I'm also traveling at the end of December and trying not to worry too much. I had the same concern of having our interview scheduled while we will be away but I don't think it's likely in my case since we are April filers (sent our package end of March and it was received in April, which is why I followed both threads :D ) . I was hoping to ask is there some kind of form where you provide attorney contact information or is just in case they ask for it and you provide it? Thanks in advance and good luck :) Hopefully all of us waiting will receive positive news by end of January. :)  Also, I see you reside in California, is your local office in the bay area? SF is moving pretty slow. :(

There’s no form for attorney information but I want to have it in our phones just in case we have to call someone if there is an issue upon reentry! Our local office is in Southern California, the cases are taking about 9 months according to the online processing times

  15. We had our infopass appointment today and it was really good news! The officer told me I worry too much (very true) and that Iranians are not taking longer than anyone else. He said our case is just waiting to be scheduled for an interview and there is a large backlog due to many applications recently. Our status has been on RFIE received since April and we have called and put a service request online, but neither time did they tell us any of this information.

We also asked about traveling internationally and what would happen if our interview is scheduled for a time we are gone. He said we can request a new interview if that happens. We have an international trip scheduled for January, I know others wouldn't risk it, but he has AP and the travel ban says people who already have re-entry visas are OK. We are willing to take the risk, I haven't heard of any Iranian spouse with advance parole being denied entry, but we will have attorney contact information in case there is an issue.
