Hey guys, I got my notice for my I-485 interview for March 1st & after reading through the recommended evidence for ongoing relationship I started to panic a bit.

Due to SSA messing me around, I never got my SSN so most things I could never get.

So far aside from photos from our wedding ceremony in California (we had our actual wedding a few months before this at the courthouse to stay within the 90 days)… I’ve been able to be added as an authorized user to my husbands credit card & we have a Sam’s club membership together.

He’s going to be talking to his work on Monday about a possible loop hole they may have managed to find to get me on his health insurance (it’s not open enrolment) so that’s a possibility!
Our lease isn’t due for renewal until after the appointment date so I cant be added to that in time to use it as evidence either.

Is there any other ideas you guys have that I could use? Or do you think these things will be enough?

I did check off for USCIS to apply for SSN for me due to not being able to get one in time, so I’m hoping they’d be understanding that most things require an SSN to be added to (eg bank accounts, car insurance, bills etc)

Relax, don't panic. I had the same experience years back. I have nothing to show except wedding pictures and some other family and friends events picture. My husband spoke mostly during the interview by letting the officer know I can't be added to anything without any proper form of identification and SSN. Just be honest and truthful. By noon that day, I was approved for my AOS.

The context was a naturalized citizen filing to adjust status for a child.

Generally when the adjustment of status is approved the, child becomes a U.S. citizen.  However there are several conditions. One of which is evidence of legal custody.  A marriage certificate between both parents of the child (as listed on the child’s birth certificate) is strong evidence of legal custody.  “Filiation” is not relevant to my point.

When the child is born out of wedlock and parents remain unmarried,  legal custody is harder to prove.  When the parents remain unmarried and when the naturalized parent is the father, “filiation” evidence is more difficult as well.

I would appreciate not being quoted on this thread as my opinions on the virtue of a timely filing of a N-600 were maligned and thus I made it clear I would no longer follow this thread.

Thank you Mr Mike. I want to start by appreciating your contributions into this topic. You and many others have done a great help to me and my daughter with the knowledge you guys have on AOS

About the marriage certificate thing. I am divorced with my daughter's mom since 2016. So I think I only need to submit the divorced decree or please guys let me know if otherwise.

    Thanks to y'all.

    Additional tips:

    * You will need your marriage certificate to prove she is your child.  If you were not married it gets complicated

    * she will need her birth certificate. Your name  needs to be on  the birth certificate. It needs to match your name on your naturalization certificate or your birth certificate

    * proof of legal custody: simplest is a marriage certificate if not divorced.

    * proof of physical custody: school records showing she lives at the address you live and tax records showing you live at the address she lives at

Thanks. I really appreciate this. So what are the forms needed to file? I know I will have to submit i-130, i-485, is there any other forms?

This morning I had my oath ceremony in Baltimore MD. Here's my experience.

Per the notice, it was at 8:30 AM, and while it says that they let you in 30 minutes prior, we were only allowed to go thru security at 8:15 AM.

Post security we were directed to a room and 2 officers were sitting at a desk. They asked us to hand over the notice, and the old greencards and all. Then they confirmed that all the details on the notice questionnaire were accurate and that there were no changes to it.
Then they showed us the certificate and we were asked to confirm that there's no errors. Following that, we were asked to take a seat, given a flag and an information package (passport form etc.)

Once everyone was checked in, the officer gave a short speech about the importance of the day. Then he asked us to stand up, raise the right hand and recite the oath of allegiance. And that was it !
After we were done, the other officer distributed the naturalization certificates and stressed on the importance of confirming the details on the certificate and signing it with Black ink only, otherwise it will be $555 and 1 year ! We were asked to leave the building and make sure that the details were correct and then sign the certificate when we are home....

An end to a journey ! Now onto new ventures !

    Congratulations...

Went for my interview today, and walked out of the building a Citizen. I guess they were running a recurring oath ceremony at the Lawrence MA field office today. They would wait till the oath room filled up then give the ceremony, and let it clear out and then continue.

Interview was pretty straight forward, though they had to go take a copy of my passport. I thought i had included that already in my packet.

    Congratulations!

  7. I had my N400 interview today. Thank God everything went well. No documents were asked except for ID, GC and Passport. The whole thing lasted for about 12-15minutes. And by the time i stepped out of the building, my online status has changed to oath ceremony will be scheduled. To all awaiting this great day, it will surely come. Sit back and relax your time is near. Thanks to everyone here on this forum sharing ideas and tips. One love

we did show some recent papers for our marriage related, like our house title, recent bank statements and an electric bill.

For N400 part, he wanted to see my green card and drivers license. we did have interview in his office, so we wore masks all the time, there was an Ipad in the room, I read and wrote on that ipad for the English writing and reading part.

Thank you for the quick response. So you had a pending interview for I-751? I am only curious because I only have interview for N400 and would want to know if i would need any additional documents to go with. Thanks once again.

    Hi there,

I passed the Interview on 16Feb2021 it was in the afternoon (3:30 completed), they called me next day morning so I went back the next day to take an Oath (1:00PM). Orlando FL office.

In short, I had a pending i751 too, they didn't let her in first then the IO asked me to go get her, I called her and security let her in.

He did ask her few questions about out marriage, my details and things about our child also. They knew a lot of stuff and even knew about her parents. My IO was a retired from Army so are my in-laws. Maybe that is the reason he knew about them or asked about it.

He told her to sit quiet and sit on a chair behind the one I was sitting and he started asking me questions about the N400. He asked civics questions as well as the yes/no answers.

By the time, we got done, he had not heard from his supervisor about the I751, so he didn't approve my N400 that time. It was approved later that afternoon though and as I said they called me next morning to take on Oath on 17February. I applied for my passport on 17Feb21 and once I get that, I will have to renunciate my Indian citizenship. I am done with USCIS, but I still have a lot of paperwork to do :) thanks for checking on me

Please I want to ask what documents was asked from you during the N400 interview.
