You are entitled to IR-1 status if you enter after the 2 year anniversary of your marriage. There are a handful of cases where the CBP officer would stamp it incorrectly (which is not an issue) or even get a wrong card in the mail. If the wrong card is received, you can get it fixed with no fee (albeit it there's a long wait to get the fixed card, but that's mostly just an annoyance).

Thanks so much.....really appreciate you taking time to explain.

  2. Hi VJ members, please can someone help me with their experience with entering with a cr1 visa few days to a week after 2 years marriage anniversary. I intend to go a few days or at least a week after our 2years anniversary.....will the CBP officer issue me with CR1 or IR1 and will telling the officer politely and showing our marriage cert. make any difference......your experiences and advice will be truly cherished.  Thankyou

  3. Quality and quantity is the deal....had my interview on Tuesday,  my whatsapp chats and call logs came up to about 200 pages... but I think those evidence are secondary....@my interview I saw people with tons of papers and photo albums, made me feel inadequate,  but they were denied....since I was the last but one person for the day.....not saying they were denied because of those but think of adding evidences that can't be easily manipulated.....such as joint accounts, joint properties etc.

  4. Hi......please can someone assist me with information, especially from my fellow Ghanaians who have had their medical and interviews recently. How much does it cost?

How long does it take to get results? Between Holy Trinity and Akai house which one would you recommend and which one of them does the entire medical and vaccinations at their premises without having to go elsewhere  for x-rays. Thanks for your help

    Hello Everyone...

So we received our case completed from NVC on September 27, 2017 to date we have not had our interview scheduled.  I have followed the case to complete spreadsheet but it appear only those with a case complete in August have been scheduled for an interview.  Does anyone have any updates plsssss.  Thanks you xoxo

Your wife, as the agent, should receive an email from the NVC with the invoice for the affidavit of support. I just made my payment over the weekend and it's $120. I guess after then, you have to wait for them to process the payment before you can start with the IV Processing.

And just to add to this......go to the CEAC website for your status check, you will need your case number for that....NVC will update your status and give you the necessary information and direction on what to do next

You have to wait for your case # etc from NVC after they send you a letter with that info they send your application to the embassy. Then the embassy is supposed to send a letter with further instructions. But a lot of the VJ members in Ghana are not getting those letters.

Thanks for the reply.....all the very best for your interview.

You can get the police report no problem. It is valid for 6 months and I do believe that you need to get one from SA too. But, I am not 100% sure about that.

For the medical you will need to have your confirmation page from scheduling your appointment. If your case has been sent to Ghana from NVC you can schedule your appointment yourself before you get the letter. The letter the embassy sends from Ghana is only informational. Just go online and fill out the DS-160 application. When you finish it will give you a confirmation code. You will need that to go to GT Bank to pay the visa appointment fee. One you have paid that you can schedule your appointment online with the embassy and get your medical done. But, you first have to have your receipt confirmation code and DS-160 code before you can schedule. Hope this helps! Goodluck!

I am sorry to deviate from the current discussion but I have read on this forum that, after your case is sent to department of state, you need to call NVC for a case #, scan date and identification #.....is that necessary? and what are they for? Or I just wait for the letter with instructions.....your help will be much appreciated. Thanks
