  1. Well, we were waiting for consular schedule and what we got is a nice list of what is missing from the checklist, apparently my wife, who has lived in Spain for the last 15 years, and has not worked in the US,  needs to complete affidavit of support I-864 too along with tax returns, W2 etc.  as co-sponsor along with her Sister, who is actually the person supporting us as none of us have a job there right now.

Also, they are asking for a bank account (no problem) and a proof of residence, (15 ye-ars-in-Sp-ain) thank god she still has the rent contract in her name but... they need proof of domicile and the bank statement and the lease have her name and address on them.

Well, I wanted to ask if any other American living abroad and returning home with husband/wife knows something about these things or also had to file as a co-sponsor too.

For instance, how can you have a w2 when you don’t even work in the US?

For those poor souls still waiting from January, we finally got our NOA2 in the post on 22nd December 2017. Our PD was 25th January 2017 and the approval date was the 15th December 2017. Almost an entire year for the first part to be completed. Merry Christmas!

Pffffff, more than 2 months of difference with us, we got NOA2 Oct 12/PD 01-23... Anyway, I'm happy for you.

The paradox is that now we are slowing down this happy and colourful trip through the American Bureaucracy as we are moving the whole family on Jun 30, so to have to fly on, let's say, Jun 15 just to comply with the deadline was a bit stupid. Probably they don't think that, in case of families, a delay of 3-4 months means actually a full (scholar) year...

Happy New Year, and good luck to all

Any January filers still waiting for the NOA2? Still waiting since January 25th. Everyday is a disappointment of late. :(

    Stats:

    Married: 22/12/2012

Me: American citizen (born and raised)

    Spouse: Irish citizen

Family: Daughter turns 4 in February; living in Ireland since 2012 (Thailand and South Korea prior to that)

Applied: 25th January 2017 (Nebraska - aka purgatory)

So bizarre. We got snail mail NOA2 on Oct-20, our PD is Jan-23...

Anyway, we are not paying a lot of attention to this bore since we decided to wait for the next summer to move in order to let the girls living in Spain for another year (culture, idiom, blah, blah)

    I would call them, definitely.

    Good luck.

    noa1 jan 6th

    noa2 oct 3rd

    Nebraska center

Never got an email although I filled in the papers to be notified over email...received letter of approval yesterday thru regular mail.

Are there any things that can be done now whilw waiting for NVC to contact us what we need?

Can u please update your timeline, VJ algorithm uses that info to calculate automatically other members timelines, what you write doesn't go to the database, what you click on your timeline does...

Thanks a lot. And good luck for next steps...

Just wanted to say AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! What the #### is up with Nebraska? Are those corn-fed arseholes not able to think clearly due to all the high fructose corn syrup pumping through their veins? I've seen Potomac applicants being approved from April. This is absolutely insane.

That's all for now. :) Much love to you people. We're going to have to move to a weed-friendly state upon arrival just to cope with the post-traumatic stress of dealing with Nebraskans. ;)

    NOA1 25th January (US Citizen/Irish Spouse/Daughter with dual-US/EIRE citizenship)

Right in the same situation... US Citizen/Spanish spouse/7 yrs old twins, US-ESP citizenship...

And the whole family waiting to move since January because with twin toddlers we need both parents at home...

    It is what it is...

In the form I-864 you are supposed to inform where you have your domicile and if you have address where you live and so. They say that they consider the circumstances of your situation when you send in the form. But how are you doing in that case?

We used the same address we recorded in the form I130, (Question #18: Address in the United States where your relative intends to live.)

Good to know. My husband is a born US citizen, but he has been living in Sweden for the last 30 years, (he is 53yrs). He filed taxes for the last four years so that would not be a problem I think. His parents still lives there and we are using his fathers address as a place to stay to begin with.

Same situation. Living together in Spain for long. My wife filed the last 3 years in a row, no problems.

Our priority date is Jan 23. Nebraska.

I am not calling you a liar? I simply said I feel like this is false hope to Nebraska filers, as it is strange that they have said you have been approved and still had no evidence of it. My doubt is with the service centre not your comments.

Of course I hope what you have been told is true and we start seeing some NOA2 as we have all been waiting forever and a day just to be able to be with our loved ones.

I apologise for any confusion in my comment, my doubt is not with you it's with the slowwww awful service centre we have been blessed with 😒

I know it's being a torture. The guy at the counter was very nice with us, he said our case was reviewed by USCIS and approved, (when??) but we must wait for Nebraska to send the resolution to NVC and this to process the case and contact contact with us. He also said that Nebraska is the biggest service center, hence the processing times.

We left the office and went to have an ice cream with the girls, we where happy for the news, but we don't now anything else.

Sorry for my comment, we are in some stress with this, despite we live all together in Spain while most of you are separated from your loved ones, I can't imagine such situation.

As soon as we get any advance we'll keep you updated.

I'm confused as to why you are in line to receive NOA2, surely if it has been approved it shouldn't take over a month just to receive NOA2. Does your case say it has been approved on the USCIS case tracker? I feel like this is false hope for us Nebraska filers 😔 Praying to hear something soon as we are now 220 days in!

I feel like this is false hope for us Nebraska filers.

Sorry????. I told the facts, and what happened to me when asked about info with my case number, you can believe it or not.

Ok. I finish this conversation, despite my good intentions It was not a good idea, definitely.

    Good luck.

  10. Immigrating to the States is long since it is a salvation destination for many people from the economic point of view, but especially long in these times of world insecurity when countries must know with the utmost confidence who is entering their borders, The criminal records no longer indicate anything, just look at the events that have happened in Europe in recent years.

If my daughters go to live in that country, I prefer a safe country rather than a country that lets in a possible terrorist.

Finally, but not least, you and I are immigrating to a country that gives us the opportunity to start again. I do not think it is a good attitude to criticize the country that welcomes you because the process takes a long time, I have been 48 years living outside the United States, I will not die because I have to wait another year.

    Good luck to all.

  11. Now on holidays in the USA. Here is our  "Must See list":

    Any USCIS office

    Any NVC office

Nebraska Service Center in Lincoln, NE, (just to take some pics of the place we'll be ranting about for the next months)

    Example:

Me with NSC and a cup of cold coffee (no need to explain why the coffee is cold)

Me with NSC in the background holding a (cold) Hot Dog  and making some funny faces and saying some obscene words while linking the hot dog to the NSC

Me with NSC in the background, and with a stray dog with permanent resident permit that looks to mock at me with evident insolence

    and so...

Happy holidays, we don't expect anything until September, so no stress...

    :D

I'm not sure those dates and estimates are relevant anymore... they keep changing and going up and down.

Texas was at mid JAN a couple days ago, now it's back to late DEC !

The frustration is borderline unbearable... I'm starting to think that I won't be able to move in with my husband this year  :-/

I don't expect to have my residence until December or even January 2018, but I'm in Nebraska, that Gulag where files wander sadly for months and months between moans and sighs... :)
