We had out interview on the 19th of October. Everything went fine but the agent indicated she could not approve anything and her supervisor would need to (appeared to be a new employee as she said she worked in the IRS prior). Appears for Baltimore if you don't get an approval within a week it takes about 2-3 months. Anyone else from October or earlier still waiting?
Hey! Sorry for such a late response. I had my interview on October 30th and still haven’t heard anything. I’m hoping you have had better news than me by now!

Hi everyone!
Thank you in advance for answering my frustrating tax question and giving me some reassurance. I want to double check I am a resident alien and can file taxes online as MFS with my wife. We are MFS to avoid massive student loan payments.
I moved to the USA on a K1 visa on December 28th 2017. I didn’t earn any US income, we didn’t get married in 2017, I didn’t file taxes.
I was resident in the USA during 2018 for 349 days (16 day trip back to the UK excluded) and got my EAD card in July. I started work in August where my employer did a substantial presence test which deemed me a resident alien.
Am I correct in assuming:
1. I’m a resident alien and pass the substantial presence test.
2. I can file MFS.
3. I don’t need to file on paper because I am not choosing to be a RA. Therefore, I don’t have to fill out a special election statement.
4. I do need to check and declare any foreign income, which I don’t think I had any as I didn’t work in the UK or earn any interest.
Am I missing anything when I consider this tax process?
Many many thanks in advance!

Hi All,
My interview was on the 30th of October in the Baltimore office for spousal green card. How much time does it take for getting the decision after the interview. We (and our lawyer) felt the interview was pretty smooth.
Hey! I had my interview in Baltimore on the same day and felt it went smoothly too. I haven’t heard anything yet, I’m hoping you may have?

I've seen this happen so many times it's ridiculous. I'm expecting an RFE for the same thing now. English to English... like wth. Can I ask if it was particularly hard to read or anything?
In my opinion (which I realise other people may not share), it's not hard to read and I've asked family and friends who agree with me. It is hand written in cursive at times, which is the only place I could see someone getting confused.
I'm getting a friend to transcribe the birth certificate and sign it like a translation, attaching a letter to state it's in English already, providing another copy of the long form certificate and a copy of the "birth" page from my red baby book... so fingers crossed it's okay.

Happy to join everyone here in waiting. Our package was received on the 11th Feb, with our NOA1 coming on the 24th. We received an RFIE today which asked for a translation of my British birth certificate. There have been other people on the website that have been asked for translations of a BC that is already in English so we will follow the suit of others with this and reply to the RFIE on Monday (which happens to be the day of my biometrics appointment!).

Hey! An update here. I tried to call Dr Steinberg a couple of times and her number is disconnected, so she may not be practising anymore, although I'm not sure. I called around and found that most Maryland Civil Surgeons want to do a full medical and refuse a vaccination transcription.
I did find...
Dr. J Anchors
16220 Frederick Road Suite 210
Gaithersburg MD 20877
301-990-6061
They've said they'll charge $60 for the transcription only. I'll update once I've been!
Sorry this is late - Dr Anchors and his sister who runs the office were brilliant and only charged $30 for the transcription. They knew what they were doing and have the cutest office.

Thanks, everyone. Much appreciated.

I entered the US on a K1 visa on the 29th December and wasn't married before the year end. My spouse will file as single for the last tax year but do I need to file or shall I wait until next year?
Sorry if this is a ridiculously stupid question.

Just wanted to add that Polly Steinberg is still operating out of Bethesda in MD.
4905 Del Ray Ave #302,
Bethesda
MD, 20814
301-907-9550
She has a slightly strange but great sense of humor (she told me I was too old to be walking around with a book bag lol) and is very accessible. As others have said she answers her own phone. Only note I would add is that she only takes cash so be prepared for that.
When I went (Tuesday 28th March 2017) I paid $30 for the transcript and $60 for a blood test as I had to have one to check my immunity for MMR as my records didn't show I had it (even though I had - not Dr. Steinberg's fault). I had the results of the blood test and all the paperwork sorted first thing Thursday 30th March that same week.
She also told me I needed a flu shot but she was out of them so told me to go to a Minute Clinic in CVS. My insurance covered that so it didn't cost me.

Hi all,
I'm calling on you for a bit of help. I'm trying to ship one medium box of fragile items (too much for my suitcases) using form 3299. I can't seem to find a company who know what they're talking about when it comes to accepting the form and the copy of the passport/K1 visa.
Did anyone else use the form successfully with a UK company? I'm happy to drive to a location to drop off and I leave on Thursday.
Thanks!

Hi all. I had my interview today and was approved (so exciting!) but the original I-134 that my fiancé completed was handed back to me. Is this normal? Apologies if this has been answered before but I can't seem to find anything and for some reason I feel anxious about it.
Thanks in advance :-)

Hey! I had the same issue during my interview. It was explained to me that they didn’t have the correct “copy” of the K1 petition and they had to request it from the service center. It did take us a while to get approved after our interview, but that may be because Baltimore is notorious for taking a few months, rather than because of this issue.
Your wife can definitely travel on her EAD/AP card after your interview. I did and I was completely fine! It doesn’t lose its validity.
Hope this helps, and please hang in there! I got my approval notice today and had the best moment with my wife - we are finally done (for now!).
