  1. After nearly 2 years of nonsense tomorrow we finally go for our interview, although we only found out about it last week

To make things worse our lawyer just called to say we have been unfortunate and have the worst Immigration officer in Los Angeles, apparently the Lawyers call this woman 'The Dragon' now I am worried, although I have everything together for the interview...

Wish us luck, again thanks to EVERYONE who has helped me with silly questions over the past 2 years

  2. Just logged on to the USCIS site and seen I had a touch today, but when I try and click into it to see what it is, if anything at all, It just checks the box next to the receipt number and won't open....anyone had this before?

Maybe its just USCIS are still in there

You are not alone... It's being happenning for 4 days already.

Ah I just right clciked and opened in different page and it opened....no change though to what it says!

  3. OK, so I called the helpline and asked can they look into my case as it is way out of the processing time, received a letter today telling me to make an InfoPass as they need more information on our case, althoughthey do not tell me what information they need? I went to an InfoPass a few weeks ago and they told me they could give me no further information as my application is still at National Benefits Center...

Anyone had anything like this before, seems strange that I have to take another day off work to go to InfoPass to tell them they need more information but I don't know what, after they told me nothing when I went 3 weeks ago :crying:

  4. How can I find the 'approximate' waiting time on case status if my I-485 application is still in the benefits centre after almost a year. Had Infopass and they told me NOTHING except its pending and all IOs are currently working on naturalisation before the election.

I tried looking online bit NVC doesn't have a time for AOS

  5. Time to call congressman. Thats a generic answer they gave me, congressman can really help!

How would you go about asking the congressman for help, I have no idea who ours is or how to go about it, getting to the poin tnow where someting has to be done

Thanks alot, I found out who the congressman was on there, will give his office a call and hopefully someone can help. Can't see what they can do though with it just stuck as pending. Never hurts to try though!

  6. Went for an InfoPass in Los Angeles on Friday, my appointment was for 8:15 and never got my number called until 11:30ish.

I went regarding my AOS with NOA date 10/1/2007 after waiting there that time when I finally get to speak to somebody they tell me that they have no information it is still in the National Benefits Center and not to expect anything until after the election as they have all been pulled to do Nationalisation cases.

Applied to renew my work permit and guess I just have to wait......sucks though when you see people who apply 6 months later get their interview :-( Im not hating on those people just wish ours would come too

  7. Hello everyone,

A quick question, as some of you already know I am currently still waiting for my AOS (I-485) from a K1 Visa (married a USC) with an NOA date of Oct 2007. My EAD is set to expire on 11/15/2008 and I was thinking it was time to renew my I-765. Question is, what process do you go through to renew, will I have to do fingerprints etc again and should I get it in time if I post the renewal say over the weekend, do you still wait 3 months for renewals or is it quicker when they have given you one in the past. Basically is it slightly different than the original application.

Sorry that was a little more than a quick question, but any information would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks,

    David

  8. Why should I have gone to the cancelled interview....this whole process is a joke

Yeah you should've gone to your canceled interview as some people got denied for not showing up.

    Make an Infopass right now!

Make sure you take your notice that your initial interview sched was canceled.

    You are joking!!!

They surely cannot deny you for them sending a letter saying they cancelled it.....That is ridiculous!!!!

I have kept all there correspondance so hopefully it won't come to that!

  9. Ok our NOA1 was October 2007, we got schedueled for an Interview in July and then it was cancelled and have heard nothing since.

Is it normal to be waiting this long....called our lawyer and they said they expect interview anytime now, although they have been saying that for a while now.

Also my Empl authorisation runs out in November, when should I start considering renewing that and how do I go about it?

    Any help guys

  10. You need to look at your field office for processing time.

    Look it up here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of....office_type=LO

And then look here for time: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp

You may want to add your field office to your profile:

    Hey Yu or Dan

It seems their only processing for August 19th, so maybe I shouldn't pannick just yet

Just with previous dilema I get scared easily at USCIS iccompetance!

Thank you and profile updated

  11. Hello!

I have a friend who is looking to come to the USA on a working visa to join me in California,

Thing is he got a conviction for affray in his youth, it is now over 5 years old and is whats known as spent!

In the past he has been accepted for a 10 year tourist visa, would this stop him getting a working visa in the future?

Any advice would be great thanks!

    Im guessing the H1-B

  13. Well got the letterthrough giving the reason why I was denied.

It was because they said they sent me an RFE (never recieved) asking for the $70 for it. I went in and paid the fee on day number 88, it apparently had to be paid by day 87, how convenient and suspect!!! They said at time of letter (21st Aug) they had not received payment of Biometrics, even though I paid it 18th July and have a receipt as well as my finger print results back, so who has the $70 if not them?...

Got to see lawyer now and possibly re-apply, pain in the #######!

  14. Hubby received his biometrics appointment letter with a case number on it. I haven't bothered to enter it into the USCIS system yet because it's likely that it's not been inputted yet.

But how can I tell if it's for AOS or EAD? Might we have to go twice?

Doesn;t it actually say on the letter, if they take just one finger its EAD if they take all prints it's AOS. This is were my case all went wrong with Bio fee's etc

    Good luck!

  15. Hi again everyone, Just wanted to give you a update, who knows maybe my story can help someone else down the line. WE have contacted a lawyer and have a appointment on Thursday....Another 2 hour drive to Sacramento :crying: Also the lawyer did tell my husband over the phone that his H1B Visa is still valid until the date on it which is October 1st. The reason for this is that he filed for I 765 through marriage so it did not void his visa in anyway!! Hurray that means he is not out of status and it gives us time now to fix our other problems. So I guess all we can do is go to the lawyer and hope that she can tell us something. She said she is going to try to get ahold of our case or find something out before we have our appointment. So I guess wish us luck and I will let everyone know what happens on Thursday. Again thanks for all the help and concern. Take care everyone.

    Melissa

Hey Melissa, We are in the exact same situation here, woke up this morning to find out I have been denied, no idea why and just have to wait now for the letter that may never arrive! I had to take a 2nd Bio as I never paid for it first time around and didn't realise, but that was paid over a month ago now and I have a receipt of them, also at Infopass they said my fingerprints were OK'd. So confused as to why they have denied us and feel at my wits end now, no idea what to do next, I am just praying they don't seperate us again, Amie has been very upset that I will be kicked out....

Let me know what the lawyer tells you if its not too much trouble, cheers

  16. This also happened to another poster recently.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83693

Sounds the same, although I came here on a K1, cannot think of why we would be denied. I have been on 5 infopass' and they kept telling me everything was going OK, so I am stumped. Going to have to get get a lawyer etc now and dont have no money to really pay for it. This whole process has been a nightmare, Just don't want to have to be seperated from my wife again :help:

  17. I have just received the email I have been waiting for for 4 months saying a decision has been made, I called the info line put in my case number and was told I have been denied and have to wait for letter to see why. I am absoloutley sick and gutted, I cannot see why they would deny me. Earliest Infopass isnt for a week either.

Anybody know what we can do now, I am really just amazed by this decision :crying:

P.S does anybody know any good cheap Immigration lawyers in LA area) or how to find and contact your local congressman, cheers
