  1. Hi everybody! :D

I am a newbie here @ VJ but have read some of your posts and stories for some time. I have a question, I recently got the NOA2 saying that my case was sent to the NVC. I have seen that some people know when NVC received their cases. I am just curious on how to get that information, if they send it to you or if I need to call. What an agony this whole process is, isn't it? :(

Thanks much and also wish you luck in this journey!

I would say that it's pretty much up to you on how you want to go about figuring out if they recieved your petition. You can either call them or email them, however I must say that if you are one of the petitioners that they are taking their sweet time with....it's devastating to call everyday only to hear that they haven't recieved your petition. You never know you might be lucky and it might only take them a couple of days, but if youre like me and some other VJer's here...it might take any where between 2weeks to 6weeks. In any case you will get a letter when they send your file to the consulate.

  2. Hey my fiance traveled Havana to Cancun and from Cancun POE Miami. He didn't need to check with embassy or anything like that since he had same day ticket, just marked in transit on his paperwork.

We did this to travel together and to avoid the super waiting list for direct flights. He purchased his ticket from the Mexicana office en La Rampa, 2 days before his flight. He bought Havana Cancun Miami all together, for a very very reasonable price (can't remember exactly) much cheaper than my estimate though!!!! When he got on the plane to Cancun, they took his passport and exiting the plane they escorted him to an immigration office where they asked him all kinds of questions, formed tremenda intriga with the sealed manila immigration envelope that says to only be opened by an US immigration officer not valid if opened. They really really wanted to open, could barely read the warning stamp so thought it was something terroristic or who knows what!!! Then he was escorted to the Mexican window where he checked in for his next flight much later that afternoon and was escorted through security to wait near the gate. Once on the plane to Miami they returned his documents to him. He entered in Miami with no problems.... but that airport is an absolute zoo, it was crazy!!!!!!

So I hope that answers your question.

Another piece of advice that will possibly speed up your wait for his permisso de salida and make it more cost effective. Is if he leaves Cuba temorarily instead of definitively he doesn't have to pay for the medical or the carta blanca. You would do this by getting a letter of invitation so to the Cuban government he is going to visit not permanently immigrate. This letter costs $150 and can be obtained in person and possibly through fax. The other benefit is this way won't lose all his rights to citizenship if wants to maintain them. Although this would involve not being away for more than 11 months and he would be subject to the torture of the exit visa each time he wants to leave Cuba, although they say it gets easier........

Anyway hope this info is useful to you!

Great reply, however i'm still a little confused about the letter of invitation....are you saying doing that instead of doing the K1 visa...how does that work???? Thanks in advance

  3. Yes you can use a middle country, but you need to look at what your SO needs to do to get a visitors, or transit visa to that middle country. Visit the embassy web sites of the middle country to find out.

One other thing, look for flights from Cuba to Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is also a POE for the USA.

Very true. My wife POE was Miami from Cali, Colombia and it was a very smooth and easy POE.

    Peter Miami

thanks for the Replies, however there are no straight flights from Cuba to Puerto Rico..crazy right. I think I will look into him getting a transit visa...uuuuhhhh. Thanks for the Help, also if anyone has experience with CUBA k-1 please let me know your take on this.

    Peace

  4. Hello Everyone, I just wanted to know for those of you that are buying your tickets for your Fiance to come home, what are the POE cities that the K-! beneficiaries are allowed to travel through. My love will eventually be travelling out of Cuba but there are no straight flights from CUBA to other US cities besides Miami....heres the problem...the waiting list to get on that flight is so long and I've heard of people waiting sometimes up to 2 months after having their visas to get on that flight straight to Miami  . So my question is can we use a middle country like the Bahamas or Mexico (cancun) so he can get a straight flight into California. Will he have to get a visa to travel through these third countries?? THANKS IN ADVANCE

  5. THANKS FOR THIS POST!!! You know i'm in the same boat, I was approved on 9/19 and I keep calling the computer voice of doom to find out about my case and NOTHING, I also spoke with a NVC worker last week and they also said that they recieved nothing. You know I think i'm going to go on a NVC calling strike because everytime I call them I just get so upset. I think I'm just going to wait till Friday to call (if I can hold out that long), but this process is JUST SO EMOTIONALLY DRAINING. I should be thankful though because I was approved very very fast, but it still plays with your mind. Take care everyone and have a great week!!

  6. Thanks so much for adding in that information about the forms, we are now in the waiting stages also, and it's good to know that they are asking people to use the form from the superpacket, i'm just going to send my fiance the forms filled out and I will have him fill them out again from the forms that they send him from the superpacket, kinda wierd but thats how it is over there ha ha. I also had a question, I also know people in the medical world over there because I study medicine there, Who should I talk to about expediting his medical checkup when he recieves the super packet, does he have to go to the places that they list?? and can we start earlier? Any info would be great, thanks

  7. Hello to all of my Cuban love people, I just wanted to know from those of you with the CUBAN experience if the embassy will call notifying that the packet is ready or do we have to intervene from here???I'm so confused how all of this will work out, and my second question is when will I be able to make the appt for my fiance??? Thanks in advance....

    love

  8. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!! I must say that it was hard reading that especially when there are those of us here wating for a response...and it's harder for me because I'm pregnant..just praying that we will have the same speediness. Anyways, Yes I think your best bet is to just scheduele your interview for later...however...why? I think that with all of the changes going on politically in the world, it would behoove you to try and just get this thing over with and bring your love to you. You just never know what changes could go on, and if they could add more delays. I say better early than late..but it's up to you because it's true that the presence of the inlaws is important. Can you have two ceremonies...one simple for just the signing of the documents and then one big one for when the inlaws come??
