  1. Yes Yes you can travel through cancun, my husband did that however I must say that if he's alone (and even probably with you) the mexican police will have to follow his every move. They even escorted my husband to the bathroom  He was only there for 7 hours and then he arrived at our POE in LAX on a straight flight. I wouldn'r risk cigars through Mexico..they only allow one box and they will definently check you when you arrive at LAX. you can email me directly if you have any questions...sorry i've been away so much from the computer to help my fellow cuba visa out...my daughter is just so much work for the tow of us

    take care

I know that one of the Cuban posters did that exact thing... flew threw Mexico. My thought is that if it is just a layover flight of less than 24 hours there would be no need of a visa from Mexico. I will try and remeber who it was that did exactly what you are asking... maybe I will pm you with that. Oh... and off the subject. Is there absolutely no rum or cigar allowed into the US, or do you know if maybe there is a small limit that could be brougth in? I know I asked before but wanted to double check. Thanks!!!

There is a small amount that you are allowed but thats for people traveling with a licence. I dont know if people migrating here are allowed to do the same another thing is. Im not sure if its allowed because customs lets it slide by or because its really legal eather way i wouldnt risk it. Its really not worth it I have brought rum from cuba but I siad I was coming from cancun and i think that they didnt ask me about it because it wasnt Havana Club it was Mulata so i think that Customs didnt notice that it was Cuban rum. Now my grandmother came from cuba and she had about 3 packs of cigarets not even cigars and they confiscated them. So all im saying is dont risk it

  2. Good evening,

I have a couple of logistical questions about the AOS after K-1. First, I know that I have to marry within the 90 days (and we did) but do we also have to turn in the paperwork within that time (90days) I'm almost finished with it however the 90 days will end for me on May 15th and i'm still gathering information. My last question is if we (the co-sponsor and I) have to turn in 3 years of tax returns and w-2's. I'm using a co sponsor because I've been a student for the past 5 years and was told that I could explain that in a document. Okay thanks in advance!!

    love,

    cubanlovestory.

  3. Thank you all for the kind advice, this has been painful, it is what it is. I did give birth to a beautiful baby girl last week. She is just gorgeous, that is keeping me focused. Take care

all what can i say be strong

now it's 2 month 7 day that i pass my interview ,my fiancee gone crazy we call each day they say it will take 2 to 8 weeks now it will take 2 to 4 months that's crazy ,i know how you feel

all what can i say focus in ur life and don't called theme each day and believe you will be with your fiancee and this time should make us very near to our love and make each other very patient and strong

hope to hear good news and wish you the best luck

i will not try to called the DOS this week ;)

  4. Loosing my mind,

I'm going through a very similiar situation. I'm also pregnant, and I will be induced on Tuesday if I don't spontaneosly go into labor this weekend. You know you really need to try and find a peace of mind and just focus on the most important things during your pregnancy and your relationship right now. You know it was a harsh reality for me also when my fiance had his interview the last week of November only to find out that they put him on AP. It was so painful, i didn't even know what that meant. We were already purchasing the tickets and everything. The reality of the situation is that you really just have to find a place in your heart to foster patience. It hurts, it's painful, it's expensive (trust me calling Cuba is usually no cheaper than $2 a minute). The whole reason that i'm overdue has alot to due with this stressfull experience, wanting him to be at the birth of our first child...but frankly in my case that is just not going to happen and i'm finally at peace with that. How many months are you? If you are early in your pregnancy you shouldn't give up hope of having him here before the birth. Don't give up hope remember that now you have an innocent child in the middle of this situation and he/she needs the both of you to be strong so he/she can develop in a healthy state of mind. Trust me I know exactly what you are going through. My case was expedited in the begining through Faxes by my Doctor and Lawyer just to get the interview early (which is merely impossible in Cuba) and we got. it..only to fall in AP. Please don't give up hope...lean on family and friends for the pregnancy. You will get through this...you must believe that!!! Remember you are never alone...you will be surprised what you might find when you read the stories of the people on VJ, not everyone has the easy visa journey, but in the end the vast majority get reunited with their loved ones....it's just all about patience. Take care of yourself..especially for the baby!!

    cubanlovestory

I read of a successful expedite once because of a pregnancy, but the mother was the immigrant, not the USC.
  5. WELCOME HOME MOHAMMED!!!!!! THE TWO OF YOU HAVE INSPIRED SO MANY OF US HERE ON VISA JOURNEY!!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE TOGETHER!!!!

    Yay!!!!!!

Bet this is the happiest New Year yet!!!!!!!!!!

Here's to making 2007 just the start of an amazing life together!!!!!!!!

  6. I know that I should be trying to focus on the birth of our baby, but this AP really stinks. The operators at DOS give you such the run around, I don't even know why I call them, but part of me feels like I need to know the exact day when they clear his name so I can make sure that the embassy prints the visa immediately. So far I've been told that he has 3 security clearances pending, that he was supposedly cleared on November 28th, but however the embassy asked for more clearances which has put us in this long wait. I'm not worried about being able to see him again or anything like that because our love is eternal and I will go back to be with him if I have to but this just doesn't make any sense, he has no record of anything, these checks are just so frustrating :crying: . I call DOS everyday to find out if their are any updates  , however I think that i'm just going to have to stop that, because it doesn't make me feel any better. I'm however finally at the point to now whenever I call and they tell me that the security clearances are "still pending" my whole day isn't ruined. I actually go through mental excercises to prepare me for whatever they tell me on the other line. I think i'm just going to take a break from calling them..and just focus on my baby. Take care everyone..I just needed to vent. :help:

    ...and HAPPY NEW YEAR

  7. Okay I just paid my highest phone bill. It was $400, it was worth it though because that includes the calls to the US consulate in Cuba to sheduele his interview and a couple of 1 hour phone calls to my honey. Remember I pay $2 a minute on my cell phone to call cuba (with best quality) and between $.80-$1.00 on phone Cards (with the usual echo)

  8. Thank you so much for the kind words. Well today was my due date and it came and went. I talked to my honey and he is doing well, we are just patiently awaiting her arrival. She is our first so she may come just a little late. You take care of yourself!! and Happy New Year

    cubanlovestory (F):)

I want to add my best wishes here as well. I pray you are able to be with your love soon and that all goes well with the delivery of this precious new life. What a blessing even if your fiance is not able to be there with you... this too shall pass and you will be together again. Best of luck and thanks for keeping us posted. (F)
  9. OKAY NOW THIS HAS TRULY MADE MY DAY!!!! WHEN I CALLED DOS TODAY I SPOKE TO A LADY NAMED ROSE, I WONDER IF SHE WAS THE SAME ONE YOU HAVE BEEN SPEAKING TO. ANYWAY I'M JUST SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU AND I WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU. HAVE A WONDERFUL WEDDING!!!

    PEACE :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Um....can I ask a stupid question and you all won't think I'm rude. Please?

You all know my man is from the UK so I don't know NUTHIN' about Muslim/Islamic cultures (forgive me if I even said that wrong).

Is the bidet something needed as part of that culture? I'm always interested to learn new things about other cultures.

*covers my eyes - so embarrased*

I can't believe I've asked this question but it's been bugging me all day. I asked Wes if he knew because he's known more people from that part of the world than me and he didn't have a clue either.

It's just that water is seen as a better way to clean your backside than toilet paper by many in that region of the world.

Thanks!! I just got a PM explaining it to me as well.

Actually it sounds like a pretty good idea. I wonder if I could get the hang of hitting the target? LOL

  10. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you .....I'm also praying that we will be off of Administrative Process soon. I hope you guys will bring in the New Year together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to add my congratulations too. I am so happy for you! I have been quietly watching your journey and pulling for you (I don't post much anymore). But, this made my day. I wish you a long and happy life together.
  11. Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to post in here sending my uttmost gratitude for your advice, love and support. I am due any day and even though my Fiance is still not here, I'm just so happy to have gone through this process with you all. As many of you know he is going through Administrative Process at DoS and it's just been an emotional rollercoaster through out everything but we are so thankful for our love and our new addition to the family coming any day now. I pray that all of you have a wonderful holiday and that you all will soon be reunited with your loved ones. Remember all of this will pass and soon this whole process will just be a memory, time is very relative and enjoy each moment together and apart. Take care

    Love,

    cubanlovestory

due to deliver any day now

  12. Congratulations on getting your interview date, now just relax, this will all come to pass, and years from now this will all be a faint memory!!!!

    cubanlovestory

Although we don't have an interview date we're awfully close. I can feel the stress and excitement mounting.

No worries because you have made it this far - your I-129F fiance application has already been approved. Like Joey said, prepare yourselves well and everything will be fine...

  13. I'm right there with you Reb, the person that pays is who ever can afford it to bring us together and the reality is that I can afford everthing with my salary. We don't look at it that way though, because for instance when I lived over there, I was living rent free with him and we were just humbly in love. When I moved back here I specifically got a job so we could reunite with eachother, and that's the beautiful price of love (sacrifice) that I will continue to pay as long as it brings us together

Really this is not a huge issue for us because quite frankly he could never afford the entire bill living on a Cuban salary. Things are just different there and honestly I do not mind at all having to pay for most of it... because he will one day be here with me. Plus, isn't there that waying "what's mine is yours... and your is mine"? :innocent:
  14. GLAD TO BE OF HELP!! Just be organized and patient and this will all come to pass

    cubanlovestory

    Welcome Reb,

Considering that she has been with her fiance for 3 years, I think that we should all assume that she really knows how to get in and out of the country. US CubaVJers know that it's a risk, but sometimes love puts us through that. Some of us have Licenses and some of us use 3rd country's because the straight flights are only for License holding passengers

Reb as far as you quiting your job to be with him throughout the whole process...mmmmhh okay, do you have money saved up, the process on the Cuba side can be pretty pricey. The medical checkup alone is 550cuc and prices might be increasing on the carta blanca begining next year. I think that you should definently plan to be there for the interview or as soon as you know your petition is getting sent to the US interest section in Cuba. If you have money saved up and have a co-sponsor than it shouldn't be a problem...however I just don't know if it would be the best idea to quit your job unless you were studying over there because they might question you about that at the interview. I couldn't make the interview because i'm pregnant, but I think if you can make it, it would help things...however I don't think that you should quit your job (unless your job sucks and you were already going to quit it anyway) After all you guys will be spending the rest of your lives together so this time apart will be forgotten in the future. Good luck with everything!!

    cubanlovestory

:D Thanks so much for your input. I defintely value what you have to say being that you can understand my situation a bit more, as far as country specifics. I knew that the costs can be high in Cuba, but guess I never realized the extent. I am saving what I can now, so if the chance comes to be with him during that time then I could be there. I know it would be a huge support for him and plus we have not been together for over 10 months as it is (and counting). But you gave some great advice as far as quitting my job, things that I told myself, guess I just really want to be with him... however need to think a bit more realistically and long term. Push come to shove I will most likely not go, but just wanted to see what the possibility was. As you said... love makes you do crazy things. Thanks again and best of luck in the future. :D

Americans routinely go to Canada so they can take a cheap flight to a Cuban vacation. But I believe you must sign a waiver stating you understand there could be a fine of $10,000.
  16. Hello Everyone, I just realized that I didn't know the difference between AR and AP, I keep reading about both of them simultaneously and however I'm not understanding if they are the same thing. Can someone shed light on me about that. My fiance was told that he was on AP, but then I hear other people use the term AR. Okay please anyone help clear up this doubt.

    sincerely,

    cubanlovestory :help:
