  1. Hi - As far as I am aware - you wont be able to travel back to India immediately on an Evisa.. reason being that even after u naturalize and become a US citizen u have to officially renounce your Indian citizenship - otherwise you are still an Indian citizen on paper (and as you must have read up, its not legal under the Indian laws to have dual citizenship)

Secondly - I am not quite certain if they let you use the evisa being an Indian citizen previously.. better double check with the CKGS guys before you finalize your travel plans.

  2. I also raised a SR 2 weeks ago and spoke to a L2 officer yesterday.

She said that the reply to the SR will most prob be that "your case is under processing".. so basically no real update.

She also said that the USCIS was behind on their EAD/AP processing and they are no longer able to issue EAD/AP in 90 days - its more like 120 days now..

So wait is all we can do.. good luck to everyone who is waiting..

  3. Apologies - my post wasn't clear and now I can't seem to edit it.

Basically Questions 40a -41 are in continuation to question 36. This applies to you - the petitioner.

So to make it clear - you have to tick one option in Question 36 (either you are US citizen or a lawful permanent resident.)

    1. If you tick US citizen - then you will have to complete Question 37 to 39c

    2. If you tick Lawful Permanent Resident - then you will need to complete Question 40a -41

    Hope this helps

  4. Hello everyone -

I stumbled upon VJ last year as my husband was in the process of applying for his citizenship and it was very helpful for us just reading about the various experiences of the members. (Now he is a US citizen and I am on a B2).

I turn to you for advice : will try to present the facts in a timeline

    1. Married in Home country Feb 2016 (while he was on his green card)

    2. He sent his application for naturalization in May 2016

    3. I visited him in USA in June 2016 (10 days)

    4. I visited him again in September 2016 (10 days)

    5. His n400 interview - Nov 2016

At his interview he was told that the approx wait time for oath is around 2 months. so we planned another visit for Dec 2016. I had initially planned for a three week visit this time. However just a week before I was to fly back - we decided that we don't want to do this long distance anymore and it would be nice to be with each other permanently.

To make facts clear - I did not enter with the intent of staying back / migrating. Did not lie or give false statements at POE.

He received his oath notice after I bought my ticket.  he had his oath just 2 days before I landed in USA. ( when i bought my ticket I was hoping to attend his oath in Jan 2017)

Now my worry is - if it would look suspicious on my AOS application that my husband had his oath ceremony just 2 days before I landed in US?

    any advice would be great.
