If you've been waiting for your application for 6 months and your H1B/H4 ended in January, maybe you should leave. You'll probably not get the visitor visa/permission by this point and you can get in trouble. You've already stayed a long time. You cannot apply for an extension of the visitor visa if they haven't even decided on the original visitor visa/petition.

You can try to call USCIS to make inquiries if you want. But I think you should prepare to leave.

    You have a point. Thanks!

Would you know if there's any update on why it's taking too long for the decision to come out?

  2. Hi Everyone,

I am currently waiting for the result of my application for change of status from H4 to B2. I filed my application before my H4 visa expired in February 4, 2017. My application is going to turn 6 months this August. Do I need to file for an extension knowing that the maximum they can give me for B2 is 6 months or do I just wait for the result to come out? Will I be able to change status even if my B2 result has not been approved and my previous status is expired? Thank you in advance for all your help.

  3. I am currently in the US on an H4 visa with my wife as the main petitioner under H1B visa. We have exhausted our 6 years maximum stay so we wanted to apply for a tourist visa before our current visa expires. We are planning to file our application online without the help of a lawyer. Does anybody know the process of doing that and if we have a good chance at getting approved? Any input is appreciated.
