Omg. So sorry to hear it:(((
With my second green card it was crazy - 18 month. Tampa is sooooo behind - new huge building, but so many cases... and not enought people at all. I was absolutely surprised when I got info about interview, didn’t have spect anything earlier then September - October best case scenario.
but a friend of mine finished all the process in 3(three) month from filing to getting a passport - in Jacksonville, FL. And another friend is that I airing for 28 month already in California. That’s crazy....And what about your biometrics? Any updates? Did you ask about your case progress on USCIS site?
28 months in California? That’s crazy. We haven’t received a notice about biometric reuse but hopefully we don’t have to go in for it. I didn’t know we could ask about our progress on the site. That’s useful. Ill search and see if I can find it. Thank you!

Would my husband using foreign references for a job application hinder his chances of getting the job? Should we try to find only American references?
-
Mu husband had his interview but he was put into administrative processing because they asked us to have a joint sponsor. For the i-864 is the original document needed for the sponsor or can it be a scanned copy?
-
I'm feeling a bit nervous about our interview. I don't think I will be able to cope if we get rejected. I am my husbands sponsor and I've never had to file taxes before because I've never met the income requirements.
I started working my current job a little over 6 months ago and I make over 125% of the poverty guideline. I have my pay stubs as proof but I'm afraid that since I don't have tax returns and I haven't been working over a year that this might be cause for denial. I also included irs statement of non filing. Am I good or should I be worried?

Just be aware you cannot use the I-864EZ. Use the I-864. For non-filing because your income was below the filing threshold, simply hand write in the available space, "Not required to file. Income below threshold." Works every time it's tried.
Thanks. I've already been approved at the NVC stage. Just waiting for my interview date. Hopefully this thread will help someone else in the future.

For anyone in the future who wants to be the sponsor with a spouse from Trinidad and you have never paid taxes but you're currently employed and making over the 125% it helps if you attach 6 months of pay stubs with the Affidavit of Support. My case got held up at NVC for a long time because I did not attach it and I never found out the reason why it was help up until a long time afterwards.

Here is an update to my case. I decided to wait a bit before I called again. When I called I was then told again that my case was going through additional processing after being told it wasn’t. I asked to speak to a supervisor and since there were none in at the moment the representative took my number and said that she would have a supervisor call me.
A few hours later a supervisor called and told me that nvc looked at my case and that everything checked out on their end but that my case was in a port of spain pilot program and that Trinidad was doing a check on my case. I’ve never heard of the Port of Spain pilot program and googling it brings nothing up.
I asked the representative around when my case would be approved and he told me there is no timeframe for it. So Im just here waiting once again.
Scan date August 21st.

Call them again and request to speak with a supervisor and if you're lucky enough to get a rep who's willing to pass on the message, leave them your phone number (US phone number) and a supervisor will call you back.
Thanks. Ill definitely try that.

I called again this morning to find out the reason for the additional processing. The person i spoke to told me that i did not provide my affidavit of support which is the first time I'm hearing this but my affidavit of support was included which i told her. Then she said that it was because I did not include my income tax returns to which i said that I included a letter stating that I was not required to file taxes for those years. Then she said that I am in supervisor review not additional processing after I was told twice before by two different representatives that my case is in additional processing. She told me to wait 6 weeks because calling again but I'm confused and not sure if they even know where my case is at right now.

Hi there! I'm so sorry your case went into additional processing. May I ask what date did the NVC receive all of your documents? Did you receive any checklists?
I have heard of a case before, a user on Visa Journey whose case went into administrative processing. I'm not sure exactly why, though.

This is the user whose case went into AP. Read her posts, maybe you'll find something useful. Also, her husband got his visa approved in the end
I just read about the Person's case and it seems as though they were put into additional processing after receiving an interview date. My husband and I are still waiting to get through having our Affidavit of Support approved. I haven't been able to find any instances of additional processing before receiving an interview. I really hope that nothing is wrong with our application.

I'm guessing the "additional processing" is due to your request for a supervisor review.
I really do hope its just that.

Thanks for your reply. My case was received on the 21st of August. I received a checklist on the 1st of September for a letter stating that I was not required to pay taxes which I had already included with my original package. I told this to the representative that I spoke to over the phone and they suggested that I send it in for a supervisor to review and so I did that. A couple of days later I resent the letter again as well for good measure.
Thanks for the users post. Its comforting knowing that Im not the only one going through this.

My case went into additional processing at NVC but I can't find any case with additional processing before receiving an interview. Is there something wrong with my case? Am i most likely going to be denied?
First they told me that they couldn't find my letter stating that I was not required to pay any taxes so I requested a supervisor review and also resent the letter. Now I'm at additional processing. What could be the reason for me being sent to additional processing? Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to make it go faster?
-
So our case went from them stating that one of the documents we submitted was never received to supervisor review and now to Additional Processing . On the verge of just giving up on this entire process. It feels as though my husband and I will never be reunited again. No clue what is going to happen next with our case.

what does " pr income tax returns" ? they wanted something besides the transcripts? I thought the transcripts covered everything.
Im sorry. That was a typo it was supposed to be or. Sorry but I dont see the option to edit it anymore.

If you specifically received a checklist for tax transcripts/returns only, then yes they are reviewing already. And that's impressively fast considering your scan date was August 21st.
Im glad its going by so quickly. I was shocked to see an email from them so soon. I sent my case to supervisor review on the advice of the agent at nvc so hopefully that doesn't hold it back.
-
Also does this mean that I have to include another copy of my I-864 in the documents I'm sending to them ?
Please send the corrected form and documents to NVC. Mailing instructions can be found
on the Case Number Barcode Cover Sheet. Your case is on hold until we receive these
items. Remember to include a photocopy of the Form I-864 for your accompanying applicants. -
Hi everyone! Just a quick question. I received a checklist early this morning for my 2016 tax transcripts pr income tax returns. However I was not required to pay taxes for that year because my income was under the required amount. So with my I-864 I included a letter explaining this, Social Security Statement of Earnings and my Irs Transcript of non-filing. On my coverpage I checked the box that said that I included IRS Tax transcripts because I included the Irs Transcript of non-filing. Was this incorrect? Is the Transcript of non-filing not considered a Tax Transcript?
If it is incorrect do I have to send another coverpage alone?
Also my scan date is the 21st of August, does getting a checklist mean that our case is in review already?
Thanks so much! Excited to be hearing back from them so soon.

Thank you so much for your input. I was just afraid that since Ive only been working in this job for a few months that I wouldn't be able to sponsor my husband. Its great to know that I can. Thanks for your help.
