So the NOA2 is sent to beneficiary's address ( mailing and email)? Or does it goes to the US citizen?

It is the beneficiary who files the AOS on his/her behalf, so it is that person who receives the NOA2 and any RFEs. My wife had 2 RFEs, but we settled those very quickly. From the tone of your remark, I'm left wondering if you and your beneficiary do not share the same address?

I see from your profile that you just filed your I-129F. The NOA2 for that goes to the petitioner. After the foreign fiance comes to the U.S., all paperwork is filed on behalf of or by the foreign party, and they receive all NOAs.

    Everyone,

I am a little lost as to what will happen next and when. Almost 2 weeks ago, I got e-mail confirmation from NVC that they are forwarding our approved I-129F petition to the US embassy in Spain, where my fiance lives. This letter has the original USCIS receipt number as well as the NVC case number on it, along with the names of the Prinicipal Applicant (My fiance), and the Petitioner (myself).

My first question: Is it normal for this letter to be addressed to the alien resident beneficiary (my fiance who lives on Spain), because this letter is. Or should it be addressed to me? I'm a little confused about this one. This notification came to my e-mail address, this is why I ask this.

My second question: What happens next, and how long does it normally take? How long until we can get an appointment for the inteview?

I realize these are somewhat newbie questions, but hopefully clear concise answers to these will help someone else as they go through this K1 process. Again, thank you all for your input, and I wish only the best to everyone else who is going through this K1 visa process right now. I know it's stressful, but hang in there! It will be totally worth it!

It won't be long before your fiance can set a US embassy appointment for her interview. And yes, the letter always goes to the beneficiary. It's an easy ride from here (usually!) so just roll with it and you'll both be fine.

File I-485 to adjust status and also include a I-765 for an employment authorization document. When that arrives she can gain employment. Without the EAD she can't work.

Well, this has already proved to be not necessarily true. My fiance got a connection thru a family member and got a good job in a highly reputable company in my line of work and has been hired and working 3 weeks now. They did not require a green card or EAD.

Hi, all, followup question to some of my previous about I-130/I-485 for parents.

I concurrently filed the I-130/I-485 last week (5 business days ago), UPS'd overnight and delivery confirmed. I still haven't gotten any G-1145 e-Notification for anything. My beneficiaries only have three weeks left on their I-94s. Should I prepare to have them leave the US if we don't get a receipt or acknowledgement from USCIS that they have accepted the applications? Is there AOS-pending status good as soon as the delivery is signed? Please help me not to panic. :)

I-94 does not expire. My wife arrived 10/12/18 on K-1 visa and we married in November. Her I-94 was an online-only document, which she did not receive until she showed up for a follow-up exam at the local department of health. It's only a document verifying arrival in the U.S. and it does not expire. It really does not even require but a copy for your records, as their is no hard copy of it anywhere but online and (later) in file packages you send (such as I-485 for Adjustment of Status). Put that one out of your thoughts. Concentrate and follow your account (if you took one out yet) on USCIS web site.

  5.  Hello One and All. Mods, please move this question to the appropriate forum as needed. I looked a good while for info on this topic with little to no results.

My K-1 Visa wife and I have been married since 11/28. We got her a SS card before we were married, and now need to file for her change of last name. I'm confused about what stage we need to be at for her to be eligible for employment in the U.S.

Is having a Social Security number and card enough? Or do we need to file an EAD to make her employment-eligible? Or do we have to go so far as to file Change of Status and have her Green Card? This is driving us NUTZ because she does NOT want to be "just a housewife" and I PROMISED she could find employment here. She has done all the things she really wanted to do in the house, and now is going stir-crazy wanting to earn a paycheck to have her own money like she had at her job in the Philippines.

So who can tell me just what she needs to have, or where can I go to find out what she needs?

Far upper right corner just under your user name is a little google box.  Whenever you want to look up something just type the subject in there.  Past thread on that issue will come up.  Sometimes you may need to alter your wording, but I usually get good responses from that.   No worries.  Btw, the passport will contain a sticker like visa on one of the pages.   It's more than just a stamp.  Congrats!

Yup, I found the Advanced Search button, but found nothing relating to my topic. I did however look closely at 2 pictures she sent me on FB Messenger last night, and I am anxious to talk to her when she wakes up now. I think she still has everything in the Good2Go bag, and the page with the "Do Not Open" warning is visible inside, and the very first line says that the passport can be fetched from the pouch but nothing else is to be disturbed. So I think we're good.

Thanks for the congrats! Our only issue was a small spot on her chest x-ray that she had to have the sputum test for, but she passed that, then passed her interview 9 days later.

If you  use the advance search tool you will see that there have been other topics started on this same subject.

She can make a small slit in the envelope to retrieve her passport.  The POE packet should remain untouched  DO not open or bother the envelope for POE.

Thanks! I wasn't aware that anyone had reported having this happen, and had no clue where specifically to look!

  8.  My fiancee had her interview and was approved. She picked up her visa package from Good2Go yesterday, but was upset because it appeared that her newly-stamped passport was INSIDE the sealed envelope with her medical records! The pouch is clear, but paper inside warns of even attempting to break the seal making her visa null and void. We both agreed she needs to phone the embassy in the morning and likely go back and give them the documents again to resend to her.

I don't get it. I thought the sealed medical results are in a manila envelope sealed and opaque. Yet, her packet had her medical papers and passport in a CLEAR plastic pouch with a visible paper stating DO NOT OPEN. How is she supposed to get her passport out of there? Does it sound like the embassy messed up?

Sending the medical file to the embassy is normal in this situation, hand carrying is not allowed.

Maybe now, but until recently there had been instructions on the embassy web site re: bringing the sealed envelope from SLEC with repeated warnings about not breaking the seal on the envelope.

  10. She passed her sputum test yesterday. No positive result over 60 days!! She got her vaccinations today and her sealed packet is being sent to the U.S. Embassy. Huh! That changed. We thought she would be given it to carry to her interview. We are as excited now to be moving forward after the 3 month holdup!!! She scheduled her interview already for 7:10am on September 21st. Wheeee!!!

I am very sorry to hear about this. As everyone always says, do not purchase tickets until you have visa in hand.

Turned out to be not so bad. I had purchased flight insurance when I bought her airfare on Experida, and when I called to cancel the flight and why....I was told there was a $100 fee out of the refund for the airfare, which is refundable when I file a claim with E-surance. Hence, 100% refund.

  12. Well, Sue had her medical exam today, and she called me in tears and inconsolable. She and many others going through the U.S. Embassy line failed and have to take a sputum test, as they were told the Embassy is getting tough on chest x-rays. Sue had had TB when she was 25, but has been clear and free of any TB for 23 years, though she has scar tissue on her lungs. She was scheduled for sputum test in July11-13 time window. Everything had been sailing along smoothly until this came up. Even here, some had told me that scar tissue on the lungs was not always a deal breaker.
Not now it appears. ANYONE coming to the U.S. will be ordered to take a sputum test if even a dot shows on their chest x-rays.

I cannot say enough how devastating this is to us, as I now have to re-schedule her flight to me.......and the way she managed to set up her interview and go for her medical exam made getting her here a slam dunk, but not now.

I guess this is just a warning to any Filipino going through the process to come to the U.S. They are being REALLY TOUGH now on chest x-rays. One technician even told Sue that prolonged exposure to the Metro Manila air and diesel fumes can cause lung anomalies. This is not a good situation for us or anyone looking to come to the U.S. from the Philippines..

St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLEC), the Embassy's accredited panel physician, will begin charging a new medical examination fee of Php 16,042.50 for most immigrant visa applicants effective October 1, 2016. The medical fee increase is based on mandatory gonorrhea testing for all immigrant visa applicants 15 years of age and older as instructed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Wow. That's a lot more than it was just last year. Seems to me I had read $245 was it. Glad I know now......thanks!!

  14.  Please bear with me if this info is buried elsewhere on this site. My fiancee was late getting her passport due to missing voter registration ID, and she just picked up her passport Friday afternoon, completed her D-160 online and went to the bank to pay for the visa application.

My question is this: what is the current fee for the medical exam at St. Luke's? I have looked many places online and come up with figures from $245 to as high as $330. I don't want her to be short handed in cash when it's time for her exam.

      Help? Anyone from the Philippines?

Hey all ... I'm sorry and I feel really bad for not being able to help you with posting the December scans for the last week. We had trouble with the internet connection and the scans didn't run well. We also had his kids with us and that was important for me to spend time with them. So yes I totally forgot to look into VJ and again ... I apologize for not giving a heads up at least.

Let me know if you need to see them here in the November thread or if it is fine to have them in the Decenber thread.

You do SO MUCH in bringing helpful info and experience to so many of us searching for hope and answers. You are certainly entitled to have a life with your loved one's family. Ultimately, that life is what you are working towards....as we all are on here!! You are an inspiration to many....including me. I finally was able to get my NVC case # today by phone with my love on Skype waiting to get the info.

Hello! I'm the beneficiary from the Philippines but we filed in Qatar USEM.

When I called NVC, they just asked for my full name and date of birth and the receipt number from uscis (beneficiary). And also my fiances fullname and date of birth. They did verify all those details and gave me our case number.

When you called NVC to get your MNL #, did you phone the immigrant or non-immigrant phone #? I called the non-immigrant number and the recording said I needed my fiancee's passport #. The immigrant visa line did not require that.

    how about you guys?

Hi JahRyl...I see your fiancee is from Philippines also. I got NOA-2 on 4/4 and still have heard nothing yet from the NVC. I tried calling on the non-immigrant 1-800 number and was told by recording that I need her passport #. Well, due to a mixup, she had to re-apply for her voter registration ID, which did not show up on the passport web site as a required ID. Did you have a passport # or were you able to work around that in getting your MNL #?
