  1. My issue about Clinton was this. I worked for the government at the bottom of the feeding chain. About every month we would have meetings where we were lectured on not taking advantage of our $6 an hour "power positions" to take advantage of women. Heck, I came to work with my eyes appropriatly cast at the ground, worked by myself in the woods all day, left work and went home, yet i was typed as a horrible abuser of my power position in taking advantage of women. After enough years of this I said screw it and became an attorney.

So the issue is this; why were many individuals with no power at all who worked for the government, continually harrassed about using our power positions to abuse women, when we were not in power positions and avoided all contact with women because we might say something offensive like, "hi, how are you doing", when the male in the ultimate power position, does an act where I would have had a rope tied around my balls and dragged down mainstreet for, it is "no big deal".

The Clinton issue has nothing to do about an affair. It has everything to do about a person being elected to a power position based on support for those who directly opposed what he did. Of course, when he did it, it was okay which makes me question the sincerity of the whole movement.

  2. Kind of too bad. The internet has opened up the chance of compatibility immensely. In this small town my choices were between Lizzy Borden and 2 meth dealers. It was a great experience of chatting with women all over the world and dealing with so many different views and personalities. It seems like cultural diversity becomes evil to many when it is not used for a political objective and used for a more fulfilling relationship.

  3. I am a criminal law attorney. I find it depressing that so many of my colleagues do not approach a case with any work ethic. I studied immigration law a while back with thoughts of doing it, but, decided not to because as others have said here, most cases can easily be done by yourself and the guides here. If you do your case just be careful to check your work for any mistakes. The bottom line is, is that your case is going be much more important to you than many attorneys (unfortunately).

  4. If I ever needed some help it would surely be now, not only did I receive the good news on Friday August 17th that our petition was approved, but also received the news from Eve on Saturday that she is pregnant. Will this have any affect on her K-1 visa when she goes for the medical or interview? Someone told Eve that this is going to cause us a problem please tell me this isn’t so!!!

My wife met a woman who was pregnant during the interview process. I do not believe it was a problem. She arrived in the USA about the same time as my wife.

  5. Real tough for me. My fiancee was real jealous. I had no thoughts of someone else. The only time i desired a females company (non-sexual) was when she was ragging on me. It made me feel so low. I just wanted to be around a woman who trusted me for what I am not as some kind of ###### around. My feeling on her is that I trusted her. If she turned into the cheating around type, I would know and good riddance. Either someone will or won't and the worry is not going to make a difference. You cannnot force someone to be faithful.

I trust my fiance and even when we where apart.. i never had any feelings of jelousy when he went out with his mates... gotta have his own life.

Get this is line.. this kind of emotion can tear couples apart.

  6. I am an attorney who plans to go into immigration law. I found your post interesting. I have been getting ready for the AOS process and looking into case law in case I have to go into immigration court. The service you received seemed to be much more in line with what I would believe a cost range between $500-$750 which is the range I plan to charge going through the AOS process. If I have to appear in imigration court that would be more. I would be interested in what services you received.

I am currently at the start of the visa process e.g finding informtion and forms and I was wondering do many people use a lawyer to help their finance visa process. I have read the benefit being that they add credability to you being a couple and obviously keep track of your affairs. But in general are they more advantageous to have or not in the application process?

    Thanks

I paid $2000 to Holmes and Lolly. For that, they put in maybe 3-4 hours of work.

After my wife arrived, the Adjustment of Status journey turned into a surrealistic nightmare. And H&L did absolutely NOTHING.

The visa is the easy part... The AOS is where you have to be seriously on top of things. And the visa-lawyers aren't interested in this... Only your money.

    JMO.

  7. I guess the first step is to get the police clearance withs the suffix. My next question would be is there something in common on that clearance and your identity in Canada. For instance here, there might be the same social security number on both, thus showing you are the same person. Additionally, you might try and get police clearance without your suffix in other countries showing maybe that there is no person there. Just some ideas. I hope things work for you.

  8. My first name as a young child had a suffix attached to it. It is never used but it is a cultural thing. Once I immigrated to Canada that portion was dropped. The problem I have is the police clearance from the other country includes the suffix on the police clearance. They said the consulate in Canada can issue a letter to indicate it is the same person. I called the consulate in Ottawa and they are indicating they can not issue the letter as they will have to verify a document from another country. They suggested I contact a lawyer. I’m not sure what to do at this point. I have all the evidence indicating it is the same person. (me!)

At the interview, is the consulate going to ask why the name on the polce clerance is slightly different from the CAD passport?!

Has anyone experienced this and what did you do. Please help!

  9. the visa sponsor must disclose whether or not they have ever been convicted by a court of law (civil or criminal) or court martialed by a military tribunal of any of the following crimes (even if the records of the conviction were sealed or expunged):

    (a) domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, dating violence, elder abuse and stalking;

    (B) homicide, murder, manslaughter, rape, abusive sexual conduct, sexual exploitation, incest, torture, trafficking, peonage, holding hostage, involuntary servitude, slave trade, kidnapping, abduction, unlawful criminal restraint, false imprisonment or an attempt to commit any of these crimes; or

© three or more convictions for crimes relating to a controlled substance or alcohol not arising from a single act.

If the visa sponsor has any criminal history that falls under these categories, they will also have to provide certified copies of any related court and/or police records regarding that criminal history. The petition may be approved, even if this type of criminal history is present. However, any such criminal history will be disclosed to the prospective immigrant.

    Bloodofheroes,

If I understand this correctly, it was your sister that called the police. Unless you have no possible relations with your sister it is likely to come up at some future family gathering. So, you are right about biting the bullet now. If you are honest with her and she truly loves you, she will understand. Tell her about it and see what happens. I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised.

I think consulting an attorney would be a good idea, but maybe you should wait to see what happens first.

  10. I am sure it has to be disclosed. It just should not effect the process if your fiancee knows.

the arrest record is misdeameanor , and i think they call it gross misdeameanor, class 4 two counts of assualt on a child.. becuase i have two children... and i dont care what anyone thinks might have happened.. I spanked them on the butt and thats it.. and there were no marks... and thats the truth
I spanked my two boys and i was arrested and charged with DV.. misdemeanor 4 assault..

I signed up for deferred prosecution and I attended 4 parenting classes and paid a 300 dollar monitoring fee

whereby they check you on the computer for two years and the 300 is to pay for that they say

i was told at the end of the deferrement, that the record is dropped ...

now.. my lawyer hasnt been good, so make a long story short and she is completely ignorant of immigration..

my question is this a conviction? I dont have the money right now to get another lawyer..

i would like to know if i can answer the question on the form as NO to a conviction..

this happened in the state of washington...

Maybe i can find a legal service or someone who can tell me...

The answer is "NO", it is not a conviction. It is an arrest but not a conviction. If you complete your deferment, with no issues, then it is true, the record will be wiped clean as if nothing has ever happened. You would still have an arrest record but no one asks those questions on any forms/applications. Arrested for spanking????????

  11. Is it true that Manila no longer accepts co-sponsors for the K1 Visa? I had one of the lawyers I contacted tell me this. I averaged only $14,000 the past 3 years. Anyone know about this? Thanks so much!!!

I am in contact with someone, who has an attorney, and just filed using a co-sponser. I do not see where it should be different with you. PM me. I am an attorney here and will be getting into immigration law and have no problem doing free research for people as I learn about immigration law.

  12. Did you submit the K2 with the K1 for her child? If not, that needs to be done as fast as possible. maybe you can ask for an expedite for her child. Just remember there are lots of requirements for her child, depending on whether she ever married the father or not, whether the father's name is on the BC...etc. I'd go to the Manila Embassy Interview thread and ask for assisstnace since lots of members there processed their K2s at the same time.

    Good luck, Ken & Maria

I included Jenny's daughter Sophia on my petition. Jenny got a visa, but Sophia got no paperwork. What do children need to get into the United States with their mother?

thanks, as I assumed it is automatic. I must have misinterpreted what she said. talk about a panic attack

  13. No matter how hard the anti-fraud unit tried to get Jenny to lie (tell us your husband is alive and you have contact with him). She would not. She was just approved. Just a warning to those out there. They will promise you alot if you lie and tell them what they want to hear. Don't lie, be honest. If you have had no contact with your spouse tell them so and do not have them try to fool you into saying something else.

  15. In the logic of the United States Government, that seems to contemplate whether or not 23 or 24 angels can dance on the head of a needle, Jenny’s husband’s presumptive death was turned down by the embassy because they have some record of his travel in the last 5 years. Clearly there is something political going on. Just want those to be pre-warned so you don’t waste 2 years and money like us, is that annulment is the route to go even if the spouse has disappeared for years. For those living in Davao, Jenny has found what seems to be a very good attorney there. If you have any questions feel free to P.M. me.

I am in the process of liquidating assets and moving to the Philippines so I can deal with a more functional government.

  17. Patiently Waiting, I just looked at your time line and it seems like you have been through quite the ordeal. I wish you good luck.

Dean i Wait-I will keep everyone up on the process here and what happens if I emmigrate. It is so sad that they keep people in love away from each other. I wonder how this centers on the general scheme of life.

  18. I posted this in the embassy section but thought it might help here.

It seems the presumptive death route to end marriage has been used for convienance and individuals in contact with their spuses have used it in the Philippines. It seems like the embassy views presumptive death with a presumption of fraud. Jenny was called back for a second interview, where they kept making promises that she could come to the USA is she would just admit that she had contact with her husband. The trouble was is Jenny has had no contact with him in years. He literally disappeared. They said they would contact her in one to two months, so we are hoping. Annulment I believe is out of the question because I believe, if he is alive, that we would have to serve him which is difficult when someone has dropped off the face of the earth.

If you can find your spouse, annullment might work especially if he is not supporting you and/or your child. (Emotional immaturity). When I researched this out as I was trying to find Jenny's husband when I first met her, a Gaum divorce was a possibility. At that time in Guam if 2 individuals agreed, neither have to show up for the divorce. I think that has changed. If you have gone the presumptive death route, what I think helps you is a showing that you and your spouse had a good relationship until he disappeared. Pictures of them and letters are things that should be brought to the embassy.

    I hope this helps.

The good news she gave was that everyone who had not been married before seemed to get approved. The one difficulty was a very large difference in age. (65 and 20)
