I was excited and hopeful that I would be able to use the CEAC to submit documents since I got my case number in May, but the NVC letter says:

Completed DS-260 online, but now looks like have to send the support documents via email

Aaaah, email processing is so much longer than uploads... Oh, well.....

    Yip

If you log into the CEAC site, there should be a sections that show submit civic and financial documents. If you see that, then proceed with that. The letter that they send you in the mail is for the old system and they haven't really figured out how to tie the two systems together.

I decided to submit a new police clearance instead of an explanation letter.

It takes only a day to get it in South Korea (my family will do that for me) and mostly, I want to avoid unexpected delay.

    Thank you for your opinions.

    Sorry for the late reply.

I would upload it in the police clearance section as that is where they will see the letter pertaining to that section. I used my wife's pregnancy as a way to expedite it.

    You were right, Finayyy.

However, they rejected my Police certificate from South Korea because it is 4 MONTHS old. I didn't even doubt my police certificate that was issued "ONLY" 4 months ago would be expired already. (I haven't lived there more than 7 years now.)  They requested a current police certificate. Sigh.

Yet, I heard it only takes from a few hours to a day for them to re-review it once I upload it, if I'm not mistaken... right.?

Expect it by the next day.

How long did it take to get the original police clearance?

Congrats!! I submitted all the documents yesterday as well and waiting for them to be reviewed :)

it sounds interesting that "start now" button was activated for uploading the documents without the payment status being "PAID"

I agree to the idea to check with the embassy if what NVC said to you was right.

If everything is well, you'll get the approval and case closed tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you for sharing the experience.

How long did everything take? maybe an hour or two including the blood test?

And could you please show me the link for the Canada section? I'd like to join there too.

Everything took me about 3 hours in total.

Finally got the physical copy of my "You can begin online processing" letter in the mail today.
It seems the entire CEAC upload NVC process is faster than sending one letter to Australia.

Booked my physical for tomorrow morning, and booked flights to Sydney for the interview, the end is near :)

That is awesome to hear. Congrats and wishing you the best of everything.

  6. Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share my experience with Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas.

The price was $300. If you pay by debit, $301 ($1 service charge).

The overall experience was pleasant. Dr. Lyndon was extreme kind and polite. We spent more talking about cultural backgrounds (we both are Indian) then actual exam. He just checked my blood pressure and went over my vaccinations. Also asked if I drink. Was in and out within 30 minutes.

The X-Ray was also the same. Waited about 5 minutes, then got called to the back. Waited another 2-3 minutes before getting called and having the X-Ray done.

The blood work took forever as there was a huge line up. But as soon as I was called, it took literally 30 seconds.

Just for clarification, X-Ray is done to check for TB , blood test is for syphilis, urine is for Gonorrhea Testing.

Also, the X-Ray is done in the basement of Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas' office. The blood work and urine test is done at LifeLab, which is across the street from the office. I would recommend booking an appointment with LifeLab in coordination with your exam with Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas. This will help you save time rather than waiting.

Could you please share the price for the medical check once it is done?

I live in Montreal so I probably will go to Medisys in Montreal but I found the price difference was huge between Montreal and Toronto.

People who got their medical exam in Montreal paid around $450 in 2016 but only $300 in Toronto.

Wow. Super! Did you have to provide the interview date?

We are specifically looking at the Toronto doctor, I was thinking we could call now and schedule an appointment the week the beneficiary will be in Toronto, knocking the appointment out while she is vacationing. But I was uncertain if they will turn us down because we don't have an interview date yet. Ahah it's crazy trying to forecast time and appointments!

Yes, they did ask for the interview date and told us to bring the letter. I don't know if they'll accept the email that was sent to me or if there is a hard copy being sent out.

    Hi!

Just wondering if you were able to get a scheduled medical in such short notice of time? Is it possible to schedule without interview date? Trying to think ahead, as all examiners are far away from Winnipeg and beneficiary will be in Toronto soon!

Yup. I called one medical office (www.visadoctor.ca) and was able to get one scheduled the following week (tomorrow).

I just called the NVC to see what the holdup was on accepting my payments (people on the Oct. filers board were saying that there was a error in the system when using Google Chrome browser) and the woman said that we were not even in the system as being sent from USCIS! I told her that I had received my case number by email last Thursday and had already paid and she basically said she couldn't help me. Has anybody else gotten this response when calling them?

When you call, you apparently need to use option 5 and tell them that you are in the new upload system. A lot of the call agents are not trained or aware of the new system.

Has anyone received any messages in the "Messages" section of the CEAC website?

Previously I've received two emails telling me I had messages to read, but didn't see any when I logged in.

Now I have one message telling me that my visa interview has been cancelled, and will be re-scheduled, however, I never received a message with interview date to begin with.

I have emailed our NVC contact to see what is going on.

I would get emails say that I recieved a message but didn't get anything. I ended up emailing NVC and then got my actual response or message somehow relayed to me.

NVC will email you with their official appointment letter. At the bottom of the email it will contain the interview date and time.

Check the status to see where it is. It's a link that's just before you sign into the system. I checked mine on Monday morning and found out it was on its way to Montreal and that I was supposed to get a notification with the date and time. I got the notification in the afternoon.

Hello! I paid my AOS and IV fees on Friday and they are still processing. I heard that it should only take 1-2 days with the new system so I was wondering what everyone else's experience was with this?

It will take 1-2 days for it to process. But remember that since Monday was a holiday, they might not process payments. Also, you won't get any notification or email that the payment was accepted. If I remember correctly, as soon as the payments are made, you can start submitting your documents.

    I have a good news today :)

I finally got my case number today after a month since my petition arrived at NVC!!

Maybe, some of you heard to press option 5 instead of 2 because that's the place where the new system is dealt.

However, according to a supervisor, there are VERY few agents who were trained for the new system AND if none of them are available, your call will be automatically transferred to a regular representative who doesn't have an access to the new system.

So, if a representative tells you he/she will transfer you to a right agent for your case, just ask him/her you want to talk to a supervisor.

I wish a good luck for those of you who just entered to a NVC step.

and I'll pay AOS and IV fees today and upload all the documents asap.

@Finayyy,  I assume you will have an interview in Montreal too..?

I wonder how long it will take for the consulate to book an appointment for us.

    Do you have any idea?

    Thanks!

So I got the email today that my interview is scheduled for June 30 at 1030am.

I also had had the operator tell me to press option 5 after waiting 30 minutes on the phone.

Need to find and schedule a medical appointment and get that out of the way!

    Thanks @danni_xo !

Had we have known that this move to the US was happening, we would have gone the K-1 route while we were still engaged. That ship has now sailed and it seems the K-3 visa also has...

The TN visa is a NAFTA temporary work visa that allows citizens of Canada and Mexico to work temporarily (meaning it is not dual-intent and the visa holder doesn't intend to apply for a green card). There are certain job certifications that are covered by the visa (ie. professional certifications) and we thought that would be the easier route if we only plan on living in the US for ~3 years.

I've worked under the TN status for 3 years.

The issue is that if you're crossing back and forth with your spouse and they question the relationship between you and spouse, they could possibly deny you entry. If you apply for CR1 or K3 (basically obsolete) and TN at the same time, they will most probably deny you the TN as they'll see that there is a pending application. The TN states that you have no intent to immigrate to the US and if they have doubt that you're living there with your spouse, they will deny you easily.

For this reason, I decided to leave the country and apply for CR1 as I didn't want any issues.

Adjustment of Status is pretty much out of the question also.

  15. Just to update everyone.

My birth certificate was the older version that didn't contain my parents information on it. I placed an order for the new updated version.

I created a letter stating that I am in the process of ordering the letter and with my wife being pregnant to proceed with the processing. I noted that I would promise to bring the new birth certificate to the interview.

Got a message a few hours later that my documents were "DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED". If anyone is going through a similar situation, I would recommend this route.

Now I await for the interview date and will schedule a medical exam.

Yesterday, I asked an agent to put me through to a supervisor.

A supervisor whose name is Sean explained my situation with more details.

The 'new' system that the agent previously talked about was the new CEAC upload system.

And since I am eligible for the new system,  my case was dealt differently when it came to assignment of a case number. So even though my case arrived there on May 3, the 'new' system recognized my file was scanned on May 15. Hence, I am still in the right time frame as Sean explained over the phone.

Then I asked why other eligible people such as you guys still received the case number without any problem. He said "every case is different."

    Alright.

So, I do not trust everything that NVC said to me about this issue. Maybe they found my file that was floating around in their office on May 15. However, I asked myself what else I could do if I don't believe it. I'll wait a week more until it hits 2 weeks from May 15.

    Wish me luck :)

    Have a great day guys.

Sorry to hear this. It's unfortunate that NVC can't get their act together sometimes.

But like everyone says, it's a waiting game with them.

I submitted my civil documents yesterday and now await their "case closed"

  17. 15 hours ago, Cat_Dad said:

I finally submitted my AOS package on Friday. Today, I received an email from the NVC telling me I was "Documentarily Qualified" and that they were going to organize an interview time at the Sydney consulate. So I guess this is what you would call "Case Complete" in the old process?

    Yeah. I would assume so.

This process seems so much better for everyone in the new system.

I'm sorry to hear that you forgot to apply for police clearance in advance but as you said, we are really lucky to be in this system and saved a lot of time already.

It is really interesting that you found out we can actually upload files individually instead of all in once and get them approved first.

and yes, I hope we all get an interview date in a month or two after uploading all the documents.

Thank you for the fast reply Finayyy.

Once we upload civil and AOS documents, do we have to call NVC to check if the documents are approved or a status on the website will automatically change to "Approved" a few days later?

Once you hit submit, the status will change to submitted. Once they've approved it, it will automatically become Approved.

I just wanted to say thanks to @Cat_Dad and @Finayyy for sharing your process.

I am sorry that I have nothing to share with you guys but I am expecting to get my case number later today because it has been exactly 2 weeks now.

It doesn't seem difficult until I pay fees and upload all the documents, however, what matters now is how long it will take for them to approve the case (as known as Case complete) and send it to a corresponding embassy.

    Thank you again.

    No problem.

We are lucky to be apart of this new system as things move quickly.

I made the stupid mistake of waiting to get the police clearance ( I found out yesterday that it available for pick up after May 23). Otherwise, I would have all my civic documents ready.

One thing I found out today was that you can submit documents individually into the system and have them approve it without having to wait til everything is ready. Example, my wife got all her AOS and joint sponsor paperwork together and submitted yesterday and got notification that it was accepted. Once I get my clearance and submit it, I believe I should be getting an interview date the following month or two.

  20. 6 hours ago, Cat_Dad said:

So I received an email this morning saying that the NVC have sent me a message and that I needed to log into in the CEAC website. I logged in and couldn't find any messages.

I called the NVC to ask about it, and two different representatives told me that they couldn't find my case number in the system. One asked me if it was filed directly to the embassy.

I gave the second person I spoke to my UCSIS receipt number, and he said that to him it looks like they have received my package, but haven't entered it into the system.

I wonder if this CEAC system sends the documents directly to the embassy? I'm not sure what my next step about this message I was supposed to receive. I guess I will file our AOS and hope for the best.

I also got the same thing as you. But I emailed the email box that I was given and the representative told me that they recieved my IV application and accepted it.
