  1. Did you even read ANYTHING that wayno posted? You need a VISA in order to get a visa number! duh...

Its not about the bank, its about money laundering... thats why for any account or debit card or check card.. a name and valid social or tax id number is necessary...

Trying to get all paperwork in order for my I-130 and would like to show proof as in joint accounts. I added her name to my account in Costa Rica and just got my credit card company to add her to my account, but all I think they'll do is send another card in her name. Went to my main bank here in the U.S. and they need her social security number????????? Of course she doesn't have one. That bank says there is no way I can add her to my account. how does one add a name anywhere on someones account when they need a social security number to do it------of course they need the proof of a joint account to help get thbe VISA before they can get the number. Thanks.

Get your bank clerk to try harder. A passport and visa number is all that the U.S. requires but some bank clerks are stricter. Upper management needs to be involved.

Apply for a Tax id number with an IRS Form. You'll need a copy of her passport and her birth certificate... in 6-8 weeks they mail you her tax id number.

  3. I guess my phone is magical then because i get through and speak to an OFFICER not a cust. serv rep... every single tuesday.. it's my routine. So...

There is NO way to call a service center, all you can do is call National Customer Service.

    THAT IS NOT TRUE

i've posted here before EXACTLY HOW TO TALK TO SOMEONE AT YOUR SERVICE CENTER... Certain prompts allow you to be directly connected to a VSC Officer WITHOUT first talking to a customer service rep.

For the 3rd TIME i will post it again:

    Call the 1-800 375-5283

    Option 1,

    Option 2,

    Option 1, receipt number

    Option 1,

Option 3, Wait for "If our system"

    Option 4,

EXPEDITE – Option 6 (INSTEAD OF OPTION 4)

this will connect you to an officer at VSC

mrc...this option doesn't work anymore and hence my query...I reckon I should be glad that my file's been touched once when they first seemed to have paired them. *sarcasm*

  5. Realistically... what would happen if he were to overstay his tourist visa, he's married to a US Citizen, he didnt enter illegally, he has a pending I-130... Can't he just apply for adjustment of status? There are no provisions in the LIFE Act that account for this?

I am american my fiancè is Italian!! We want to marry in america! Can we just marry on a tourist visa!! He can stay for 3 months do I really need to submit the I-129F? he can come without it! I thought this document was used for people who need a tourist visa to enter... Do I need this document throughout the other processes for the K3 Visa

No, he can come and you can be married.... however he cannot stay past his authorized 3 months... The K-3 is for already married people who wish to have there spouse immigrate to the US

Right, if he can get here, you can marry here. He must not overstay. You then follow the spouse visa process of your choice. You start by filing an I-130. You can do that as soon as you are married or anytime after, whenever you're ready. I would encourage you to consider the CR1 visa process instead of the K3. There's lots of discussion on that.

One or two people will probably post that you can't get married on a tourist visa. Ignore them because they are simply wrong. What you can't do on a tourist visa is marry and then stay to immigrate. Marrying isn't the problem. Immigrating is.

  6. its sad how people with Extraordinary ability, athletes, artists and "entertainers" get priority over our spouses...

here are the processing times for those applications:

    I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker O - Extraordinary ability May 31, 2008

I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker P - Athletes, artists, and entertainers May 31, 2008

    its hard to digest!

You're incorrect... if you're Angelina Jolie.. then you can bring whoever you want as fast as you want relative or not, USC or not, no A/R, no wait times, no processing times...... and then sell pictures of them to make money on immigration instead of lose it like all of US.

  7. I just wanna see some approvals... get the ball rolling.. gather some momentum

I think there should be a way to have VJ automatically notify you whenever ANYONE gets approved for the petitions you have in your timeline at the service center where your petitions are...

    that would be really cool.

anybody else in favor of this?

I mean all we do is come on here and get worked up..vent...say things we shouldnt, or dont really mean.

  8. You clearly do not understand what the N600 is...

The primary benneficiaries of the N-600 are ones who have not attained the age of majority and therefore are not yet eligible to vote. Therefore N-600 processing push because of an election year are not even closely related.

    You said it.

Out of the 39,000 NEW citizens... you dont' ONE of those was a child... not one? Isnt it also a coincidence that the N600 and the K3/K4 petitions have the same processing date... It looks like they are working on those N600's just as much as the N400.. i mean think about it.. if it was really that insignificant then there wouldnt be such a backlog on the N600... but apparently there's a lot... and apparently theres so many new citizens that there's even press releases for them....

When was the last time you saw.. - WASHINGTON--- 40,000 CR1's were approved today, USCIS is doing all it can to unite families worldwide.

    NEVER

Votes and citizenship is more important to USCIS then the people who mow their lawn and pay the high fees of family reunification.

USCIS Welcomes More Than 39,000 New Citizens during Constitution Week and Citizenship Day

WASHINGTON – More than 39,000 individuals will become new citizens of the United States this week during special ceremonies hosted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to recognize Constitution Week. Naturalization ceremonies held September 17 through September 23 commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.

HOW MUCH MORE OBVIOUS CAN IT BE.... is that good enough proof for you fwaguy, Gigli2008 ? ? ?

I think the only confusion is with the document names.

The N600 is an application for Certificate of Citizenship. This form is used by children who claim US citizenship by having a US Citizen parent but they were born outside the US.

The post above deals with Naturalization which is the N400 application.

the documents are closely named, but they serve two different purposes...

regardless... i hope Vermont starts to become efficient in how they process petitions :)

  10. I did NOT say that VSC should stop doing all other things in order to work only on my case or only on K3s. This would be really silly. Maybe I didn't make myself clear... I don't want people in your situation to suffer just because they are only processing K3s... Same way I don't want us (k3s) to suffer because they are processing any other visa or petition instead! I just said that they could organize themselves not to stop K3s and CR1s from being processed due to the other petitions they have to handle. This is a simple concept, but I don't know what stops them from doing it.

I am very aware that the whole immigration process, until you become a citizen, takes a long time, but honestly that doesn't bother me as much as it bothers me to be thousands of miles far away from my husband for 6 months already. Once I'm with him, I can take the rest of the wait for the other papers. If you are not happy with their delay reagarding your case, you have the right to complain, contact ombudsman, cry, shout, do whatever you feel like doing. Just as we do.

I've pulled up a chair to seat and wait, since there are not many things I can do about it. However, I'm not waiting quiet, because keeping bad feelings inside may cause a lot of serious health problems. This is kind of scientific.

So... don't let your frustrations affect the way you read posts. It is nothing personal. We just wish things were different. Good for everybody...

I don't know exactly what that petition is, or if it has economic or political reasons to be put in front of us. What I know is that VSC should have planned beforehand and organized themselves not to have such a big delay and disparity between them and CSC that is completely unfair. It doesn't matter if they have several other types of petitions to work on, they could have redistributed their tasks or even transferred more people to CSC. There is always a way to be efficient when you plan or have good management of unpredictable situations (which I don't think was the case). I'm not saying they don't know what they are doing, but from what we can see, what they are doing right now is not working properly. CSC seems to be working pretty fine even with the VSC tranfers they have received... So, there is a way to make it work. They just have to put effort on it!

Ah! by the way, someone mentioned something similar to this "election thing" in another thread a few weeks ago, but the discussion brought up the fact that it takes more than 1 month to process that petition, so at this point, people wouldn't be ready to vote anyway! So, why should they bother processing them right now since the people will only be able to vote on the next years...

This is so funny reading your posts, if only you had been around a few years back when we first started our journey you would have seen that everyone wanted to have their cases sent to VSC as they were the fastest of them all, they were never behind and all applications for the 100's of visa types were handled in a timely fasion. now things are diffrent and everyone is demanding the VSC should work on their type of case and let others sit waiting.

Have a look around VJ and see how long people who filed for Removal of Conditions are having to wait, well over 1 year. Look at how long people are having to wait for all sorts of benefits at VSC. Some of us at the end of our visa journey have been dealing with this immigration stuff for well over 5 years, so please just stop to think about what you are saying, yes everyone want their part to be approved as soon as possible and finds it frustrating to have to wait, but that is how it works. Some get approved faster than others and there is nothing you or the Ombudsman can do about it.

So pull up a chair and take a seat, you are in for a long ride.

i agree with Monica&Isha  . i cud give 2 s**ts and a rat's a** about AOS and removal of conditions after my wife gets here. yes, we have to worry about it but its not going to be the first and last thing on my mind..we have our lives to deal with it...atleast she will be here with me and we will go for it together...

Sooo true... i could care less if my wife and baby sky-dived out of a plane into a bare ### field and i had to pick them up like that... but at least they would be HERE with me, we'd be together. I mean... USCIS and the dept of homeland security sit there and wonder how to fix the illegal immigration problems... IDIOTS! If it wasnt so damn hard for people to LEGALLY get here maybe they'd try it the legal way....

  11. Some of these people have been waiting a long time to become citizens. Their needs are also important. And they want to be able to have a say in this election. Why shouldn't they? The presidential election only comes once every 4 years. If people believe their vote really counts, they want to cast it. (Whether it really does count is another matter entirely.)

I don't believe bombarding the ombudsman or anyone else is going to produce the kind of movement that you advocate. He's got zero power for one thing, and for another, the right to vote *does* take precidence over family unity by a fair amount in this country.

Non-citizen petitions should NEVER take precedence over ANY citizens petition regardless if its a petition for permission to blow snot into the wind.

  12. I noticed something while looking at the processing times on USCIS. VSC and CSC both report more or less the same times but we ALL know that CSC is waaaaay ahead of theirs.. and VSC is not even close to February 2, 2008. However i noticed WHY? VSC processes a specific petition that CSC does not...

    The N600.

Clearly an election year, pressure from the candidates, pressure from our own senators who lie to us about how they cant do anything to help us. Its clear that for aliens to be able to vote is more important that family unity. I guess USCIS thinks it's organized in SLAMMING one service center to to do all of the work while the other one approves petitions sent in July. We need to bombard the Ombudsman for ever week that we dont see at least 10 approvals. If we are sad and bothered and frustrated so should they.

  13. After I paid at Delbros, (I haven't paid yet as I don't know when to pay) does that mean I am still going to wait for my appointment letter? How will they send it to me? Oh my gosh and I am planning to schedule the interview on the 30th or 31st of October just before our application with USCIS expires. It was approved on July 18th means it's going to expire on the the 18th of November? Is this right? What should I do if the DV (is this Document verification?) won't be finished and I wont receive my Appointment letter before my scheduled interview and before USCIS approved application expires?

I really need help as my anxiety is raising up now that it's close to the expiration of USCIS application and all I thought was that calling ESEM will be the last thing that I will do before medical and interview. Wow. Im very stressed now.

    Thanks for helping really.

    God bless.

I really don't know what I'm doing. And I'm so glad to have joined this forum, it really helps alot.

People wait months sometimes years for their petitions to be approved... they finally approve yours and you sleep on it and then ask for help? Good LUCK!

  14. Dont worry, it really doesnt matter that we dont have the stats for the petitions NOT on VJ... It's USCIS's fault that they dont publish a detailed report of how many recieved by month, approvals per month.... NOTHING. And by the way.. that whole USCIS not being transparent with the very people that fund their paychecks has been brought up to the Ombudsman MILLIONS OF TIMES. They arent transparent because they are f'in LIARS.

Very nice to see a meaningful response. I will also follow your foot steps and e-mail a similar response. Hope to see a similar personalized reply.

My response today to their canned reply:

The research and description that is provided in 2008 annual report does not address the issue that I have mentioned below. Please READ the e-mail and understand the issue before trying to offer a solution or response that is completely irrelevant to the issue at hand.

Please please have VSC work on K-3 applications as they not approved a SINGLE petition since 3 weeks and have gone BACKWARDS in their processing time. Our experience with VSC has been simply ridiculous as the center's operations has made a mockery of the greatness that this country argues to stand on.

My husband will send our email tonight. We wanted to plan exactly what we are going to say since we cannot affirm VSC has not approved NO one at all. We only have the data from VJ. But on the letter we wrote, we mentioned the problem of VSC having a BIG majority still waiting and also the injustice due to CSC much faster approvals. Probably we'll get a similar response, but at least they will know that lots of us are not satisfied and willing to do something about it.

Oh well, I still have high hopes for September! Maybe next week...

  15. Got some replies:

The research and data provided in the 2008 Annual report HAS NOTHING TO DO with my complaint. Please! Instead of copy-pasting this canned response, DO YOUR JOB. This is not about K3's being administratively closed, or separated or joined, or filing fee...

This is about VSC not doing ANYTHING.

    Dear Mr. Mendoza,

We have received several similar emails regaridn the IR1/CRI and K3 processing concerns at the VSC. Thank you for your email advising our office about this important issue. If you have a specific case problem that you would like our office to research, please visit our website for information on how to submit a case problem using DHS Form 7001. www.dhs.gov/ cisombudsman /. For privacy reasons, we require written consent before we can research your case.

We will look into the VSC issue as it appears to be a systematic problem. The CIS Ombudsman assists individuals and employers who experience specific problems during the USCIS benefits seeking process, largely to identify problems and to formulate recommendations to improve the USCIS service. I believe that first hand information from individuals like you is the best source for identifying systemic problems in the immigration benefits process. My office will consider the information you provided as we develop recommendations to improve USCIS’ practices and procedures.

My office has researched the K3 visa process and discussed it in our 2008 Annual Report to Congress. We also held a teleconference on this topic and have posted our Q&A on our website. To learn more information about the CIS Ombudsman Office, please visit www.dhs.gov/ombudsman.

Please note that CIS Ombudsman is independent from USCIS and cannot adjudicate immigration applications or serve as a substitute for the legal options offered by USCIS to correct a problem. It is outside the authority of the CIS Ombudsman to grant or reverse a denial of an immigration benefit.

Thank you again for your time and input.

    CIS Ombudsman Office

So now we know they actually read replies and follow up with the email at least to the point of not just copy-pasting responses...

lets blow that email.. load it with complaints and phone calls too!

  16. I read the stupid annual report... nothing important... anything thats written in the report about K3's or I130 is already old news. Completely useless and "canned response" for Ombudsman's office to refer to the report.

    #######

How about we flood CNN's mailbox with our story as well? This will give us the media attention. Media is a strong catalyst.

What do you guys and gals think?

    what is their contact information?

  17. Just sent the email also... represented us as a whole, made it more personal but still added everything from the template and used the same subject also. Also added the thing about HOW IN THE HELL DO TIMELINES GO BACKWARDS... also added that the only couple of K3's and CR1 that have gotten approved are probably Expedites.

I read on external forum that a group of people waiting for employment based green card applicants complained to Ombudsman about slow response rate from NSC in early 2007. Many people complained together by sending e-mails. About 3 weeks following the flurries of comments, NSC started approving cases. Many people saw approvals even in weekends.

I think it is time for us to come together and e-mail CIS Ombudsman. We can all have a e-mail format without any case details and then send it one by one demanding immediate attention to IR1/CR1 and K-3 applicants who have been unreasonably waiting. This should get VSC working fast. CSC applicants who have filed in July are getting approved now but VSC filers are in serious dilemma.

I can post that link if allowed to post external links here.

    What do you all think???

now that we might be getting this ball rolling, do u think we can somehow get some media attention to this as well?

This is another good idea. The TV is nowadays one of the "powers" we have in society.

  18. While I agree that each letter should be different, each letter SHOULD have something that lets the Ombudsman know that he cant just single us out one by one and that we will go to the press as ONE if he doesnt adhere to VSC and our complaint. There needs to be UNITY otherwise we will just join the million complaints they already recieve. perhaps everyone include a copy of the spreadsheet and BOLD their name. If everyone did that it would be pretty dramatic and they wont be able to say, you're within processing times. Cause it would show all the people who got approved OUTSIDE and before the processing times.

    Our strength is in numbers.

now. Refiled Jan. 09 this year. One month

ago got sent a noa saying it went from Vermont to CA.

Almost one month to the day CA sent our approved

I-130. Anyone else had this happen?

please help your fellow VJers by filling out the timeline

this has happened to others and i am sure you'll get responses.

please help your fellow VJers by filling out the timeline

  20. Hi, fellow VJ`s, I am just curious about some who received RFE, why they asks for RFE? does it mean that filers did`t enclosed evidences when they sent their package of I129 F? what`s behind RFE? when my fiance sent our package we included all the evidences such as pics, boarding passes, tickets, etc. Is it good enough? or they might asks from us additional RFE? Kindly explain to me why some issued for RFE. Don`t know much about this thing. Thanks in advance!!!! God bless!

i WISH i got an RFE.. at least it means your file is assigned to an adjudicator. I call every week and the only thing they can tell me is my I130 and K3 are combined and that they are still pending, and NO, they are not assigned to an adjudicator yet.

  21. Please see my timelines below: Can anyone tell if my files were merged?

most likely it was merged in July... that touch is there for no reason..

that must be it. But keep calling VSC and you might get a detailed response... remember out of all of the USCIS employees there are probably only about 10% that actually care about the service they provide, and only about 5% of those are willing to tell you the truth!
