Hi, I also posted this in the MENA forum, but just in case.......I want to be there with my fiance for his K-1 interview, does anyone know if Cairo allows the USC fiance to attend the interview?
thanks

Hi, does anyone know if Cairo allows the USC fiance petitioner to be at the window for the K-1 interview? I'm planning to go there on vacation to be with him anyway on that date, even if I can't go inside with him.
thanks everyone.

That's great news! However, i'm watching cnn now and they have a good point, many visas have been revoked and now people will need to re-apply so much trouble! I wonder if there is a way for those people to sue Trump for this inconvenience
I'm watching, too.....it would seem if they have the visa in hand and unless there was a formal revocation in writing, their visa should still be valid? I'm wondering how they would know if their visa is revoked....it would be great if this current ban cancelled out any revocations of their visas.

Hi All,
My fiance is an Egyptian national and though Egypt is not on the list as one of the 7 countries, there are rumors that it will be added soon. Anyone else here apply or applying for a K1 visa and has had any movement in their application since the EO was signed last Friday (Jan 27th)? My fear is that even if Egypt is not added, that our application will take even longer because we are both Muslim and I am also originally from Egypt but am an American citizen now. So we will get "extra vetting"
I'm also Muslim with a Muslim first and last name, but I'm originally born in the USA. I don't think you will get extra vetting, you are a USC now, so you are not adjusting status yourself anymore, and Egypt is not on the ban list.
I plan on sending in our application in April after I get back from visiting him during spring break. Have you already sent in your application? Maybe our timelines will be similar. Stay positive

I don't know why, but I still have the feeling it may not happen as Egypt and the US have worked for many years on counter-terrorism operations, work together on protecting the boarder with Israel, and every year have joint military training. President El-Sisi is a very big fan of President Trump, and from what the media here in Egypt says, their relationship is quite rock solid. So... with that being said... we still don't know, it's 50/50 at the moment.
I believe this to be true also....my fiance says jokingly that El-Sisi and Trump are so similar. I agree, we just need to keep looking ahead, proceed with our petitions and think positive........try not to think about what negatives might happen.

I feel that Trump is just flexing his muscles and showing off, especially to his people and the media that I did what I promised during my campaign. But he is only flexing his muscles on the weak ones, can he flex his muscles on Russia? I dont think so, just like he flexed his muscles before on Cuba, seriously, Cuba? The country that probably can't feed its citizens. Anyway, what I believe is that this thing wont last, the only thing he cant get away with is the Syrian refugees ban. Also a ban on GC holders? I dont think so, one of the LPR is that you have the right to live and work in the USA, untill this law changes, nothing much can be done. The reason he signed this on a Friday has also a purpose, he wants most of his people to see it on the media during the weekends. Next week things will be different, hopefully.
this is my gut feeling

I'm planning a trip to visit my fiance in Egypt in April......even though i'm a natural born USC, the fact that I have a Muslim first and last name.....i feel like i should bring a copy of my American birth certificate with me to travel in & out of here.

I am a naturalized U.S citizen of Pakistani origin. I have lived in the U.S for over 20 years. My wife is a Pakistani and Belgian citizen currently visiting my in-laws in Belgium with our almost 2 year old U.S born and citizen son. She has a 10 year green card and has been away from the U.S since Nov and is returning next week. After watching the news today I am worried they will not be let back into the country. She travels on her Belgian passport and grew up there since she was an baby. Is it safe to assume she won't encounter any troubles coming in? Should she be prepared for extra vetting at the airport? Should she first contact the U.S embassy in Brussels before traveling to get the waiver I have read about? It is hard to discern so far if only green card holders from the 7 affected nations have to get the waiver or do all U.S green card holders outside the U.S need to get the waiver after serving out the 90 day ban. I apologize if this has already been answered.
Pakistan is not on the list of 7 countries so she should be fine (let's pray no more countries get added!).........someone correct me if I'm wrong.

There are articles stating that green card holders will be allowed back in after additional screening.
what a waste of time and manpower at the airports.....they're already legally allowed to be here but at least they're getting in as they should be.

My Yemeni husband was issued a visa on Thursday, the day before this Order was signed No words can describe how it feels to be targeted like this for absolutely no reason. You can all sigh in relief if you like, but I do not wish this feeling on anyone. Truly crushed.
My heart goes out to you and everyone effected - I"m praying and staying hopeful that this total insanity will stop.

this whole thing today seems INSANE....I feel like I'm living on another planet right now just trying to comprehend how this country's government is letting this happen. The next couple of days will be very interesting to see if he backslides on any of his bans, especially current LPRs.

To refuse entry to greencard holders who have ALREADY been through the vetting process and have their lives, families and jobs here........this is DISGUSTING and UNAMERICAN, This is not what America stands for, I have no words.............

For now you're fine, but more countries might be added to the "ban list", we don't know yet.
True, let's hope more don't get added........

Thanks for sharing your conversation with NVC, Amy, i really hope that information stays true for all of us! I feel bad for anyone applying from one of the banned countries, though. All the best for you both.

I'm just starting the K-1 process with my fiance from Egypt, but today's news (Friday 1/27/17) about Trump's new immigration executive orders has me wondering if all MENA countries visa processing/interviewing are now going to be severely affected, not just the banning of the 7 main countries on the hot list (Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia & Yemen).
I mean, they already do extensive background checks during the immigrant visa process, what else could they possibly check that they don't already?
I know we just have to wait for specific facts or rules to be announced, but is anyone else concerned that all MENA countries' visa applications are going to get really slowed down or even suspended?

thank you everyone

Ok, so those other documents (passport photo, birth cert, etc.) will be sent by my fiance in Packet 3.............I didn't see any info on Packet 3 in the K-1 guidelines.....
-
Hi everyone,
I've read the K-1 checklist and instructions of which documents to send, but I was surprised and wanted to make sure that we don't have to send a copy of the beneficiary's passport and/or birth certificate. Just a passport photo and statement of intent to marry from him?
Thanks for any clarification.
Cairo only - is petitioner allowed with fiance at interview?

No, not yet, we're just getting started on everything and planning my 2 visits in April & June, plus attending the interview with him inshallah when it's time. We know the more visits the better, including at the interview - I'm glad they let the USC inside to attend
All the best to you both also!
