By the time you get to the interview you will be all paid up, except for the fee mentioned above, but it's not required to come in the POE.   Just faster for SS# and green card.

Okay, perfect! Thank you so much!

  2. Hey everyone,

Here is yet another question that I have....(And I'm sure that it's been asked a million times but so far all I can seem to find are answers from a few years ago). What fees are there to pay after the medical exam?

Is there a fee before/during the interview?

I know there is the USCIS Immigrant Fee to pay after the interview, but the website doesn't say how much it is.

                         Does anyone know?

I also feel like I read something before about a "Point of Entry" fee. What is that and how much would it be?

Or, if someone could at the very least point me to an updated resource that lists all of the remaining fees, that would be super helpful as well.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Hey everyone,

We are awaiting our upcoming interview and thinking about airline prices.

A friend of ours gave us the tip of buying a round-trip ticket (to the U.S., then back to Peru), since those are usually less expensive than one-way tickets. We would buy the return trip for as far in advance as possible (say, April 2018 for example).

My question is this: When my husband is going through at his POE, will they check his tickets to see whether they are round-trip or one-way? If they saw that he had a return flight to Peru for later on next year, would they find this suspicious? Or would explaining that he wants to visit Peru in April and will buy a return ticket to the U.S. at a later time be good enough? I don't want him to have any potential problems.

    Any insight helps, thanks!

The ban is saying people from certain countries are not allowed visas.  As a US person you can leave the US anytime you wish and live in whatever place you go to. Nothing is keeping you from doing that.  It is rather like falling in love with a registered sex offender if you live next to a school.  You are free to move at any time.

It is not like falling in love with a registered sex offender. It's like someone saying that all the people in the registered sex offender's neighborhood must also be sex offenders because they live nearby, and then falling in love with one of those neighbors.

  5. Yep, it's totally okay.

I'm doing the same thing, waiting for my husband here in Peru until his visa comes through (: I'm also working remotely.

I got a joint sponsor from the U.S. to help with the affidavit of support, but if your husband's income meets the requirements, you might not need that.

It might also be a good idea to send all mail to a trusted person who can alert you when USCIS sends mail and whom you trust to open it and read it for you. (For example, all of my mail gets sent to my parents house and they know to let me know as soon as anything arrives from the NVC or USCIS.) There are some things that don't get sent via email during the USCIS stage, such as a notice of transfer to a different service center (mine got transferred from Nebraska to Texas) or a notice of any information that is incorrect or missing on the I-130.

That was a quick case complete after 2nd scan date! Even after the 1st scan date lol. Congratsss

Yes, I feel very lucky that the checklist arrived so quickly!

I believed that the checklist was received in error/was a misunderstanding from the NVC's point of view, so I called like every day and asked to talk to multiple supervisors.

They still want me to bring in new paperwork, but they are at least going to let me bring it straight to the interview since I'm not in the U.S, but here in Peru with my husband. Which is a HUGE blessing.

I get to have my baby in the USA! yaaaaaaay!!

You don’t have to wait for case complete to request an expedite but every embassy and county is different

Right. I did already requested the expedite. The embassy replied that they themselves would not review my case, but rather they informed me that they would expedite the case AFTER I receive my CC from the NVC. Therefore, in my case I do need to wait for the CC.

It sounds like in your case the expedite meant that the case (AOS and IV packets) would be reviewed and completed at the embassy. Correct?

I think our situations are different.

  8. Hey everyone,

I got the kind of expedite from my embassy that says that they will expedite the case after I get a CC at the NVC

My question is: How long does it usually take to actually get the expedited interview after a CC?  I'm guessing at least a week delay to get the paperwork from the NVC, and another week for the medical exam etc.

Also, does the NVC do the scheduling, or does the embassy?

Has anyone else had this type of expedite?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello VJ Fam so my husband still lives at home with his father, he waiting for me to move back to the US before we buy a house. Would his father have to also submit an AOS and provide financial evidence; Even tho he's not going to be a joint sponsor ?

Does your husband file taxes independently or did his father list him as a dependent on his taxes?

If he files independently, has no other large financial ties to your father, and his income alone meets the requirements, then no, he should just submit his own affidavit of support and that will be fine.

If he filed taxes in any way with his father, than his father will have to file an I-864A as a household member of your husband.

However, I'm not sure if he would count his father in the number of total household members on his I-864.

Definitely call the NVC to confirm, as each case is different and they will know best how to answer your question. They are usually pretty good at helping clarify this kind of stuff. In my opinion, they are much better to talk to than the USCIS was.

Please can someone tell me if I am doing this correctly. I received  the IIN and case number when I called the NVC yesterday. I login into Ceac with the case number and the IIN  and its keeps giving me the information. -----"Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error.

    Please advise.

You've probably already checked that you're entering the numbers correctly.

It sounds like you just need to call the NVC

Thank you for the help. Your input helped me a lot and removed my doubts. I now have a clear understanding of it. .. I've been reading about I-864 for the past few days . .double checking stuffs...my wife has a job but the pay is not that high and the w2 she had is from last year which that time she got a job on sept 2016 . .

By "last year" do you mean 2015 or 2016? Has she filed for 2016? Because she will need to.

Also, I understand needing one joint sponsor, but I was just wondering why you need the help of both aunts? I'm just thinking it would be much more simple to use only one, if possible.

Also, make sure you make it VERY clear who your wife lives with and who she doesn't. I would maybe even suggest adding a letter that clarifies this information:

Your Wife = Sponsor, files I-864

The aunt she lives with = household member, files I-864A

The aunt she doesn't live with = joint sponsor, files I-864

Just a suggestion because my case is currently backed up because they were confused over this in my paperwork.

Hi all ! Checking in for my father in law's timeline

AOS and IV docs scan date: 08/14/2017

Received a checklist via e-mail on Monday: only thing on list is Mexico Police Certificate, which we are suppose to present at the interview in Juarez.

I haven't yet called in to verify that if this means we have a Case Complete, but i have checked the the ceac website, Case status is back to "at NVC" and AOS line is gone.

Is this the trend for Juarez ? If checklist only includes Police Certificate, it means case complete ?

    I don't know if it's a trend for Juarez, but that's a CC--Congratulations!

That's really nice that you can bring the document to the interview instead of having to send it to the NVC to review.

    im the beneficiary . .

my wife is going to be the sponsor then her aunts(2) will be the joint sponsor

1 joint sponsor lives with my wife, the other lives in a diff area

Why do you all need two joint sponsors? Does it not reach the income limit with just one?

Also, if you wife lives with one of them then that aunt would be considered the household member and would file an I-864A.

So, it should look like this:
Your Wife = Sponsor, files I-864

The aunt she lives with = household member, files I-864A

The aunt she doesn't live with = joint sponsor, files I-864

NOTE: That is if the aunts and/or your wife don't fit into the I-864B or I-864C. I don't remember what the requirements for those are, but the details are all on the NVC website. You'll have to carefully read through them to double check.

    HELLO!

can anyone help on what form of I-1864 to use for joint sponsorship?or will NVC provide I-1864 . .

    thanks . .

NVC doesn't provide anything to you directly. You have to be very self-sufficient in this processes. It really all depends on your actions and searching for the information that's already out their.

The I-864 forms can be downloaded from the official NVC site: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Step_4_Collect_Financial_Documents.html Use the directions on that site for every step of the way. Also, as some have said, use the directions that have been provided at the beginning of this forum.

BUT as far as joint sponsorship goes....who are you using as your joint sponsor? I've recently found out these tips from experience:
    1) A joint sponsor is ONLY considered as a joint sponsor if you do not live with them. In this case, both you and the joint sponsor will file an I-864.
    2) If your joint sponsor lives with you, consider them as your "household member." You file an I-864, and the household member files an I-864A.

    Hope that helps!

  15. Checking in:

Good news...my checklist MIGHT just be a misunderstanding! They thought that I lived with my parents so they thought it was an error when my dad filled as "Sponsor" not realizing that he is a joint sponsor, instead of my household member. All I had to do was send a confirmation letter stating that I don't live with my parents. So HOPEFULLY they will process it quickly!

So, TIP FOR YOU ALL: If you have a joint sponsor that you don't live with, be sure to include a statement that very clearly states that the joint sponsor is indeed a joint sponsor and NOT your household member.

    I hope that's not confusing...haha

    Good luck to us all!!

  16. Okay, so I just double checked the PDF that my parents filled out, and I believe that I erroneously received this checklist. Everything IS filled out as directed....and I am 100% sure that all of the signatures WERE filled out by hand, not by electronic signature as this checklist claims....If I call them to say that I received this in error will they listen?

Otherwise, my parents would just be sending the exact same thing all over again!

don't despair.. I got a checklist as well on our 864a.. it is a bummer but it only took 3 week (that included sending, receiving, reviewing, and closing our case).  Now, we are quickly approaching our interview in a couple of weeks.  I leave for india to accompany him in 6 days😀

    Yaaay, that's so exciting! Congratulations!

I really hope it only takes 3 weeks (or less, by a miracle!) because I want to have my baby in the U.S. WITH my husband there so bad!
