  1. I mean 25% of marriages end in divorce within 5 years. That shouldnt even come up in a legal and compliant world since we have removed conditions on the i751 form and provided plenty of evidence then, we didnt even have an interview for the ROC. But, nowadays anything can come up. The incident was disclosed during initial AOS and again during ROC because as you can probably tell, anxiety is a thing here.  Just really wondering if i should just do it myself or hire a lawyer to assist with the process.

  2. I was arrested for driving on a suspended way before I got my GC, charge got dropped to an infraction, this happened in 2015 I got my GC in 2018 through marriage. First wife filed for divorce, and I remarried to another US citizen since then and we have a baby on the way. Turns out I’m scared of traveling and also of doing my citizenship. Please enlighten me on what I’m in for during the administration. I really wanna get my citizenship done and be over with it.

    thank you!

  3. I am filing under 5 year rule, am divorced, me and wife separated in December 2020 and divorce filed in April. When I did my taxes for 2020 I did them almost late in April and since we were separated I filed as single. Would that be an issue if asked for tax transcripts during interview? Should I stil have filed as married even tho at the time of filing we were separated?

It's unlikely you're going to be asked much about marriage when applying for N-400 under 5 year rule.

But you alway may be asked about it. Be prepared to talk about it using short, direct answers.

If you're worried, you can always bring a lawyer to the interview. A good lawyer will point out irrelevant questions to IO if IO gets too curious.

Thank you for your response. Based on your forum activity you are almost an immigration lawyer if not one already! Im a nervous nancy and might bring one with me to my interview.

  5. Good morning Folks, i just wanted some opinions on my case, it might be nothing to worry about but i am a chronic worrier. My timeline is as follows.

Married Us citizen in August 2016

Got Conditional Green Card in Feb 2018

Applied for I751 jointly ROC in Feb 2020

Got 10 year green card in Nov 2020 without any interview for ROC

Relationship wasnt goin good, wife filed for divorce on april 2021 and it was finalized may 2021.

Met the love of my life and remarried in December 2022, also a USC.

Now i am looking to apply for my citizenship and worrying about what can be asked about my first marriage, we were married for almost 5 years, covid put a big strain on the relationship and on new years eve she told me she had met someone else and wanted to put her happiness first and do what made her happy for the new year and asked me to leave the apartment.

    Any insights would be welcomed!

Congrats! Did you guys have an interview? What was your initial visa before receiving your conditional green card?

So mine was an adjustment of status case, I entered the country on a tourist visa. I had the i485 interview before we got the conditional green card and we got called for a second interview before that was approved, but when we got to that second interview they told us it was a mistake and that they were approving us. Two years later we applied for the condition removal in January and now we got approved without interview for the i751
