  1. Hi guys!! I am now relaxed and brave enough to share with you guys about my interview yesterday because my status hasn't changed anything after the interview. This is how the interview went. We got to the USCIS Santa Ana 15 mins before my appointment which was at 12:00pm. The waiting room is so packed and fully filled with people waiting. We wasn't called until 12:25pm. There is a slot that you can slide your appointment letter in and you just had to wait to be called. The officers are likely randomly picked the appointment letters from there(not sure) and they opened the door and called your name and walked you in. He looked very good with grey suit and seemed nice. He greeted us and smiled. We asked how he was doing? And he asked us either to turn off the phones or put them into airplane mode. Right before we got in his office, he asked for my ID's so he could make a copy of them. He returned my husband's passport but keep my passport in his hands. When we got in the office, I and my husband took a seat and he apologized and asked us stand up so he could swear us in. As we sat down he began asking my husband what his full name was, what his address was, his phone number etc, which I got a little peak that he was confirming all the infomation in the i-135 form. Then he asked for the income and finacial stuffs. My husband gave him his employment letter, W2s of 3 years, pay stubs of the recent 6 months. Then he began with me, he asked me when we got married, and where do i live now? I was having a little bit hestitate when answering his question about the address number because i had to translate from Vietnamese into English in my head. He asked me "you've been living there for 4 years but you dont know the address!" I was a little bit freaked out but my husband throw a bucket of water in the fire by saying that my English is very minimal. And then he asked for my birthday! I again answered it wrong 1889 instead of 1989. The officer corrected me this time. Hahaha. Then he asked my phone number and name of my parents. Then he asked for my original birth certificate and I noticed that he just wanted to compare with the one I submitted in the package and then he went through the YES/NO application questions with me. He asked me about his birthday. He also asked me my entry date. He asked me how we met and when, where was our first date. He asked about our parents and if anyone witnessed us at the marriage ceremony and why there was no family witness us??? he asked me if we have any joint documents with us. We gave him 2016 taxes return, he asked why my husband claimed me for only 2016 but not since 2015 when we got married, he also asked for my new medical exam envelop and ask us why it would take us so long to file for AOS. We answered that we want to get a 10 year GC so that's why we waited and it is so true, I just dont want to go thru another process like this again. Then we handed him the health insurance policy from his job, bank account and a big album with a lot of pictures from our trips ranging from 2014 till 2017. He asked us if he could take some pictures from the album ( around 6-7 pics). Then he told us to relax now and he started to type on the computer. My heart was pounding so hard coz i didn't want to get any paper saying that my case should be reviewed but he printed out 2 papers and he congrated me that i am approved and the card should be delivered to me in the next 90 days. The papers were the approval letter for both i485 and i130. He also informed me that if I ever have an emergency to leave the country, I could come in and get my passport stamped for temporary GC. We were shaking hands with him and then he walked us out. We said goodbye and thanked him and we left. I was superrrrr happyyyyyyyyyy..... at least my miserable days are almost over!!!

    Hi Jimjilbangbang and Calidanny,

My field office is Santa Ana as well! I am applying GCs for my parents and they just got their EAD and AP combo cards yesterday. Since 3/29, the online status was changed to "ready to schedule for an interview", but nothing so far. I have been wondering what's everyone else's schedule like with Santa Ana office. I will keep you posted if any updates.

Please keep us updated. There is one more guy @Cooldude20 has his office in Santa Ana as well. This office getting on my nerve for being so dragging now. Lol

It is now the waiting game I guess. I am in Orange County, California, so my local field office is Santa Ana. I just looked here :https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do for the processing dates, it shows that for I-485, this office is processing case as of 7/28/2016. The confusing thing is, there's two dates on that page, one is 2/28/2017, the other one is 4/18/2017. Which one is the page updated date? I wonder how recent they refresh this page.

Oh yeah it's a field office btw.. I used to call it a service center. My bad..

Oh well, I guess I can call it whichever I want anyway.. ???

Nooooooo!!!!!!! You have to call it the exact same name they (USCIS) call it so we would know what you are talking about. I've been having a lot of stress lately, I would not want to use a lot of my remaining grey matter in my brain to figure out what you are talking about. Haha... JK ???

I-765 and I-131 and I-485 are all treated independently. They do not correlate to one another as USCIS said..

It is a job of USCIS to provide the combo card while the I-485 is in process separately.

Once you get the I-765 and I-131, the role of NBC for these petition are over. Once your status for I-485 changes online to Your Status Is Scheduled For Interview, they already passed on your case to your respective service center.

If there are some issue in your I-485 in NBC level, they will not pass your case to your local service center. This is what you call RFIE. It may or may not affect your I-765 and I-131. But in many cases they do. Ideally, they don't and shouldn't.

The only reason why some people do not receive their EAD and AP because of RFIE, this is because the lacking info is necessary for them to conduct a background investigation. This is a vital part of the whole process.

So as of our status right now, "you case is ready to be scheduled for the interview", the NBC still have our cases or they already send them to our Santa Ana local office? I think they already did it because the local office would receive our case and book us down as soon as they have available date, right?
