    Flying into the UK

    Hey, you all are probably gone on your trips by now, but I wanted to add that my hubby (UK citizen) and I (US citizen) went through the EU citizen line at Heathrow last May with no problems. He went in front and introduced me as his spouse. This worked fine at every EU airport we visited on that trip.

    EU immigration law says "Family members who do not have the nationality of a Member State enjoy the same rights as the citizen who they have accompanied." We interpreted that to mean I could hit up the citizen line, and it went fine.

    Yeah, that sucks. We went through that in Indiana when my husband was applying for AOS. The receptionist at the first office I called didn't believe it was possible my husband didn't need a new physical. I held her hand through that EXTENDED learning process then waited while she asked the doctor what the charge for that would be. $90, iirc, no doubt made up on the spot. This lady was the only civil surgeon in our town, but we found a different doctor about an hour away who knew immediately what we needed and only charged $20 for it. It was well worth the road trip, both to save us money and to deal with a person who was informed and treated us like normal people.

    So, definitely DO call around. $150 is absolutely not reasonable, although obviously you'll have to take it if no one else can do better. I think it's really hit or miss.

    NO, only if you try to register to vote yourself or do vote yourself or if you send in campaign contributions yourself from your personal account to a candidate while a GC holder. Provided what you are doing is only a legal function of your job.

    I think this is wrong. GC holders cannot register to vote or pose as citizens, of course, but they can contribute to political campaigns. See: http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/foreign.shtml

    Congrats, Heishe - that is one impressively fast CSC approval!

    Hah - s'funny, ever since first joining VJ in 2006 I remember you as someone whose approvals/milestones (as in leaving NVC, Packet 3, Packet 4, etc) I've seen and thought "Yay! We should be there soon too!" :dance:

    Yeah, I remember you from K1 and AOS too! VisaJourney is so nice like that. I suppose I'll be seeing you next year in the citizenship forum.

    congrats!! Our dates are pretty much exactly the same, and when I could finally see my online info it said recieved 6/3 aswell which was so untrue! my only different with dates with the biometrics due to mine being cancelled but yeah the other dates are the same, so it will be interesting to see what happens for me.

    I was expecting hubby's approval in another couple weeks, judging by other recent CSC timelines. It looks like we did get scheduled for biometrics pretty quickly, which probably helped. Anyway, I definitely expect to see everyone else here rolling in in the next few weeks.

    BTW, received mailed notice today that has 7/24 as decision date.

    Hiya guys. I just got card production ordered email this morning. We sent off hubby's forms 5/22, got NOA1 dated 5/26, and had biometrics on 7/1. Once we could access online case status, it always said they received the application on 6/3. Not sure what accounts for that. Anyway, yay. That's 66 days from package sent to card production ordered. We've been incredibly lucky with our USCIS processing times.

    Hi guys. We had to leave town for a couple weeks, but when we got back, my husband's resident card was in our mail. It probably arrived around the 3rd of August. It looks very high tech!

    + Also, we got an email saying approval notice mailed, but I can't see where we ever got an approval notice, unless it was packaged with the greencard. We did get a notice saying our EAD application had been administratively closed.
