Interview booked for 20/02
(CC: 12/01)
Sadly my USC husbands visa here expires 16/02 so looks like we might be flying separately which is a pain. But at least things are moving forward. @tshafiq91 have you had any luck with your interview?

Anyone with a checklist that recently got a CC?
How long did it take from the second scan date? I’m losing patience
second scan date: Jan 8th
Yeah, our second SD was Nov 30, and we got CC Jan 12, it honestly felt far longer the second time, but hang in there!

Hey! Same happened for us, expedite was approved but only on the basis that NVC looked over and approved our documents first. Our case was approved and sent to Islamabad within 3 days but no update from embassy. I wonder if we have to call them or go online and schedule our own interview?
Let me know what happens with your case!
We couldn't get hold of anyone at the embassy today, we just wanted to call and find out what happens next, but from what I gather we can call to schedule interview, I'm guessing once they recieve our documents? Where did you get an update that your documents had been sent? I feel like I've been able to be so prepared for all the other parts of this process (except the hideous waiting) but this part with the expedite is so new to me! Keeping fingers crossed that we can get through quickly as husbands visa here expires mid Feb so we're really pushing it for time! Lets keep in touch, good luck for a speedy embassy process!

expedite at embassy stage ? I haven’t seen that before.. please how did u go about it and what was ur reason for expedite
To be honest, when we applied for the expedite we thought it was for NVC, so when we got an email saying that our expedite request had been approved pending the NVC paperwork review we got real confused From what I can gather it just means we get the chance to call the embassy and request an interview date, rather than waiting for one to be assigned, but we're going to call the embassy tomorrow and maybe I'll know more after that! We did it just through email, and there were a number of reasons, mostly fairly personal, but my husbands grandmother is quite ill so that played a big part in our decision to request an expedite (he lives here in NZ with me)

I didn't hear about any case complete in Vj family since yesterday . i really wanna see case complete with December filer and of course one November filer @tshafiq91
And me!
we just called to see if we were any closer or if anyone could be more specific, but we just got the canned 11-week talk so I guess we just keep waiting. It sucks so much knowing that it’s one document but we still had to start all over again and it’s taking far longer this time.
SD: 18/Oct
Checklist: 28/Nov
SD2: 30/Nov

As of now NVC is moving pretty fast. I am seeing an avg of 5-6 weeks for a CC.
That's true, but when you account for being on lower staff numbers over the Xmas and New Year period I think it's reasonable to expect things will slow a little bit, like they did briefly the week of Thansgiving.

OKAY so we have an update!
We got a checklist on 11/28 because we were missing a police report that wasn't actually missing at all. The NVC employee told us to call back in a week to check that the case had been put in line for a supervisor to review it again. We called back tonight and ANOTHER ISSUE. When the file was updated on 11/30 the date in the system was changed, so it looked like we sent in our original pack of documents on 11/30, starting the 11 week process again. The guy at NVC this time was so helpful, tried to find a supervisor but couldn't, and told us that he would make it a priority. His words were 'This is considered a case complete and as soon as the supervisor flags the case you will be in the queue for an interview, call back in another week to make sure that has all gone through' so I'm taking it!
SD 10/18
CC 12/5
Hopefully we can get through ONE part of this process with no delays, my husbands visa here expires in Feb so we are pushing it a little bit
Apparently we celebrated prematurely. We called back as instructed and this time got a woman who didn't seem to know what was going on, who transferred us to a supervisor. Even though in NZ the police report is sent directly to the embassy (not to me) the embassy forward it on to NVC. That's what the date change was to 11/30, our second SD. Except no-one in the last 2 weeks told us that, and both people we spoke to assured us that our case would be definitely complete in 1-2 weeks. The supervisor tonight confirmed that our 11 week wait started again 11/30 and that with Xmas and New year we shouldn't aim to hear anything for 7-8 weeks. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I don't know how to deal with this any more.
1st SD: 10/18
Checklist: 11/28
2nd SD: 11/30CC to come

Okay we called NVC and got hold of a really nice young man. Apparently the checklist was 'an oversight' by the person who was reviewing the file >.<
Back to waiting but the guy said to call back in 2-4 weeks if we haven't heard by email yet but it's as good as CC without actually being CC! All that stress and worry and tears for nothing!

I received email that NVC completed its processing (SD was 11/10, CC: 24/11) but today I received another email that one document is missing or need additional information (police certificate for netherland). the text in the email is below
The instructions will ask you to either:
- Send the missing or corrected items to the applicant so he or she can take them to the visa interview;
or
- Send the missing or corrected items to the National Visa Center (NVC) and include a copy of the
Case Number Barcode Cover Sheet.
I also don't know whether my case will be delayed or not. I need to call them today.
At least you got the CC email first, that's gotta be a good sign. May your time on hold be short when you call and all your news be good!

did they ask you to send it to NVC or only take it with you to the embassy for the interview?
Send it to NVC, but the link that they referred me to in the email says that NZ police won't send to individuals, they'll only send direct to the embassy so I'm not really sure where that leaves us. We're going to try and call and see if we can get clarification once my husband gets home from work.

SD 18-Oct
Checklist 28-Nov
My police certificate was apparently the wrong document :/

Holiday season? which holiday are you talking about?
Yeah, Thanksgiving/Xmas/New Year will slow things down a lot I imagine with staff off for holidays and potentially running on skeleton staff for the whole of December

You don't see anything while on the plane anyway, unless you insist sitting by a window. The plane ride is super comfy and safer than a car ride. Are you afraid of riding in a car too? Waaaaay bigger risk of something happening in a car than in a plane.
While that's statistically correct, logic doesn't work as an argument against a phobia. You don't go from being irrationally (no offence BostonChops, I have exactly the same issue) terrified including physical symptoms to being okay with flying just by knowing that it's statistically safer than driving.
BostonChops, I'm so sorry I have no simple answers, but they guys up above are solid - if she can provide super super solid ties to PH then she'll have a much better shot at getting a B2 from my understanding. Wish you all the best!

Your thinking that he should put in 0 is correct. The only way that you could count his current NZ income is if it would continue after moving to the US. For example: if he worked for a large company that had offices in both NZ and the US and he was simply transferring offices.
Perfect, that's what I thought. Does that mean he should also put his employment status as unemployed because he's not employed in the USA? Sorry for the questions I just don't want to mess anything up!

Hey VJers!
Quick question - my (USC) husband lives with me in NZ, and has for the past year. He is employed here until his working visa runs out and has plenty of evidence to support domicile in the USA. My question is when filling out the I-184, should he complete with his income here (abroad) because that won't be relevant for supporting me once we move back. I am sure I read somewhere that he should put 0 but should he then also put unemplyed because he's unemployed in the USA, only emplyed in NZ. We have a joint sponsor anyway who has filled out all the forms, we're just confused filling out the I-184 for the petitioner.
TIA!

You guys! We got approved!! This process has been so tough and it's not over yet but we got an update on the app this morning, on the day of our anniversary party with my extended family and there were definitely some tears! I know it's so, so hard, and I know I am really lucky to have my husband here in New Zealand with me but that day will come for all of you x

Welcome to the process! If you need to ask any questions to a fellow kiwi, hit me up! We're at Nebraska too, hopefully getting close to NVC stage (7 months so far!)

And i am tired of people asking me: "When are you leaving? And why does it take so long?"..uughhhh best one: "Any news yet?"
This one is the WORST. I know I'm really lucky that my husband lives here with me for now, so we're not waiting to see each other like some people, but when people are constantly asking "Oh, any news on your Visa?" every second day it starts to grate haha. Sadly because the initial timeline said around now, we told people we wouldn't hear anything until June, but now it's been pushed back people have been asking more than usual and I just wanna yell that HONESTLY, HONESTLY when something happens they will know, trust me hahahaha

Yeah I'm not seeing the perks of having an expedite, but at least it didn't make it slower I guess!
Thank you! I know the end is in sight but we're a little bit preoccupied with trying to figure out how to deal with the husband visa situation here (I don't fly well - think panic attacks - so would prefer not to fly alone!)
